I travelled with my husband and 4 yo daughter. It's an easy gateaway from Tokyo to experience Japanese traditional life in a nice Japan mountain area. We stayed in Japanese style room, sleeping in tatami with pretty snow covered mountain/hill, we went to the hotel's private onsen day and night, had good selection of Japanese breakfast at the hotel. There's free shuttle...

We upgraded the Japanese style room we booked through Agoda and stayed in the ryokan's Sara suite. It was a perfect getaway for 2! The staff was very friendly, and the ryokan's GM, Tomoko, explained everything we need to know and even gave tidbits about Japanese culture--how to use the onsen, how to wear the yukata provided, and how to drink matcha. The suite had ev...

We stayed at ryokan room with share bathroom. Room is big and clean. It is comfortable and with full amenities. (Green tea, electric water boiler, refrigerator, toothpaste, toothbrush, razor, towel). Share bathroom is clean, with bath gel and shampoo. The hotel has free private onsen in open space (45 mins each for each booking), nice and good experience. The com...

The food was excellent! The location was convenient! The Kawabata museum is beautiful and fascinating. The town of Yuzawa is absolutely stunning, especially in winter! What you may have heard before is absolutely true: there was no snow or rain, but green fields as we entered the tunnel, but when we came out of the tunnel into Yuzawa, a beautiful, snow covered landscap...

I love Yuzawa town, and this hostel is very close to Echigo Yuzawa Station. From this station you can catch a free shuttle bus to Gala Yuzawa. San san is such a lovely woman, she speaks very good English with foreign accent so dont worry about language issue, you get one of the best English speaking Japanesse here. I arrived at 8 am, checked in and dropped my luggage a...

We arrived at Ichigo Yuzawa Station mid morning after a red eye flight from Hong Kong and telephoned the hotel, who quickly sent a minibus to pick us up from the railway station and bring us to the hotel. At first it seemed we were too early to check in, but the room became available and was released to us. We quickly changed and the hotel provided a shuttle bus to th...

Visited the Yuzawa Onsen during winter in the skiing season. The hotel is located just opposite the station and the bus stop with the shuttle buses to the various ski resorts like GALA Yuzawa, Yuzawa Kogen and Naeba is just in front of the hotel. The room I was given is very spacious and have a view of the station and the surrounding hills and mountains. There are two...

We were travelling with 2 young children, the services & respond are great, accessibility is easy for us with hotel shuttle to pick/drop us to Shinkansen station and to Gala Yuzawa Ski Resort. The furniture is a bit dull, but it shows the character of the place. Hotel staff is exceptionally friendly, helpful & hospitality is top-notch. Managed to visit the laid-back On...

While the room is a little dated, it’s well maintained and really clean. It’s a short walk to the train station with lots of amenities nearby, including another ski center and lots of eateries. What’s best is that the free shuttle to Gala Yuzawa picks us up right at the hotel doorstep.

Place-traditional japanese style, wonderful that i like it. My room has an onzen bath tub inside that was so nice. Food-eat in room, Japanese style and yummy Staff-mostly speak Japanese Transportation-better ask for pick up from Gala yuzawa station, especially in winter Kid-this hotel really care about child because they will prepare things for kid as well such as fo...

It's my first time to stay in a ryokan/onsen. It's also my first time to experience snow. It's a dream come true. It was really beautiful and fun. It was breath-taking! The Ryokan and the onsen exceed my expectations. All the staff made my stay really special. The staff's hospitality is on point. Love that they have a service (transportation) for the guests, free of ch...

Hotel owner is very nice and friendly. We arrived at night in winter time, unexpectedly he arranged dinner for us for free. Before our arrival, we had lots of email communication and he replied promptly. He also helped me to buy Shinkansen tickets for my departure and booked a taxi for us from station to hotel on arrival day. I highly appreciate the hospitality of ...

We stayed 2 nights here. It’s very good place for skiing trip. The room is Japanese style. Our room has stunning mountain view on the 4th floor. Two of best things here were the staff and location. Staff was excellent helpful and friendly, very impressed! The location was just few steps to Yuzawa Kogen Ropeway station. The hotel provides all ski gears for renting so it...

I believe staying at kinta was exceptionally expensive given the price I've paid and even when my partner had to cancel, they refused to give any money in refund, saying that breakfast is on them, eventhough breakfast should be included in the price. For the amount paid for the tatami room this was the most expensive I've ever paid. It was half the price in Yuzawa and ...

Very close to Naeba ski resort. No restaurants nearby or convenient stores due to covid, so plan ahead. The owner of the store didn't speak English, but we used line and Google translate to communicate to each other. She help me find the bus schedule from yuzawa station to naeba ski resort. Also picked me up from the station due to the snowfall. I advise planning on g...

I think by far the most wonderful stay I ever had. It is a Japanese house set-up owned by Japanese couple. The husband picked and dropped us off to the ski resort which is only a 3-minute drive from the location, also he helped us secure a rented ski stuff. He also has a friend who is a ski instructor, for those who wanted to ski for the first time. The room is quite ...

We reach there 7pm on the winter season while the snow was quiet thick. Lucky the hotel is very near to the station Echigo Yuzawa, you can just walk straight for about 100m and easily spot it on the right side. The room is quite big, they even have electric foot massage. Very useful for those who spent the whole day walking around the Tokyo. The next day we went to G...

Stayed here for a few nights for a short getaway ski trip from Tokyo. Located right on the NASPA mountain ski slopes - skiers only, no snowboarding allowed which is quite unique. However, as an intermediate-advanced skier you will prob. get bored skiing at NASPA so we moved to other areas - Kagura (15 mins away) was a gem and highly recommended to avoid the crowds. Ba...

We've enjoyed the stay very much though we've only stay one night. Although the staff doesn't speaks English very well but they tried their best to understand our request and they were very helpful. Location is just opposite the train station hence very convenient. There are many interesting shops in the station and food is not a problem. But if you are bringing yo...

My wife and I was here in late December 2018 for 2 nights. We wish we stayed longer. White Horse is a really nice wooden concept Inn about 100m away from Mitsumata ropeway. Access from Echigo-yuzawa station is about 20 minutes by an hourly Public Bus. (Bus No. 1) The Inn is warm and equipped with a shared cooking and dining area. Coming from South East Asia, the weath...

The hotel is a short walk of about 500 meters away from Echigo Yuzawa station although for us, it was a long slog as we arrived in the middle of heavy snowing! We got all our shoes and socks wet in the puddles.but Hirokawa has a heater in the general area, which allowed us to dry our shoes and socks. The hotel also provided us with umbrellas and rubberised boots for ...

I had a Japanese style room for myself. Very quiet and calm. Easy access to Echiro Yuzawa by free shuttle bus. But less easy to Gala Yuzawa. Onsen was busy and noisy (the hotel catered a big group of Chinese customers). Breakfast was very nice. Staff were nice but had very poor English skills.

Fantastic small hotel located at a stone throw away from Naeba Prince Hotel (the ski course) at a decent price. Our room had no toilet but that was not a problem since the common area was clean and spacious. Buffet breakfast was included and that’s what we love. They also provided us pick up and drop off in Kagura that helped us from waiting in the cold for bus. We wil...

Of course, many hotels and especially lodges in this city come complete with their own ski ranges and plenty of hot spring baths, so depending on where one chooses to stay it may not even be necessary to go far to enjoy these two popular activities.
