What makes this hotel attractive is the affordable room price that doesn't compromise on the facilities. Located on the northeastern coast of Samui, Samui Mermaid Hotel is on Bang Rak Beach, known for its Big Buddha statue. None of the buildings are higher than the coconut trees, so the area retains an old world feel. Getting to the nearby islands of Koh Pha Ngan and Koh Tao is extremely easy with the nearby pier. The island of Samui offers numerous activities, both water and land based, including diving, jungle tours, paintball, cooking, and bungee jumping. Beachfront rooms with budget prices make Samui Mermaid Hotel a popular option.

Great resort, Good friendly staff, Great pools both side of the road, love the fan rooms on the road side and great pool there as well, rooms are clean and new looking, don't listen to the snobby reviews, this is a great resort for a great price in a lively area about 10 minutes bike ride from chaweng, only downside is on flight path to airport but didn't bother me and has nothing to do with the hotel, all in all , you can't go wrong with this place, brilliant.
Lovely rooms but VERY noisy ”
Pros - lovely room with fridge tv toiletries set in lovely gardens! Lovely pools and small but nice beach on site! Near Buddha and a couple of miles from fisherman’s village and very near ferry terminal to Ko Phangan! Cons - is so VERY VERY noisy with airplanes landing from 6am until dark - you feel like you need to duck! Busy main road also!
Could be great with some TLC”
We stayed in room 112 which had the worst smell of blocked drains I have ever smelt and our sink wouldn’t drain properly. Probably where the smell was coming from. The shower had a mind of its own and we’re left standing round the toilet when showering which of course isn’t ideal or the most hygienic. All the other bungalows seemed to have a main spot light too except ours and you could see where it had been removed with no paint cover up which proved to be very difficult when it came to my girlfriend seeing correctly in the mirror to do her make up before our evening meal. We did opt to stay for another night however although this was due to us changing plans on our travels and needed the extra day to plan where to go next, of course this time wasn’t spend in “the smelly room” We also had 1 towel between 2 on arrival and when asking reception they said they would leave one on our porch the day before yesterday. We checked today and are still waiting for this towel to arrive 😂
Room very nice big and clean, have 3 pools for enjoy the day, location its good close to big budha and airport. The best was the staff, special mention to Ratchanok and Rezon who helped me a lot with everything i needed being so kind and professional. With them you dont to think just enjoy holidays :)
Absolutely outstanding in every way! ”
Loved this place! Cannot fault it in any way. If I could give 100 stars I would! The staff a so friendly, treat you like a vip, always there to help you. The location is perfect, having your own private beach is a touch. We stayed in the sea view Bungalows and they are amazing. We actually stayed here during Storm Pabuk and considering we were right on the beach, it hardly affected us and the staff came checking we were OK and reassured us not to worry. They sell beautiful food at cheap prices in the beachfront restaurant and their 24 hour restaurant/bar over the road. The surrounding area is not too busy and has a 7/11 five minutes up the road and there's a few restaurants very close, Including Bangrak Cafe which does a better full English than we have back in England! I will certainly be coming back here on my next thailand trip.
pro & con: right next to the airport”
This is a lovely resort. My girlfriend and I are budget backpackers, but needed a place for the night before an early flight the next day. Got a great last min deal on Agoda. Read in reviews that plane traffic is loud but figured that would be the case considering its so close to the airport. But damn, it sounds like a space shuttle might be landing on the roof of your bungalow! Had a nice time relaxing in the pool, but I instinctively had to duck when a plane flew overhead because it felt that close. Didn't have any issue sleeping though - either my earplugs blocked out the noise or plane traffic subsided overnight. Otherwise this place is lovely and the staff are amazingly helpful! Would definitely stay again with discount Agoda price.
Excellent with some warnings”
The hotel is great value for money but be warned that it is located just a few hundred meters from the airport and planes are landing or taking off straight up from your room, starting at 6am until 11pm. That was fine for us and we got used to such noise but I believe it can be stressful for young children.
