We stayed at this hotel at the start and finish of our French Polynesia adventure and it served us very well. The self catering facilities are of a similar standard to most places in this part of the world but you can cook a decent meal with one saucepan and frying pan. The infinity pool is good and there are trips available from reception. The rooms have more storage space for clothes and other bits than anywhere else we stayed which is a big plus. If we were to come back we would definitely consider staying here again.We had an ocean view room and we were glad that we did as we were afforded excellent views of Moorea.

We were in transit and arrived very late in Papeete, so the Hotel was perfectly located in walking distance 5 mins. Free internet is a big plus as WIFI is very expensive in French Polynesia. Bus goes to Papeete city but only until 6pm. return taxi better to airport then walk, it is cheaper

Maybe my expectations were higher than they should have been. I paid for an overwater bungalow which is very nice indeed. However, I had 5 minor complaints which I addressed and although the lady at the reception was friendly, little happened. The fridge was dirty and not cleaned, the safe was not working and disappeared after my complaint, the tap water is not drinkable, but there is only 1 liter of water for two people the whole stay included. Also breakfast goes extra on the bill. I left there 1.000 Euros in 5 nights and just had an expectation of receiving more luxury for the money. Maybe this is not reasonable in French Polynesia.

We stayed here the night before flying home. The room was spacious and comfortable. The hotel is within walking distance to the ferry terminal but is in the industrial area so don’t expect nice views. We had a lot of traffic noise with motor bikes roaring up and down the street throughout the night. Sorry to say the restaurant menu is quite terrible. Hardly any choice at all. Pizza, chips, cheese toastie...there was a salad actually, but nothing to make your mouth water. Also very expensive...we weren’t quite prepared for how much it would cost us to eat. We would spend an average of $70 nzd for the 4 of us on a very very basic breakfast or lunch. Unfortunately my dream of eating fresh fish every day whilst in French Polynesia didn’t happened...burgers and chips or jambon fronage baguettes all round. Anyway, good for a stop over

Brilliant level of service from the time my husband and I arrived. We were greeted by Melissa who showed us the resort and our villa. Highly recommend going for over the water villa. Breathtaking view and private. Waking up to that view of the crystal blue water is priceless and so relaxing. The team welcomed us with a bottle of champagne and truffle chocolates which added a lovely touch to our honeymoon which we enjoyed over our deck, gazing at stars in the night. You can hop on to an available bicycle and cycle round the resort or could do kayak as well. I have to commend once again for the top notch service of the team in Conrad Bora Bora Nui. Everyone we cross path with has such positive vibes and greets you Orana. Thank you for making this honeymoon an unforgettable one for us. Truly amazing.

We spent our honeymoon in one of the overwater bungalows. The premium overwater bungalows are beautiful and nicely air conditioned (very important in French Polynesia!). We LOVED the overwater bungalows. We also enjoyed the free use of the kayaks and paddle-boards, as well as the beautifully appointed grounds. The snorkeling off our bungalow was FANTASTIC. However, several parts of the hotel are in serious need of repair. Most of the tiles making up the pool are cracked, and could easily cut or injure someone who falls or knocks into them the wrong way (every time kids played, I cringed with nervousness). The same was true with the larger deck tiles around the pool. Many of them were dislodged. At dinner, one of the waitresses had to put one back in its place! It wasn't even stuck to the ground. That seemed dangerous--and in the U.S. would be enough for a hotel to lose their 4-star rating. Also, the service was very slow and they didn't always follow through. One day in particular, the maid came to clean our room, but we were still in it. She offered to come back in ten minutes so that we had time to get into our swimsuits and go to the pool while she cleaned. Well over an hour passed and she totally forgot to clean our bungalow. She never came back. My husband wasn't feeling well, so eventually we just gave up on getting our room cleaned at all that day. What was also frustrating was that every day the maids would take our wet towels (beach towels and the deck towels for the bungalows) and then not replace them. Every day we had to call to ask them to bring new towels, which meant we didn't have them when we wanted to use them. With a few updates and better service, this would be a four or five star hotel. However, to me, it felt more like a 3-star hotel at most. However, if you're looking for affordable overwater bungalows, this is a great option. The overwater bungalows are wonderful.

