" My husband and I travelled throughout Thailand for a month and stayed mostly in 4 and 5 star hotels. Prior to leaving we checked this site for recommendations on where to stay in Bangkok. Someone recommended staying on Sukhumvit and Soi 11 as it was a very good location. Through word of mouth we found out about the Grand Swiss Hotel located at exactly this location. Here are the reasons why we highly recommend it: - opened a week ago after being totally renovated - has the look, feel and smell of a new building - the beds are extremely comfortable compared to other hotels in this category - the duvets....heavenly - the decor is chic, tasteful and Thai inspired - the all female staff will do anything they can to assist you. I had an issue with a coat I purchased from a tailor and they made the calls and arrangements to rectify the matter for me - the Guest Service Manager personally addressed all our needs and concerns and made sure our check in and stay were a very positive experience - the restaurant manager also personally checked in with us during our breakfast buffet to make sure everything was perfect for us - we initially were a bit worried about the traffic on Soi 11 as we felt the noise might impede our sleep. Our room was located at the back of the hotel and we never heard a sound from the street. We were on the 14 th floor. - the hotel is somewhat receded from Soi 11 which may contribute to it being quieter - the hotel has a good size pool located outside on the 7th floor - there is a small gym on the same floor - the breakfast buffet changed every day - chef Joy strives to provide fresh, quality foods. During our visit we had freshly made muesli and yogurt. The orange "

"Stayed here on two separate occasions, and both times I had an adequately good stay! Rooms were tidy, nice beds, maybe hard for some. Washroom is good, but there is a lack of hanging or shelfs for clothes, just throw over the door! Lobby has a communal area, coffee and drinks, a pool table, tv... great little social gathering area and nice decor but a bit dark. Book shelf with plenty of books about Thailand The area: Okay you are in the heart of Sukhumvit (red-light district) there are plenty of normal bars, naughty bars if that's your thang, street food vendors, bars with food, massage parlours (professional & not-so professional) you can easily choose which, as the not-so will have lady boys outside trying to look sexy (not pulling it off very well) and grabbing your hand mister and saying 'massage' whilst holding you firmly...they are quite strong hahaa! Location: Down a dead end alley (Soi: side street) a few minutes walk from Nana BTS, (also close to Asoke to transfer to airport) and Phloen Chit, even though you are in a lively area the Hostel is quiet as it's tucked away from the loud bars, but is still a safe area, plenty of people always around. You are a few stops from Siam where the upscale shopping malls are, also MBK Center is there which has electronics and market stalls throughout and a food terrace. Airport: this is a good location for starting and finishing your travels if you are flying out of Bangkok international airport. Take the BTS Skytrain Sukhumvit line (light green) from Nana (one stop to Asoke) heading towards Bearing station change for the MRT line (light blue) you'll have to walk to Sukhumvit station, but it's literally on top of one another. From there take the train that heads to Bang Sue one stop to Phetchburi, change to the Makkasan station again a short walk. From there you can catch either the Airport Rail Link Express or City line (red or dark blue) to Suvarnabhumi (Bangkok) airport."

"Very pleasant stay as the staff is very very helpful and friendly. Room is romantic especially when you switch on the Blue light at night. The breakfast is nice but tend to be almost similar everyday. The hotel is about 5 minutes walk away from Asok BTS and Sukhumvit MRT station, so it is very convenient to travel around. Would be better if there is a complimentary tuk-tuk services to fetch the guests to and fro the BTS station as compared with other hotels nearby."

"One of the better hotels in Sukhumvit area. The staff are very friendly, they will always greet you with a smile on their faces. Rooms are very clean & well maintain, a definite must in hotels that I stay. Location wise is good as its just a few minutes walk away from Sukhumvit MRT, BTS Asoke & Terminal 21 shopping centre. "The hotel is new and I got the deluxe room which is spacey and a huge bed. I am talk about really huge bed here, i believe this is the largest bed i ever seen in a hotel. The room is clean and modern nothing to complain here. Everything works and clean with very helpful staffs. The location of the hotel is a little far away from Nana BTS station which takes about 10 minutes walk to get to. Anyway it was a good opportunity to exercise by walking around. 7-11 is about 30 meters away and surrounding are full of restaurants of all sort. I didn't opt for the hotel breakfast since some review here saying it's just a simple breakfast. Therefore i opt for breakfast around sukhumvit area which has plenty of choices. Overall stay was excellent and will return again if decided to stay around sukhumvit area. "

"Absolutely no complaints about my stay in a Deluxe-Chill room. The hotel is a short walk from the main Sukhumvit Road, and within walkable distance to Asok BTS station or the slightly further Sukhumvit MRT station. The large screen TV in my room was nice, especially for chilling out in the room. Chuvit Garden, a private park, is right next door. The THB179 nett buffet lunch, albeit a limited spread, was great value and a pleasant surprise. "

"The Manhattan had been my favorite hotel in Bangkok for a number of years but it had gone downhill with cutbacks in lots of areas. But the Manhattan is back! A bit on the old side, it has been totally spruced up and is looking even better than before. You can't beat the location within an easy walk of both the Asoke Skytrain station and the Sukhumvit MRT station. There are lots of services and shops nearby. You can have a good experience of Bangkok here. And did I mention the staff? They're all very helpful from the doorman and bellboy to the reception and dining room folks. It would be hard to go wrong staying at The Manhattan these days."

"for the price this must be the best room in sukhumvit. the hotel itself is a welcome oasis from the hustle and bustle of sukhumvit 11 - which is itself a great place to explore. soi 11 must be my favourite street in bangkok great bars like cheap charlies and the volkswagen cocktail bars parked up along the street, restaurants like rosabieng and the one a little further down in a traditional wooden thai building, clubs further down like bed superclub and the nest - rooftop bar in the felix hotel...theres also the liveliest club in the area every night in the basement of the ambassador - climax - a short stumble to the elevator that takes you to your room at the end of the night. the view we had of the sukhumvit area from our room around nana and ploenchit was amazing! the hotel has a decent pool and strangely - an aviary with loads of exotic birds! we had no problems with the staff we encountered although slightly bemused by the baht deposit you have to stump up up front to cover mini bar tab etc....all in all a great place to stay with just about everything you might need right on your doorstep and a short stroll from the sky train...."
