Greeted with friendly staff. First time travel to Aceh and staff were helpful in providing information on places we wanted to go to and even helped us out on the best timing to go there. Hotel was generally clean, tidy and smells nice. Would definitely go back here if we visit Aceh again.

Nice domestic hotel for short stays”
Fairly uneventful stay, which is what we're after :) The Sulthan is a domestic business hotel, offering much better value than nearby hotels available on Agoda. Note that only a few of the staff speak english (a very common thing in Aceh); that the wifi in the rooms is poor - it only works in the lobby; and that there are often many mosquitos in the lobby (but not the rooms) - something that is a real problem in Banda Aceh as there has been a lot of dengue fever there this year. Saying that, this is one of the better hotels in Banda Aceh, and offers good value. Just use the wifi in the lobby, and cover-up and use lots of DEET!

Great location and warm friendly staff”
The hotel is one of well served accommodation in Banda Aceh. Near by city center, this hotel also near by Pasar Atjeh and several famous places to visit in town, such as Masjid Baiturahman, one of survivor building from tsunami on 2004. Hotel staff is warm and friendly. They are also helpful and taking good care of guest stuff and luggage. The room is comfort enough tough not spacious. Cleanliness a bit poor, for I got dirt mark on the sheet. Bathroom is wet, maybe because of leakage.

Average stay, nothing to remember”
Fine hotel in the middle of Banda Aceh. Breakfast very moderate, room OK but expect nothing special. Think the standard of the hotel is good for this town/area though. Only stayed there overnight to go to Pulau Weh early next Day.

Old hotel and old times”
It was my first time to travel to Banda Aceh, so I dont know much about this town and I just pick the hotel based on its 3 stars, but then I was surprised about the condition of the hotel, it is an old hotel who need to be renovated. Probably this hotel is luxury in its old days.

Not recommended Hotel”
A big no no for this Sulthan Hotel International. It is ashamed for this hotel stating itself as an international standard hotel. It was such a big regret for me having chosen to stay at this hotel on my last trip to Banda Aceh as I could not find another hotel. As for my next trip to Banda Aceh, it is better for me to cancel or change my trip if I could not get another hotel rather than have to stay at this hotel. With a big regret, I would not recommend this hotel. I would suggest Agoda to consider the cooperation with this hotel.

Strategic, Affordable Hotel with Friendly Staff”
We had booked a Superior room through Agoda.com. However, the Superior room was quite small to our standard and the the sink was leaking. We requested to change a Deluxe by paying the difference. The Deluxe room was definately bigger and more comfortable for us. The staff was friendly and efficient enough to accommodate our request. The breakfast served was moderate in variety. with rice, noodles, fish crackers, toast bread, tea/coffee and juices. The location is strategically located to Baitul Rahman Mosque (the mosque that survived from being perished during the 2004 Tsunami, Plunge Blange Cut Village (where the 2600 ton diesel powered electric generator was pushed 5km to the village), and the Tsunami Museum.

The room is clean but a little old. No tea and coffee in the room. The bathroom look old, toilet door is ageing. Need up gred. Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is ok. Overall rating about 3.0 .

I selected this hotel because it is near the hotel and its rates were representative of its no-frills package. That's pretty much what you get with the conditions of the rooms.

The rooms were a bit dated and cleanliness not up to par. There is a gloomy atmosphere along the corridors. The aircon was not working properly in the first room that was alloted but after complaints i was moved to another room. The bathroom fittings were old and not very clean. If not for the location i would have opted for a better furnished hotel.
