Kep Province hotels & places to stay

There's really nothing you can say against the Veranda. The penthouse room was beautiful and spacious, with natural stone decoration. Our porch had a gorgeous view of the Gulf of Thailand, with plenty of seating space. There were three of us, and one slept in the double bed, one in an extra single bed and one on a raised mattress on the porch. The staff was excellent - we were brought a fruit basket and they were very attentive. We would stay here again, and didn't really want to leave! The Veranda is a bit pricier than other hotels in Kep, but it's worth.

We paid approximately US$50 for garden view rooms, which is a sensational price for such a luxurious property, which could cost $200 per night. Each room is different and contains individual pieces of vintage furniture, so it is a gamble as to what your room will be. We paid extra for a seaview room but our friends in the garden view room had a better view of the sea, so don't bother with the 'seaview' which just means it is upstairs. Unfortunately like many very stylish properties, 'designer' is more important than good design. For example our room had no full length mirror and the only mirror was behind the deep bathroom basin, which was useless. The furniture was more lovely than comfortable and convenient. However it was all very pretty and the bed was comfortable. The rooms are way to stylish to have a television but there is a large one in the library room which also has a nice big table for a hand of cards. The real delights are the gardens and pool and the excellent drinking and dining at the Sailing Club next door. Careful with those two for one cocktails at happy hour! There is an upmarket restaurant on site called The Strand where the food is good and of course stylish, and the service will probably improve as the staff gain experience. Obviously do not book any tours or travel arrangements at an expensive property like this. There are plenty of travel agents at Kep Beach. The Crab Market is next door to the Resort and the walk into Kep Beach is a pleasant one.

Absolutely top drawer. Restaurant however needs time to mature - normal in Cambodia- in 6 months this will be the only place I'd want to stay again. But with Kep being so small, other restaurants and food options are available, so I'd happily still give Samanea top marks purely on the beautiful setting, rooms and wonderful staff.

The first thing when you arrive at the hotel is how close to the beach it is, just a short walk across the road, it would be the closest hotel to Kep beach in all of Kep, about the only bad thing I could say about the hotel is the stairs they are like a daily fitness regime, I only stayed a couple of days but climbing those stairs were a killer, however the best views are from the top floor and they are magnificent so the climb is more than worth it, the staff are really friendly and the food at the restaurant was surprisingly good, if you want seafood you will need to go to a different restaurant other than that very good food and well priced, the only gripe is the breakfast is a bit basic and may not suit everyone and it's not included in the price so if you wish to get breakfast elsewhere no big deal, and again the view from the restaurant stunning, the rooms are of a good size and nice decor and clean, a little maintenance is needed as the seals on the doors are coming away, nice size bathroom with reasonable pressure and a short wait for hot water, the only gripe would be at a random time the toilet decides to drain which in the middle of the night was quite loud (it makes a loud bubbling sound) the curtains could do with an upgrade as they are not block out and since the morning sun hits the front of the hotel the room lights up quickly, not a problem for me as I'm an early riser but if you like to sleep in well good luck, if you want a quiet stay come during the week as this is the quietest time in Kep as the weekends a very popular with the locals and they will travel from Phnom Penh for some time by the beach, was interesting to see, however spoils the tranquility of Kep, If you're thinking of a quiet time by the beach this is the place to come, this is what Sihanoukville was like 10 years ago, if you want to party this is NOT the place for you, overall I enjoyed my stay at the Saravoan, and their Coffee shop sells a great coffee with a surprisingly large c

We loved the theme and the decor of the hotel - the blue theme allowed us to feel super relaxed. The hotel is situated just right behind Kep beach (a 1-2 mins walk to the Naked Lady Statue which you can see from the hotel's balcony) and we loved the location. We bought at happy hour cocktail and brought it across the road to the beach to watch the beautiful sunset. Some of our fellow guests chose to watch the sunset at the hotel's bar & restaurant, or at the hotel's balcony - all awesome spots that gave us a direct view of the sunset. The hotel is also situated in between Crab Market and Kep Market. You can choose to take a 3-5 mins tuk-tuk ride to the Crab Market and the row of restaurants next to it or take a slow 20+mins walk by the coastline. This is a highly recommended hotel and its staff were friendly and super helpful as well. We loved it!

We did not know what to expect when we turned up here as had no reviews we took a chance as seemed good value for money . We was very pleased when we got here with fantastic friendly staff who could not do enough for us including free hire of brand new mountain bike ladies & Gents but they also had a tandem bike it made our holiday such fun riding that around kep . Location is great 5 mins walk to the main sand beach and very quiet lovely sea views nearly booked a few other hotels here but so glad we didn't now as we went and looked and no where near as nice as this and more expensive ! A lovely clean hotel with a fantastic large pool with lots chillout areas sun beds . Food very good too . We will definitely only stay here when we come again .

