Overnight Stay”
I was quite surprised at the facilities and the room for the price I paid. The staff was excellent and ready to help when asked. Convenient location for my doctors appointment next day and lots of eating places around, even an IGA if you want to go that way. However, I was there on a Tuesday night and my room was on Little Bourke Street and I had very little sleep with the bar trashing bottles at 11 am, then garbage pickups at 2 am and 4 am, then laundry truck at 6:30 am and so at 7 am I gave up and got up.

Large room, great price”
Great location and price for Melbourne CBD. Large bathroom and living area. Reception staff were a bit abrupt and customer service skills were lacking but not much interaction was necessary and had an overall pleasant experience. The large bathroom and cooking facilities more than made up for it

Very good”
Stayed with 3 other people so the 2 bedroom apartment was perfect for us. Cute, quaint, could use some TLC but otherwise much better than we expected for the price we paid. Perfect location to get around Melbourne CBD & the apartment was roomier than expected. Only downfall for us was slow/lack of service from the reception. When we first arrived we rang the doorbell & were responded to but no one came to the door to let us in. Luckily someone staying there was coming home so they let us in. With the second instance we had left our luggage at the reception after check out to explore before our flight. Trying to collect our luggage after could've made us miss our flight. We rang the doorbell numerous times with it going straight to the out of hours message (it wasn't out of hours). We tried calling the phone. No response. It wasn't until my friend knocked on the receptions window that he came to let us in & when he did he said nothing. Just walked away. Not friendly at all.

Great location, no reception ”
Great value apartments that are very well located in central Melbourne: these are spacious and clean but the apartments are starting to show their age and have some wear and tear: (broken tiles etc, leaking roof in building, not apartment) this is not really a problem. There is no reception accessible from the outside and it took nearly 15 minutes of ringing the bell and calling the phone number (no reply) to get into the building! On checkout reception was supposed to open at 8am: at 8.30 a cleaner turned up and took the keys. Could be managed better but great value for money otherwise.

Perfect little getaway”
Coppin was perfect for a getaway, the location was perfect, the place was immaculate and it was so peaceful and quiet. Very relaxing and definitely worth the money. I had my own little kitchen to cook in and a large tv to watch. The bed was so soft and comfortable and it was overall a very comforting place. Probably my favourite place I’ve ever stayed

Pleasantly surprised ”
I stayed here on a Wednesday night and with the low price I expected a catch. With a lot of negative reviews recently I was pleasantly surprised with my experience. I was given room 11 on the first floor, rooms were spacious and adequately cleaned except for a patch of old cobwebs in a corner of the bedroom ceiling, bathroom was quite clean with no signs of mould other guests have complained about, kitchen was adequate and clean but I did not make use of it as there were plenty of superb restaurants nearby. The bed was comfortable. The only downside is my room faced little Bourke street and you can hear people talking through the windows on the street below and I was woken up once in the middle of the night by a garbage truck beeping as it reversed into a lane. Guess that was the catch in the bargain price I paid for.

Beautiful heritage building in the centre of town”
Beautiful heritage building at a fantastic location for exploring Melbourne. Plenty of restaurants, bars and sights in walking distance. (Make sure you try the ice cream from the Spring Street Grocer around the corner!) The studio appartments are very cramped, however the superior studios and appartments are wonderful. Please note that the reception is located at Lonsdale street. This made checking in a bit of a hassle. Despite adequate signage pointing you in the direction of the reception, you can’t actually make you way through to reception without a keycard. So make sure you enter through Quest on Lonsdale!

This is a wonderful hotel in an historic building full of character. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and also helpful. The rooms are good and well appointed and the pool and fitness centre and added advantage. Quiet and relaxed this hotel is at the heart of Melbournes China Town and convenient for the Theatres and also the Museums

Good inner city stay”
We stayed for 2 nights in May. We travelled with 2 young children and were quite comfortable. Great location, close to trams. Large living area which was great with the children. A must if staying here is to visit the little cafe "le petite on Bourke" delicious coffeee and pastries. If travelling with a pram perhaps ask to be located on the lower levels as the stairs and elevator are a challenge.

