Give it a miss. ”
Run down and shabby and needs a good clean. I booked a room with an air conditioner. On arrival I was offered a room with a glorified fan on a very hot day. After much arguing. I was given another room but the aircon did not work. The manager swore blond it was ok. After another row, eventually a technician was called and duly confirmed my complaint. The bathrooms are shared by all the rooms and are outside. When I went to shower there was no bottled soap. Only a dirty bar of soap that had been used by who knows who. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Great place to stay”
Very friendly and informal hotel with 3 rooms in charming old French building smack in the old colonial quarter. French owner Nico very helpful and social, giving a feeling more of visiting a friend rather than staying in a hotel. Minutes from Mekong. Good choice!!

It was every bit as nice as I expected!”
The owner, a Frenchman, was very nice and knowledgeable about everything that we needed to know, and he was always smiling. The king size bed was the best quality I have ever found in a hotel setting, and the place was modern and always clean! Our room had no AC, but we had 2 fans and the air flow from outside was excellent. The one and only thing to consider is that you must climb a spiral staircase to get to your room. If for some reason your legs can't handle stairs, just keep that in mind. Yes, I recommend it!

Very nice basic house dating back 100 years. ”
Amiable French owner will help you find local amenities, transport, etc. No ensuite or other Hotel facilities. A quiet, clean, private, relaxing base, in a nice neighbourhood, 300m from the banks of the Mekong.

charm, comfort, and care”
This is likely the best place to stay in Savannakhet! Niko and Tou's guesthouse is home away from home with its charm, comfort, and attentive care. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here.

Wonderful accomodation in sleeping town”
I bet that this hotel is one of the accomodation in the world for my travelling life more than 70 countries. You might think $30 is a bit expensive for shared bath room but it doesn't matter much. Try it. Room, Location and Staff was perfect! I have stayed in this hotel for two nights with my daughter, 5 years old. She loved everything in this hotel. She loves wide and clean bed, small cute desk and tiny lump but in very good taste in the room, beautiful, wooden stairs, pleasant to touch, small day bed in upstairs courtyard, open aired shower room and Mr. Niko and P'Nook, who are running this hotel in good condition and good taste. And we had a very pleasant stay because of attentive managers. Niko gave us advise on the best way to walk and travel around Savanakhet with a small child. After our travel, my daughter is still saying to me almost everyday, 'When shall we meet Niko and his wife next time? Shall we go to Laos next week?' Thank you and see you soon, Niko!

My second stay at Vivanouk. The owner Nico is an excellent host. New menu is probably the best in town for Western and Eastern cuisine.

When you arrive in savannaphet and I suggest you stay a few days here is only one place that needs to be stayed at. This place, nico is one Awesome person and The place is the height of excellence. The bathroom and shower one of the greatest. The food served at night delightful and every morning of you wake up early you wake up with the town but if you don't no big deal as the sleeping here will keep you well rested and well charmed. Nico makes a great coffee and is an excellent host. Come stay buy a sovereign. Come all.

Beautiful charming place. ”
My stay was memorable. I had a great time walking around to explore the neighborhood. Vivanouk located in the prime location. Old town and night market where you can find authentic street food. I love the hotel decor, book selection, and hospitable of the host. We rented bicycle and took off to Bungva Lake early morning. Vivanouk has everything to offer, clean and spacious, variety food item on the menu.

French Colonial Gem”
In the heart of old colonial Suvannakhet, the Vivanouk is ideally placed to explore the charms of this area. It is owned by someone who offers every guest a personal welcome and the feeling that they are a guest in a friend's home, not an anonymous guest. The accommodation is deliberately old fashioned so don't expect a bland experience. No A/C nor en-suite facilities are examples - but the alternative arrangements are more than acceptable. Not for everyone but for those who want a different and rewarding experience I would encourage them to stay.
