We really enjoyed our stay in Varkala the beach was great with huge stretches of white sand and large waves.
Great for swimming. Walking along the cliff face was fantastic. It is a long stretch and there are lots of little stalls and restaurants along the way to enjoy. People are very friendly there and the restaurants are great, all serving fresh fish. Yum!
Its a small town. Tips for visitors * Having an umbrella will always be handy * Sunday is not the day for shopping.
Most shops / establishments are closed. * You get fresh EVERYTHING (vegetables / fish / meat) on Sundays. If you plan to cook, then, you are in luck.
the beach is at the bottom of the cliffs which is lined with resturants and spas and touristist shops.
I do think some massage centres offering Ayurvedic massages take chances if you not sure what it entails. Do take a trip down to Kovalam, its also a beach worth visiting. Great jewry shopping, but bargain tough...
Great Beach resort in India for the backpacker type and more. Greta Surf, beaches and a relaxed environment compared to other places in India.
Black beach is good out of season (Nov-Feb) and South cliff beach in season. Great beach huts to rent :-)
Great beachside place to vacation. Enjoy the natural greens and blues of nature at less than half the price of Italy.
Lovely beach at one end of a cliff top walk with non stop bars and restaurants, walk along a just pick anyone for a cool drink after a day on the beach.
Food we had was fantastic especially while watching the beautiful sunset every evening from the balcony of a restaurant. Great place to relax
The temple is fascinating. Pilgrims believe that the sea near the temple washed away all your sins. For us Western sinners good to try! Beaches are fantastic and waves good to ride.
Temperature is perfect. It's a relaxed, laid back atmosphere. No agression or hassle. The shopkeepers invite you in their shops, but with a simple and friendly (but firm) ) no, they leave you alone. Parapenting is beautiful here. Start from the helipad on the cliff and hang over the beach and land on the sand.