We stayed with our two year old son. The room was amazing--bigger than our apartment in Phnom Penh! Very new, clean, beautiful, opulent and child-friendly space. There was not much he could hurt himself on or damage, which we count as big pluses! The staff were wonderfully flexible in helping us to adapt and create plans and meals that were suitable for his 2-year old whims! The location is great, a very easy walk from the Crab Market and a slightly longer walk from the beach. They gave us a plate of fresh fruit in our room every day which was lovely!!!! The pool is beautiful and well-kept as well. My husband used the fitness room and said it's great, but could be improved if they provided water. The only down side is the spa is not (yet?) open. There was not much to do besides enjoy the room, and the pool, and the room again!

We had a wonderful time at Mealea. The bungalow was spacious and beautiful with a charming open air bathroom. We both liked the beautiful garden. Olivier and his staff were very friendly, helpful, and attentive. The resort is just a couple of steps away from the wonderful restaurants at the Crab Market and even close enough to Kep Beach, if you feel like walking. I will certainly stay at Mealea Resort again the next time I am in Kep.

Probably the best bungalow resort experience we had so far on our trip, this Cambodian-owned resort has a very beautiful garden with nice scents (frangipani, tamarind, ylangylang etc.), probably the biggest and best pool in town. It is great value for money. The friendly manager(Mr. Sam) has a good connection in the area,helps out with anything (surprisingly, Bus tickets to Kampot and moto rentals are not more expensive than outside), free bicycles are available and a decent breakfast is provided. We also had lunch at the restaurant, the food is very authentic and the portions are large. The rooms are spacious and very clean and the resort is managed nicely. I highly recommend Le Kep.

Our couple visited from Nov 9 ~ 12. And it was THE BEST hotel in Cambodia. The best thing about Le Ponton is its location. It is ONLY 30 SECONDS walking distance from Crab Market which is the main place you get to spend time in KEP. We ate at Crab Market, we rent a motorbike in Crab Market, we bought some daily stuff (ie. toothpaste, water, beer) at Crab Market and walked back to Le Ponton in less than 1 minute. Rooms are perfectly managed as well. We had two cleaning staffs who did amazing jobs. Also, the reception staff helped us with so many things - we had some confusion regarding Rith Travel bus back to Phnom Penh, but the reception staff took care of it all. And the owner, he is a French gentleman and provided us with some requests with a very kind gesture. We could sincerely feel the effort he put in to this hotel. Every corner is a bless - such a beautiful entrance and garden, amazing bar with great cocktails. I truly wanted to have a place like this myself. I would go back to Le Ponton 200% if I get to visit KEP. The highest recommendation for Le Ponton.

okay. my comments can be summed up in the benefits. Kep is a small, relaxing little place where one gets an idea of what the past French residents enjoyed on weekend getaways from PNH. There isn t much to see (except rabbit island, well worth it, and a walk in the jungle), but Kep makes a great excursion outside of the city to see the countryside on the way down, and a small portion of Cambodian beach side, without the tourism of a larger resort area. The hotel is lovely, charming rooms in bungalow style, beautiful pool, pretty gardens. It sort of gives you a feeling of it being your weekend home, actually. We were not there long, but it will definitely be recommended. The staff were helpful, the managers friendly and pleasant, and professional.

The place sit on quiet area. Each room design is different in color theme. PRO: Price is good, location in the Kep city seem very lonely but it's a quiet and relaxing stay. Outdoor swimming pool is big and clean. CON: the hotel have no public door, it's located near the mountain, therefore, alot of insect are flying around the area of hotel, but there no harmful. However, it might borthering some people.

Au pradis bleu is a very well kept, nice looking and tranquil hotel with a great pool area surrounded by lovely tropical plants. The hostess, Ann-Marie is friendly and you really feel wellcomed! The service is good and also individual wishes are taken account, like they can repair a meal for you according to your choise. The rooms and other facilities are very clean. Bikes are available for the quests without extra fee. Location is near the peer for boats to Rabbit island and Kep coffee shop. Perfect place to rest and enjoy the seashore relaxation.

Having stayed at many hotels in Kep we decided to give Q Bungalows a try and were very pleased with our stay, so much so we have already booked to go next month. The staff were friendly and attentive, the pool is large with nice places to sit and the breakfast pretty good. The hotel is only a few mins walk away from the crab market and Kep Beach. A great value stay!