Great place, value and staff! ”
I have been in Thailand for 11 years and on Samui for nearly 2 years. Samui Mermaid is right on the beach and has a quaint swimming pool. Perfect place for relaxing. The beach is not the greatest (most beautiful) beach on Samui, but excellent value for the price. The on-site restaurants have a wide array of food and beverage choices including exceptional traditional Thai food. You can easily walk to other restaurants, 7/11 and other establishments near the hotel. There's plenty of 'night-life' also....not the same as Chaweng or Lamai...but you do not have to travel far to find it. If you have transportation (a motorcycle), you can get to any part of the island easily. If not, public transportation to other island locations is not difficult. Only 5 minutes to the airport. VERY fast and easy check-in. Every staff member was friendly. Samui is beautiful. Samui Mermaid is a wonderful resort, but the staff at the resort was the most impressive. Thanks for a terrific stay.
Great resort, ”
Great Swimming pools , restaurants, and staff, good location.
Ticks ALL the boxes”
Everyone knows there’s no such thing as a TEN BUT THIS COULD BE AS CLOSE AS IT GETS Wide range of rooms to chose from...whether student / backpacker or a family , or average tourist. Choice of rooms , choice of prices. Great location on Big Buddha Beach. Backed up with 3 types of swimming pool. Beds are comfortable , hot water always on tap. Cleaning services terrific , both in room and the well tailored grounds and pools. No breakfasts included in price , but reasonably priced restaurant and bar. Rande of menu and price acceptable WIFI could do with a big revamp, repeated sign- on a pain in the butt, but signal good. The lad in the restaurant could do with a refresher course
Great budget choice”
Really nice hotel, staff we great and the area is a touch quieter than nearer the port. Cheaper bungalow was across the road from the main hotel, but there was a third pool over there which was good. Definitely choose air con, the fan room was way too hot!! Would stay again, but would want to be on the beach in the main resort. Would certainly recommend for a budget stay
On the beach, great rooms ( A $ 70 ) we up graded to the very flash room on the pool. Choice between two pools, garden setting. Great food at reasonable prices. WIFI good, hot water and showers good. Close to many of the must-see sights, shops and cafes on the doorstep. Staff very helpful. ( we travel for two months every year in Asia/Thailand and this resort ranks in the top five )
Great value, especially if you like low flying planes!”
This place is great; good price, nice rooms and well maintained. I stayed across the road in a fan bungalow and it was fine. Yes, the planes are loud, but I actually enjoyed seeing them. The only problem would be if you had a child, then you would have to stay across the road in the better insulated, air conditioned rooms where you could keep the windows closed.
Great value for money”
Very close to the airport for people who needs that. On the other side there are plain arriving every 20mins or so, kinda loud noise if you mind that one. We didnt, it was fun looking at the plains flying so close. Have 3 pools, 1 in garden side, and 2 on the beach front. Nice chill place. Room was okay. there was 2 bottles of water and fridge. fridge was a bit dirty. all and all it was nice stay. 7eleven very close. 2 mins walk, also many restaurants around. place has 2 restaurants also inside the resort.
1 night before/afrer the airport”
We went in a standard room on the little mermaid side. It does its job for a cheap night in a bungalow before heading to the airport in the early morning or arriving late and taking the boat the next day. Staff is excellent, you have access to a pool and you can find restaurants and bars on the road. The bungalow is off the road so you don’t hear the traffic but you shouldn’t be afraid of planes flying really low. It starts at 6am, a good alarm not to miss your own flight. We choosed this place to 2 times we travelled by Koh Samui.
3 great pools clean small beach attached to property, near shops and motorbike rental, near airport ”
Free airport pick up from hotel if you book direct, relatively quiet BUT next to airport but you get used to it been staying here 16 years, never had any problems
We had a great stay here, the location wasn’t so great but the staff were so friendly and the facilities were great. The planes were very noisy and woke us up in the morning but they stop at 10pm.
Very good value for money. The weather was awful but can't blame the hotel for that...
Great place for the price. Room was clean and vibrant. Short walk to the beach. Hotel has a restaurant that appears to be 24 hours. Highly recommend if you want to see the big Buddha. Only 15 min walk
Value, great facilities, Staff A++”
Samui Mermaid has a choice of many rooms: from beach side to garden. Bth have swimming pools, always clean. Now the garden side is close to the airport, but this is because of the runway expansion. don't be put off, the rooms are good, but Samui Mermaid you need to have better fans & up date the air con in all rooms). I cant complain for the money I paid. The 24 hour restaurant & with room service has gone up i price, but again, they are not expensive for tourist prices. Will stay again (as previous many years). Great access to airport / Seatran boat to Koh Tao, Koh Phangan & Haad Rin queen boat to Koh Phangan. Lots of different tours ie. Angthong available too :)