I actually booked this stay for friends who were required to stay overnight in Melbourne. not being frequent travellers they were very impressed with the rooms and the location. they informed me that the standout was the staff and their service given, always friendly, always helpful and always smiling. the only issue, and it was barely that was a bit of confusion in finding the entrance/reception.

Great building and location, in need of an update”
PROS: The one bedroom apartment was spacious and had almost everything needed for a comfortable stay. The portable A/C unit was very handy. The apartments are in a great location for enjoying the Melbourne CBD. CONS: Range hood in kitchen was not working. Water pressure in shower was non-existent - water barely trickled out. Poor communication! Check-in instructions in the Agoda app are out of date. Reception was unattended - staff only responding to the front door intercom being pressed. No telephone number for contacting reception. No information in the room about property facilities and amenities.

Great value ”
We stayed here for $150 for 2 x 1 bedroom apartments when we just needed a place to crash while moving house. I stayed there when it was Quest and I never would again, but as Coppin the rooms were so much better maintained. Would definitely recommend even for a weekend or more. Can’t beat the location.

Good value for money”
These apartments are very centrally located so very easy to get anywhere by foot or tram in Central Melbourne. Also close to restaurants. We had a one bedroom apartment in the centre of the building which was nice and quiet. The apartments are a bit old and tired but perfectly comfortable. A good choice if you want to be central, have some space, be able to a bit of self catering and not spend a fortune. Would definitely stay again.

Exceptional”
I was initially disappointed as the apartment is very different to the shiny pictures they advertise. It is not at all modern. However, the building, the size of the rooms, how clean it was and the location soon made me realise what a great find it was. We would definitely stay again.

Review of Somerset Gordon Place Hotel”
We booked a deluxe double room with extra bed for our 7YO grand daughter and were provided an upgrade to a 2 bedroom apartment at no additional cost. When our grand daughter anounced to the staff that she was celebrating her birthday, she was presented with a teddy bear gift. Staff were efficient, friendly and professional. The self contained facilities offer an affordable o ption for longer stays, reducing the need to eat out. Adjacent to the lower level is a delightful alfresco eating area. The hotel is conveniently located to shopping, theatres and an array of Asian restaurants. Cleanliness was a notable feature of the hotel. We woould certainly use this accommodation in the future.

Our family with 8 adults and 6 children had booked 3 units of 2-bedrooms apartment. The 3 units' design are different and we love room-34 the most. Room-34 is double story, the room is big enough for all of us to group together. But 2 unit's washing machine are not functioning and 1 without washing machine.

Great little spot, just needs a bit of a lift...”
Stay was great. But with reception now being at Quest Lonsdale, transporting cases between the two venues can be awkward. The only negatives were that some investment needs to be paid into upgrading the heating/cooling systems - especially in Melbourne climates! Other than a couple of other minor fixture and fitting tidy ups, the place is in a great location and a comfortable and convenient place to put your head down in for a few days stay in Melbourne.

Great and quiet building ”
Place is located in quieter part of CBD. No issues with noise at night. Room was spacish. Only cons was: 1. Hot water ran out for two people. 2. Initial instructions given in email day to go to next door hotel to get keys. This was incorrect and their receptionist was rude.

Good value for money. ”
Stayed here for a night. No real complaints. The building was quite beautiful. The apartment and furniture were a little dated and dark and could do with some upgrading / renovation (renovation is probably limited due to the heritage value). However, the staff were very friendly and welcoming, the location is excellent and overall it was good value for money. I would happily stay here again.

Great Location”
Rooms were big with plenty of room. Great apartment if you're looking for somewhere for two couples or a family to stay. Beds comfortable. Central to everything. Car park is very narrow. Wouldn't like to park a large vehicle.