A great spot for a few days of relaxing. Very convenient location, just a short walk from the Crab Market, Sailing Club (for happy hour cocktails) and Kep National Park. The beach is a little further, but still walkable or the hotel has bikes available. Staff were great - helpful with recommendations and onwards travel bookings, and friendly. As an added bonus, there are three ducks that roam the property in a pack. The bungalows are really nice and fairly spacious, with seating on a small porch surrounded by greenery.

We had such a great time here. Our room was perfect and very large with a very comfortable bed. The swimming pool was good for a relaxing swim. Management/staff were so kind and really looked after us. Hotel is close to the beach and about a 10 min easy walk to the crab market. Definitely recommend this hotel in Kep.

I stayed here with my family (my wife, my 16 years old son and my 9 years old daughter) in June 2015. I can highly recommend this hotel to anybody going to Kep. What we appreciated the most were : - the charming and nicely decorated bungalows with air-conditioning - the nice swimming pool in the middle of a tropical garden - The breakfast with a great choice (included in the price) - the friendly and helpful staff (in particular Mr. Sophat the manager) - the well maintained and clean infrastructure The Darica Resort was the best hotel during our travel in Cambodia.

My friends and I stayed in the Penthouse Suite and had a wonderful time in Kep. The room was large, comfortable, and had a great view of the ocean. It was a short walk to both the crab market and Kep National Park. The staff was great and the included breakfast was delicious. We wished we could have stayed another night or two, but we already had accommodations booked at our next destination.

Location - set back just off the main road in a nice quiet spot yet close enough to use the free cycles provided to get anywhere in Kep. Hotel - The setting is lovely. The rooms are set around a central area that is home to the pool and is dotted with flowering trees and other plants that provide shade when needed. The open air bar/restaurant area is on the ground floor under a stilted building also alongside the pool.The tree houses contain rough seats and tables but have power and catch the breeze when it is hot. The rooms themselves are floor to ceiling wood making them somewhat dark during the day but great for sleeping. The king suites have their own private terraces with tables and chairs. Breakfast - is good. Always toast; french bread; eggs and pancakes cooked to order; choice of fruits and salad items; and a couple of asian dishes. We ate in every night because the food was so tasty but be prepared to wait a while as everything is freshly made. You can always enjoy happy hour cocktails while you wait. Staff - Channy, the young manager, was excellent. He spoke good english, was very friendly and organised tuk tuks and scooter rentals for us. We had a small problem with the room on arrival that was resolved very quickly and without fuss. I’m guessing most of the staff were quite new as they started a little nervous and unsure of themselves, however, they were all very keen to help and by the end of our 5 days they had all improved. Overall we were very happy with our stay and would recommend this hotel. We will return next time we’re in Cambodia.

We booked this hotel on impulse after our hotel in nearby Kampiot failed to live up to our expectations. And we're really glad we did otherwise we may have missed this true gem of a hotel. After a smooth and friendly check-in we were given room 9, tucked away in one corner of the pool area, and away enough to feel somewhat secluded from other (few) guests staying in the hotel. The pool and dining areas are exceptional, with staff always attentive to anything you might want or need. The new French owners, though understandably nervous, are very keen to make sure you enjoy your stay and genuinely seem to want honest feedback. I have to say she is very lucky to have a team that inherently understand customer service and have a real sense of investment in their jobs - couldn't be faulted at any stage. Rooms are spacious, and quite quirky - loved the bathroom, even if there were the occasional water pressure issues, though this is to be expected given the location. The hotel itself is really convenient to the Crab market - a short, and fairly pleasant walk down the hill. Beware though, as we'd decided to extend our walk around the Kep Beach and the "old town". Kep Beach, though it looks like a short walk, is a fair distance, and the Old Town is much, much further...definitely not one to be undertaken in the heat of the day as we did! Not sure whether we ever did actually find the old town - we found mostly just a collection of very few old French-style villas and walls crumbling into the surrounding countryside from what we could see. However, Kep is a really relaxed place, and just that little bit more special than nearby Kampot which really doesn't have that spark. I'd definitely recommend this hotel for any traveller passing through Kep - enjoy it for what it is, and you won't be at all disappointed

The room was great, clean room, big room, comfortable with a balcony view to the sea. And the sky bar on the roof top was the best place in Kep. And near the pier to Rabbit island, I really love this place! Come to Kep u should come to Ocean Breeze Hotel!

