Traveler impressions of Vung Tau

More about Vung Tau

Vung Tau is a provincial city in Southern Vietnam, and often serves as a seaside retreat for locals and tourists to this region. Only 75 miles from Saigon, the city is easy to access either by ground transportation or via Vung Tau Airport.

Vung Tau offers five beaches, each with unique qualities. Bai Trouc is well-developed and has a wide selection of restaurants, shops and hotels, while Vong Nguyen is popular among surfers. Bai Dua is the quietest beach and located only a mile from the city center while the nearby Bai Sau at Lon Mountain is even less crowded and hotels in this area are ideal for those seeking a quiet seaside getaway. The longest stretch of beach can be found at Bai Sau.

The Vung Tau Lighthouse is a famous site and a favorite destination among visitors and locals.

As is the case throughout most of Vietnam, Buddhism is the predominant religion in this city. There are many Buddhist temples and statues throughout this city, the most famous ones being Thich Ca Phat Dai and Niet Ban Tinh Xa, as many pilgrims travel to this region for these temples.

Travelers to Vung Tau should not miss a trip to the White Palace, one of the most famous sites in the city.