Electricity is expensive in French Polynesia - I understand, but arriving at almost 2am in a sticky room where the air conditioning wasn't running was/is not a pleasant experience. Took almost one hour for the air-conditioning to kick-in and bring the room down to a reasonable temperature. No black-out blinds, no cash kept on premises to change a CFP 10'000 note to pay the taxi. No assistance with luggage. Extra soft and well-used mattress with no headboard - pillows will slide off the mattress at night. Very soft pillows and only one pillow per person. Needed to produce my travel voucher on check-in as other form of proof of purchase is not accepted (passport or ID card anyone?). No free WiFi. Directly situated on what is probably the busiest road in Papeete - if you are on the first floor, traffic noise will wake you up - even with the best earplugs. Furniture and fit-out is functional. The list is long... Positives: - Staff is functionally friendly and hotel is centrally located.

During our 10 days stay in Tahiti, we stayed in 6 different hotels, and Hilton Moorea is the best among all. The lagoon is fantastic, the food is great, and the facilities are better than others. The only negative side, that they had a compulsory Christmas dinner policy which they did not inform us before. They published the information on their website, however most of travellers now book hotels through websites like Agoda, or others.

Very good hotel. Not in front of Matina beach (only public beach in Bora Bora) but 10 min. walk, so very good located. Room was very clean and big. I stayed in an ocean view room with an amazing view of the sea and terrace. Buffet breakfast was very good (not included in my price) with yoghurt, cereal, ham, cheese, delicious croissants and chocolate bread, fruits, etc. Staff was nice and helpful. Restaurant was very good and with good prices (for French Polynesia). Walking distance you have a couple mini markets and some restaurants. 30 min. bike from Vaitape (city center).

The hotel has beautiful grounds, nice large man-made lagoon, and friendly staff. We were admitted to our room immediately upon arrival about 6:30am from LAX. Our room was large, clean and comfortable. We played music on the TV and watched some interesting French shows in the evening. The Le Carre restaurant was nice and food good but expensive (typical of Fr Polynesia). We opted for the small French bakery in the nearby mall for breakfast. The free water sports equipment was nice (it costs at some hotels). We enjoyed the beach, and the snorkeling around the bungalows. The overwater bungalows were being refurbished so they were not available to us but should be a nice option in the future. The rooftop lagoon was being repaired so it had some small scattered pools of stagnant smelly rain water that made it unpleasant to sit on the balcony to enjoy the view. Overall I recommend the hotel.

The Opoa Beach Hotel where we’ve stayed the final 3 days of a 3-week trip to New Zealand and French Polynesia, is 9 cute cottages all decorated with local artisan craftwork, surrounding a small pool right by the waters edge on the east (sunrise) side of Raiatea looking towards Huahine. Free boat shuttle out the motu (little island w/beach on the reef surrounding the lagoon) 3X/day, where the snorkeling in the coral garden on the reef side is pretty spectacular and never more than 10' deep. Everything was pristinely clean and manicured, beautiful plantings, very relaxing and low-key elegance, but not the place if you’re looking for action or every creature comfort (e.g., no A/C - just the constant breeze) and no screens in the windows and nobody wears shoes (take them off at the door and rinse your feet in a little stone cistern) but we had no trouble with bugs or anything like that. They have cars on-site to rent and will arrange anything you want to do but mostly people seem to come here to escape the rest of the world and relax with a good book and incredible food and a serene view across the lagoon. The hotel director was incredibly helpful, he and his wife (run the hotel like a finely-tuned machine - but one with a smile and a gentle laugh. Mme. Barbace is also the chef - a creator of amazing delicious food blending French and Polynesian, with fresh local ingredients like fish from the little fishing village right next door. This is the place if you want to experience the real French Polynesia and leaves your shoes at the door, far from the maddening crowd...

I manage 25 vacation rental homes on the north coast of Oregon hence know the Sunset Beach Residence facility on the beautiful island of Moorea is a good one. New, clean, adequate stocked units are idea for a family and folks who don't like the resort scene. Really liked the deck. However, folks that don't speak french or don't know the area may struggle to procure food and amusement even though Matteau and his staff were excellent.