I was lucky enough to be upgraded to a room because room I had booked was taken. I decided to stay an extra night in the cheaper room, which was pleasant enough, but without air-con or a fridge. Kep is expensive by Cambodia standards so although costs more, still value for money. Pool is big and kept clean. The views are beautiful, and the hotel is right next to the national park and tuk tuks into town should cost no more than $1-2 so very well placed. Food wasn't fantastic, but there's so many great places to eat in Kep that it wasn't a problem. I ate breakfast at nearby Veranda, which does a seriously fantastic breakfast buffet for $6 - and is worth every penny.

I went to Kep to investigate and explore the Ghost Mansions of Kep (Abandoned mansions from the 70's) so what better way to do so then to stay in one that has kept it's heart and had it's soul renewed and with a history the Owner is only too willing to share, get lost in it's past while enjoying it's present. It is a short Tuk, tuk trip from the famous crab markets and then on into town. Feel the history, great for those who have a family or even just a young one.

Blissful and restorative; With our first views of the shaded access to rooms and a pool, entry through to the reception desk began to strip Phnom Penh tension. The fresh, cool ocean air confirmed we had made the right choice. For a compact hotel it had several distinctly different enviroments, perhaps the restaurant being the most striking, giving views to the pool and the ocean with fresh breezes wafting through and beautifully prepared Khmer dishes being served many featuring green Kampt peppercorns. The pool was steps away from the rooms but had a very different, almost ethereal ambience, almost hushed, soft like a meditation chamber. We sat by the pool, had a cocktail and watched a beautiful dusk with a new moon appearing. Our ground-level room with veranda was high ceilinged, well fitted-out with storage, simply decorated and had a great bath area. There is an option not to be air conditioned with a giant mosquito net and a gentle fan, letting you take advantage of Kep's wonderful air at night. Our hosts were gracious and helpful in getting us to Kep's fish market for a crab lunch and a great pepper farm tour on short notice for our all too brief weekend getaway. It was difficult to leave this haven and all the other things Kep offers. Oh, and did I mention ocean breezes?

The Riviera Hotel in Kep just opened a few months ago and it is wonderful. The owner, Sovanna, was great and helpful. We were able to book excursions and a motorbike directly with her. She helped arrange taxi to/from Sihanoukville Airport. All the staff (including the friendly bartender!) were delightful. The place is brand new, clean and lovely - it is only 8 rooms so it is a small size and never crowded. Food was delicious. The location is great (right between the beach and port to Rabbit Island). Lots of French speakers staying/having drinks/dinner. Thanks for a great week in Kep!

we had such a good time at Villa Kep Resort, it was the highlight of our 4 week honymoon trip, the bungalow was delightful and we did not miss the TV at all, the breakfasts where great and the staff friendly, the Finish owners made us feel most welcome and took out time to chat with us, we also enjoyed the lovely pool and manicured gardens, as well as the fresh vegetable patch where many of the food served are grown. Maybe the only drawback is the bad access road, but taking a Tuck-tuck to town or the crab market is easy and the staff is helpful and get transport quickly. Our stay at Villa KEP Resort was the highlight of our trip. The resort is adults only, so no screaming kids at the pool.

Good for people who want peace and quiet, away from the noise. Just a quick tuktuk ride to Kep beach and Crab market, less than five minutes. It is right next to the pier. Nice staff. A few local cheap eateries around. Thank you!

Nice and clean place, right at the beatiful small sandy beach. Cheap khmer restaurant with excellent food right in front of the hotel. Crab market 15 min walk or 3 min via tuk-tuk (1$). Good value for money. Would come back again.

Being suffocated by tuk tuk drivers getting off the bus from Phnom Penh, we paid $2.50 for the 3km drive just outside of Kep to Visual Sak. Our room was in perfect condition upon arrival, very clean, private bathroom, big comfortable bed ($6/night). There is a restaurant with very good and quite reasonably priced food on the 2nd floor, making it okay that the hostel is always out of town. We rented bicycles for $2/day and easily biked into and around the town. Would definitely stay here again! Unfortunately we had a bad experience with P.L.C tours in Kep. We had booked a fishing trip for the day and were taken to Rabbit Island in the morning to catch our fishing boat, which never showed up. Having had paid for the tour in advance upon arriving back in Kep later that after we confronted the tour agent, and he was very apologetic explaining there had been a mix-up. He told us he would refund us the money we had paid to go fishing and have lunch, however he did not have the money right now and would give it to us the next morning before we left Kep. When we arrived the next morning to collect our refund, the owner was "nowhere to be found" and his employees claimed they did not know when we would be back, so we has to leave without recieving our refund. I can say with confidence that we were not the first victims to this company as it seemed like a big joke to the employees. I would highly recommend NOT booking anything with this company,we were very disappointed.
