The hotel itself was fantastic, but the location was not what I was led to believe via Google Maps. I had originally believed it to be closer to local attractions, but it turned out not to be. Oh, well. If you have other business to do than sightseeing the hotel is still a good place to stay and very safe. It just did not work out well as a launchpad for tourist activi...

We came to Taiyuan for two things: the ancient Jinci shrine an hour south of town, and as a jumping-off place for the Buddhist pilgrimage site of Wutaishan a few hours north of town. The city is in a fever of new construction, especially new subway lines, and seems a bit of a chaos after Beijing. The Jinjiang Inn chain can be depended on for Motel 6-like accommodation...

If you don't speak Mandarin you are going to experience some difficulties whilst checking in & out. As long as you have your booking confirmation printout, just hand this over at the front desk with your credit card & a room key will passed back to you with your visa card once a deposit has been taken. Rooms are fine.

When we arrived from Pingyao by bus, because it said is Railway Station Branch. We took a taxi to railway station. Then, could not find this hotel. Eventually, had a take a motorbike taxi to this actual location. To our horror and frustration, this hotel is just around the corner from where we got down from the Pingyao bus. Wasted our time, efforts and money. The actua...

Unfortunately, the main access road to the hotel is under construction and no vehicles can get close to the hotel. We have to lugged our luggage more than 500 metres to the hotel as the taxi cannot get any nearer than that. We then have to walked through the road under construction which is very dusty to get a cab to the airport. I suggest that Agoda should inform pote...

the name was change but theres no info. we find it hard until we looks for building and room detail. the receptions are very hard to speak english, so makes it harder to confirm the right place. my name didnt show in the list so we make another booking. room was nice, but the location a lil bit hard to find food. but at last its a good place to stay a night for transit...

We were surprisingly delighted with this hotel. Our room (1017) was adequately sized and the beds were comfortable. It was clean and no-nonsense. There was a very large supermarket (SPAR) just a block and a half away where you can get any needed items. The "morning market" (from about 6:30 to about 8:30), where you can get locally grown fruits, is only a half-bloc...

the hotel is located not far away from the railway station(太原火車站 ). at the arrival of railway station, we suggest to take a taxi. the fare is only around $15-20 rmb. or you can take a trolly bus ( no 104 )the fare is $1 rmb per trip. then get off at the station named "shing fong ji kou " (城坊街口). cross the road and see the sign broad " seven day inn " (七天酒店), then walk ...

Not to knock Taiyuan, but it is not exactly the most exciting or beautiful place around and if it weren't for visiting a friend, I probably would have not had a reason to go there. Think Cleveland (sorry Cleveland). That said, I wanted to treat it as a couple of days of relaxation and this hotel certainly offered that. It was clean, the staff were courteous (and appear...

At first I was a bit shocked - it was basic and my window had been covered by another building. After a good night sleep and a trip around Taiyuan I changed my mind totally - I stayed longer because I realised this was excellent value for money. It provided the essentials and the staff were very accommodating. I would stay here again without hesitation.

We had a very good stay at this hotel. The staff in all areas were very efficient and helpful regardless of their English skill. The hotel was located in a relatively quiet area. The rooms were clean and well kept, though the no-smoking policy wasn't strictly enforced on guests. The location was also very good with milk bars and little restaurants on both sides of the ...

Arrived in the evening by train and bus. Three hours after arriving in the city and problems for the taxi driver to find the really outcentered location in an a dark side street we arrived at the place which seemed to be rather a living community than youth hostel. Next busstop 20 minutes by feet through mud working area. Owner poor english and neither at arriving nor ...

Traveler impressions of Taiyuan
The city is wonderful but China must start examining its sewage and drainage problems for both the smell and public health reasons.