We stayed at the Royal Tahitien for four nights in late March 2014. We stayed in a large 2nd floor room which had an ocean view overlooking the grounds of the hotel from the balcony and a view toward the mountains from the entrance door. The room had twin beds which could be converted to a king, a/c mini fridge, tea/coffee making facilities, flat screen TV with only French language programming and balcony furniture. Unfortunately during three days of our stay, the hotel had booked three children's birthday parties which lasted from approximately 12 noon to 6pm on each occasion. Due to the pool being very small, the children at the birthday party completely overtook the pool and surrounding area making it impossible to utilize by the guests staying at the hotel. The huge grounds were also often overtaken by games and general running around of the birthday party guests. When we brought this matter to the attention of management, we were informed that in future they would not book 3 parties in a row. The only other comment we have is that the hotel seems to be short of towels and we often had to wait for laundry to be done before we could get replacement towels. On one day we were only provided with one bath towel for two people for a 24 hour period. We also had to wait 24 hours for pool towels. A further small investment in more towels would alleviate this problem and go a long way towards customer satisfaction! These observations were passed on to management prior to our departure and satisfactorily resolved.

As in other islands in French Polynesia, the price of the accommodation is quite high. The food in the restaurant is tasty with reasonable in price. All the staff were helpful and kind. WiFi is extremely poor. It costs 500 XPF for 1 hour. But most of the time you would be waiting for the response. What you can do in 5 minutes normally took 1 hour or could not do at all. In the dive shop, 'The 6 Passangers', WiFi connection was far better.

This is the hotel you must see! We travelled first to Tahiti then to Moorea but still missed our dream shores, white sand beaches and the blue lagoons. Finally we arrived to this amazing resort and all dreams came true. We stayed in an over water bungallow which is hard to describe how beautiful is. Glass floor, perfect bed, perfect everything. This is the place that meant us the "dream lagoon". I have never ever seen such a beautiful place however travelled the Earth around and visited many countries.

Tamas, the owner, was extremely helpful and nice! On the terrace, we watched perhaps the most beautiful sunsets from all our trips in French Polynesia and afterwards, the sky full of stars. Feeling at ease and enjoying wonderful nature and the company of other nice people staying at the hotel! I would recommend to have a car though, although anywhere in Moorea it would be highly recommended, at least for part of the time. There were bikes provided to go to a supermarket or so though.

Disappointed that the activities I had pre arranged where not available which was one of the primary reasons I stayed there. Local staff much friendlier than their French counterparts. No surprise there. No wifi except at main building which is a drag if you just need to handle a few emails periodically

This was my first over the water bungalow stay and it was incredible. From the moment we walked in to check-in, we were treated wonderfully. And although the resort was full, it felt so peaceful and quiet all the time. The breakfast was the best I’ve ever had ANYWHERE! The room was breathtaking...waking up every morning and opening the curtains to that view was exquisite. Doing yoga on our private balcony in the morning before breakfast was also wonderful. All in all, it was a great stay. I would go back in a heartbeat. The only thing I wouldn’t do again was the dinner on the beach. It was fine but not worth the money. Just dine in the restaurants on property or go into Maharepa. Rudy’s was lovely.

Great stay at the Thalasso. Expensive but worth it. We stayed in a Diamond OTW bungalow. Buffet breakfast was wonderful and included in the Agoda booking. Although we heard that if you arrive without a meal plan, the resort offers 50% off daily buffet breakfast (about $25 pp after the discount). Travelers may want to compare the IHG rate to Agoda rate with this discount in mind. The IHG points for booking direct adds up at a few nights stay at other IHG properties.

Even for a solo traveller Tipaniers is relatively affordable. As many bungalows sleep 4-6 people it is even better for families and groups. The restaurant is above average but the staff were really excellent - very helpful and courteous even if you don't speak French. I liked the mix of families, couples and even the odd solo traveller like me. The dive shop on site Tip Nautic is very convenient for trips. My only real criticism was breakfast, which didn't impress me. Go for self catering in the morning. Lunch on the beach was very good though - some excellent salads. And the evening restaurant does a very nice job. Try the creme brûlée made with local vanilla!

Great place, fantastic beach, snorkel, kayak, paddle boards available for enyoing this place. In front a car, scooter and quad rental. A Magasin ( small market) 15min walking. But need to improve restaurant service. Employees always in a hurry, never smile and food is extremely expensive. Breakfast cost 20 euros and very poor. Drinks cost 15 euros and have so little alcohol you can not feel it. Dinner has a better menu but very small portions. About 90 euros a couple. Small details easy and cheap to improve. Also tv has only French channels. Good idea to add some international. Internet is slow and intermittent.

