          Above average”

Property has no elevator(3 floors). Good location next to Lao Airlines city office, Joma coffee and not too fare from night market. Staff were friendly. We requested to move from 3rd floor since there is no elevator. They gave us a room on the first floor. still we faced the problem of staff talking during the day very loud or on the phone right in front of our room since our room next to kitchen and coffee making area. There was no privacy for us at all.

The problems with this hotel were 1. really poor AC during the hot day, would spit out ice if you turned it too high, 2. shower took a very long time to get warm (never hot) but maybe it was because I was on the third floor, 3. way too bright at day, if you need to rest or nap, 4. very basic internet, don't expect to do anything other than send emails. Having said all that, I still think the place was a good option. I didn't see any bedbugs, which is on almost all the reviews for hotels near this price. It did have wifi, even if it was slow. The beds were really pretty comfortable, after the sun went down, it cooled a bit. The staff was pretty accommodating. The location was perfect. The breakfast omelet was better than most hotel buffet breakfasts. Cable tv with english channels.

Conveniently located, this small hotel offers a pleasant stay. The only problem with the equipment is the fridge which is turned off every time you leave the room and take the key. In other words, the fridge is never cold.

          Worst Hotel Ever!”

It was the worst hotel ever! Worst experience in all my life! Booked the hotel on Agoda. Arrived at the hotel and the reception said they were full. I had to argue with him to make him understand that my booking was over Agoda and demand my room. It was late in the evening, my family and I was very exhausted from our long road trip. Instead of being responsible and provide us the service we need. The staff was very rude and unsupportive. It turned out they gave rooms reserved by Agoda to walking in traffic! He told me to find another hotel for the night and come back tomorrow. I asked for a full refund and he called his boss and he replied saying he can only give refund on the first night but we have to stay the next night. We arrived back the next day to check in for our last night of the full booking. It was completely a disgrace. The room was so old and dirty. Had a very bad smell. There were no tooth brush and shampoo and other requirement that was standard for a hotel. The air conditioner was old. The remote to TV and air conditioner was faulty. Free breakfast was like a meal cooked in 5 seconds without much thought. It was the worst experience in all my travelling life. The staff was completely useless. Seating around like fools. No service what so ever. For the price paid for it was a complete disgust! For 1/3 of the price can get a better room at a backpacker outlet. This was a trash can not a hotel!

          Cleanliness, Location, Transportation

The hotel has the basic facilities and is quite clean. The location is close to the Mekong River, eating places and government offices. There are a lot of Buddhist temples around and a night market takes place just across the road on the banks of the Mekong River. It is nice to go for morning walks along the river bank.

          Location

Good Location to river front and places that serve good coffee Short walk to everything, I did eat close to hotel one day looked like thai food was ok. As you walk up several streets from your location, where are more hostels and back packers hang out things are cheaper for food and drink, European tavern that serve different beers as you walk street towards river take a left and keep walking for money exchanges, street that follows the river and also has the night markets. Tried several tour agents for travel, wanted me to rent whole van at $ 137 USA, since they do not sell tickets and collect people for travel. Maybe try arrange travel before or travel in a group. Hotel has no breakfast and just a good location and laid back staff, would stay again for the price. If coming by Bus be ready to be attacked my tuk tuk drivers and have phone number of hotel. They take baht, US and Lao money and I used Lao money during trip, not like Cambodia.

          Good location basic hotel”

Location, friendly staff and room size

This was a return visit for me to the Vongkhamsene Hotel so I knew what to expect and I was not dissapointed even though it is a basic 2 star hotel. My room with twin beds was clean and a reasonable size. It had a large bathroom with a shower that could fit 3 or 4 people. It is a basic hoitel but if you are not expecting bells and whistles then it will suite you for a short stay. The only problem I found on this visit was the contruction work happening in the building next to the hotel which started at 6am and went til about 6pm at nite, most disturbing to your morning sleep however once that construction is finished it will be fine. The cost per nite this trip was more expensive than my last visit as it was high season. I will stay here again in the future if the price is right as the location is good and the staff friendly.

          Location, price and location

The Vongkhamsene Hotel is budget hotel with not many extras. If you are happy for a simple room to stay and a reasonable price then this hotel will suite you fine. Thee is not that much to see in Vientiane so most people would only stay a short time before travelling to other areas of Laos. Overall the hotel is ok for a short stay and there a many nice small local restaurants nearby.

Good location, near Riverside and not too far to the airport.

It was a nightmare which the aircond was totally out of order. It was leaking and lots of water coming out from the blower and very noisy due to the blower fan. The sad thing was when i make a complain to the staff, they told me that they can't do anything.... This is the 4th time i stay in this hotel since last year and the condition of the hotel is from bad to worst!

          Have good staff

This is just a normal hotel without anythings to shout about. The location is ok near Mekong River. The cleanliness of the hotel is below expectation. The towel and bedsheet is old and not that clean. No lift to the room will be problem when you get room on third floor. No shampoo, bath soup and mineral water provided and only given upon request. No electronic key card system just the normal key (less secure) and the door can't close properly always with gap that can see the light comming out from room. The FREE breakfast provided is really a joke, you got the choice of Fried Egg, Scrambled Egg or Omellet but whatever you order you will get the same i.e. Fried Scrambled Egg and they toke more than half an hour to serve you as the reception who check you in will transform to be Chef for your breakfast. However the service is real good from the staff especially the reception supervisor really done a good job and go all the way out to serve their guest. You can get a lot of local information from them e.g. find a good place for drink etc.

          Location

Me and my friend reserved 2 rooms in this hotel and we spend a lot of time in room instead of going out. We are very disapointed with the rooms as everything in the room are just basic only and you can get better room in Vientiane for the same price. The river and many restaurants are a few minutes walk away from the hotel. There are always tuk-tuks available if you need to go further. Three minutes walk down the road is the best Indian food at Fatima's Restaurant. Walk down the street towards the river, turn left at the corner and you'll find Fatima's.
