we couldn't have had a better stay. Hiro the host is lovely and accommodating. The place is quiet and clean. It is a stones throw from the temples and bridges. Recommend again and again.

The best”
This is the friendliest and most personal hostel I've ever been to. The host/owner Jimmy (Hiro) is amazing. He's very kind, knowledgeable about the local area and funny. It's easy to meet other travellers, clean and very thoughtfully designed. He has loads of great tips and information for travellers. You can easily spend several days here exploring the local area (great temples and nature) and hanging out with Jimmy and the other guests. The hostel is located next to the Shinkyo bridge very close to the temples/shrines and good restaurants and shops. The beds are comfortable too and there's free toast/jam/butter for breakfast. Great value for money and the best place to stay in Nikko. Thanks again Jimmy!

Such a sweet place ”
This was really a great place to stay when visiting nikko and the temples. While a little walk (or easy bus ride) from the tobu nikko line, it is RIGHT on the corner of the bridge and temples. PERFECT location. Seriously. He also provides free bread for breakfast (yay!), free coffee and tea, and little snacks on his little table for guests. He was the best host. One night I was there, there were only 4 other guests so he took us all to the local ONSEN! Great experience. I'd come again, and recommend to others. Thanks Hiro!

Close to temples”
It's about a 20-30 min walk uphill from the train station or a 200 yen bus ride. The bus stops very close to the hostel. Owner and fellow hostel mates were super chill. If you arrive during non-check in hours there's an outside locker for you to stash your backpack, but you need your own lock. Place was really clean. Use of kitchen and fridge was nice. Comfortable beds.

very good location, but many rules”
The location is perfect and the place looks very cute, the Japanese room is nice. But there is only one bathroom and there are many rules, e.g. you can not shower between 10 and 16h and you need to sit down in the toilet.

Wonderful stay at Hiro's hostel”
We regret only staying one night! Hiro was so warm and welcoming, and was happy to talk and get to know us, but also is happy to give his guests space too. The guesthouse is very clean, covered in art and nice decor, and has gorgeous views of the flowing river. Located a couple steps from the famous shrines, but still felt private and tucked away. We definitely recommend this as a wonderful and cozy place to stay in Nikko. Thank you Hiro!

Friendly owner , feel like home , good view , close to bus stop”
The place is close to bus stop ( Shinkyo bridge )yet you need to search exact location or bring Japanese address detail along. I walked pass the place without notice ( it was close until 4 pm ). Mr. Hiro , the owner , is a nice guy. You can easily walk up to Rinnoji and other temples. We took the one day bus from train station on arrival day ( a bit up-hill pathway ) and walked back on the departure day ( down hill walk and bought stuff along the way )....

Great stay in a traditional Japanese room with tatami floors. ”
Hiro was very helpful and knowledgable. We were able to leave our backpacks in the lockers out front before checkin time. We rented bikes to take to dinner and onsen. The bikes were really nice Trek hybrids perfect for the Nikko streets. We also ordered food for the next day which was good. Will definitely stay here again next time we visit Nikko.

2D1N Cozy Stay”
"If you want to come back, Nikkorissou will be your home", found this on the wall :) It's enjoyable and cozy stay at Nikkorisou Backpackers. Love the way they decor the female room, prep well all the beauty accessories for female guest, so sweet! And the river just next to the hostel, it's awesome to fall sleep with the natural music... The manager looks cool but friendly. Serve yourself a toast with coffee, enjoy the beautiful morning at the living room! Location is good, walking distance - 10min to the major Nikko temple, all the eateries and shop are near to the hostel. 15min walk to the nearby onsen. For female solo traveler like me, this is consider a good place for stay.