Bungalow was really nice. Cleaning is done everyday. Access to the sea directly from the garden. All was fine.

Lovely resort - the grounds have lots of tropical flowers and fruit trees. There is a very small beach. The location is great since it is close to town. The arrival could have been more welcoming and it would have been nice at such a high end resort to be shown to our room. Airport is about 5 minutes away and they charge $10 per person to pick you up and then $10 pp to drop you back off to the airport! Really a disappointing gouge at a high-end resort! They also offer expensive half board (breakfast and lunch or dinner). You have to sign up for this for your entire stay. Who really wants the same buffet breakfast stuff everyday?? We did have dinner one night at the restaurant which was good. The town is less than a mile away. There are restaurants, stands and food trucks in town. Get a quiche or freshly made crepe for @ $2.50 - $4 or a french baguette, brie cheese and pate from the market. There is a fun, local and very good restaurant and bar about a 6 min walk called the Huahine Yacht Club. This was the last place we stayed in French Polynesia. We were celebrating a big anniversary and the other hotels made our stay very special. The Maitai Lapita made no attempt to acknowledge our special occasion in any way.

Main pool was under construction. Water in front of property isn't really nice, go elsewhere. Rooms are a bit outdated. Don't worry about location, restaurants pickup for free. Very neutral about the place overall. The best thing about any place in Tahiti including this place are the locals. You'll never meet as friendly and honest people as them.

After a week in French Polynesian vacation, I missed my asian food. I bought the instant noodle from the nearby shop and asked for the hot water. The lady staff brought the noodle to the kitchen. After few minute, she brought my noodle in the well decor bowl. That was a surprise.

I stayed at the IC both at the beginning and end of a trip to Moorea. The first time my friend and I had booked a panoramic queen room and on my solo return I'd booked a king lagoon view room but was upgraded to a panoramic view which was a nice touch. The hotel is only 10 minutes from Faa'a airport (2000 XPF by taxi). The verdant grounds and lagoon-style pools are gorgeous as is the view across to Moorea. The panoramic rooms were spacious with cool wooden floors although the fussy 1980's 'French Provincial' decor seemed a bit out of place and date. Beds and bedding are wonderfully comfortable. Room service and cafe food were great and relatively inexpensive for Tahiti. Staff were charming and efficient. My only complaint would be the inability to adjust or turn off the aircon in the room. Otherwise I'd highly recommend this lovely resort.

A slice of paradise, hidden gem in Bora Bora. Lush grounds, simple but very comfortable bungalows. Great vegetarian cuisine! If you look for the big hotel chains, probably not for you. But if you like authentic flair, traveling off the beaten paths, family-owned places then go for it! It is an amazing place where time stops and you enjoy each day as it comes and with what it brings. Kayak, snorkel, siesta in a hammock or dreaming under the stars, live life fully at Blue Heaven Island!

We stayed at Kaveka several nights and were really happy with our decision to spend most of the time in Moorea at this place. The price is quite ok for French Polynesia and the bungalow was nicely decorated in polynesian style. Rooms were quite modern and clean. Staff was very helpful and we enjoyed the quiet atmosphere as there were not many guests around. We would definitely return to this place again in the future. It is possible to walk within 10-15 minutes to MAhareepa, where there are small shops, souvenir shops, restaurants, banks and a post office.

We had an amazing stay with Alice and Raphael! Beautiful private beach with a view of mt. Otemanu and only 3 bungalows, so you basically have paradise to yourself. They offer kayak and SUP free of charge and are also super helpful to arrange other activities or provide a boat transfer to the shuttle boat to Vaitape. Alice is a great cook and spoiled us with delicious French Polynesian delicacies throughout our stay. Bungalow is also very nice with clean shower and toilet and a fan. Can't recommend this hidden gem enough, especially if you compare value for money with the large hotels.

Very good value for money especially for ourselves who wanted to self cater rather than stay in expensive hotel. Location is great, with it's own sandy beach and just around corner from main sandy beach also. Very good snorkelling at close by island which you can easily get there by Kayak.
