The pool is excellent but the Chinese Tour Groups are not”

It’s listed as a 4 star hotel and when it was originally built it probably was. Time has seen its splendor fade and it’s now looking a bit worn around the edges. For the price it’s still a good deal and if you’re a swimmer and need to get some laps in each day then the 20 meter pool is excellent in this regard. However, if you’re an independent western traveler be warned, this hotel is now very much an accommodation choice for the Chinese tour group hordes. The breakfast buffet is set up to suit them pretty much exclusively. The noise these people make when coming and going from the hotel in their large groups is seriously annoying. The hotel is also approx. 2.7 km from the down town (pub street area) bars and restaurants and you’ll need to grab a tuk-tuk each evening for the round trip. The cost each way is currently US 2 -3 dollars.

            Luxurious Hotel for bargain price”

Hotel is among the best in Angkor Wat. The rooms are very luxurious with 1st rate staff. the pool is very nice and provides for a nice afternoon after tramping around the heat at Angkor Wat.
Not alot of night life in Siem Reap.

This hotel is very luxerious with a budget price. Hotel seems like a 5 star. The rooms are 1st rate, service is very good, breakfast is among the best at a hotel I've had. The pool is very nice, again more like a 5 star hotel. Tucktuck taxis can negotiated for $20 for the entire day of sightseeing at Angkor Wat. Angkor Wat is 20 minutes away and 10 minutes from shopping and restaurants.

nice pool (not salt water), good buffet (go early), older but clean room, standard bathroom, because the driveway is not paved, it causes dust, making the front yard always dirty. crowded with "bus tour" people. small elevator.

            conveniece location

the room is more or less ok, considering the price. better to avoid the connecting room because it will be noisy from the next room. the breakfast buffet is not as bad as several reviews here but if there are more varieties it will be better. in general the condition of the hotel is old. there is a gym but hardly say it is usable. there was supposed to have a sauna but i couldnot find. there was no staff attending at the gym nor the swimming pool so most of the time when i stayed there, there was no one taking care of the towels. the staffs were not so friendly comparing with the allson angkor paradise hotel, which is its sister 4 stars hotel.

location is away from the backpacker's village. room is a really nice blend of old furniture and modern comfort
breakfast is bad. never stay here for a long time as selection is the same all through out

I stayed in this place because of its price. Got a 60 dollar deal for a two night stay and this is really good for me, considering the comforts of the room and the service. Its just that food at breakfast is really bad. It fills you, but it is not one that you will enjoy. But for the price, maybe it is just worth it.

the location of the hotel is not bad, though it is not really at the action scene, getting around was not difficult. breakfast is mediocre. you get almost the same menu everyday. however, I loved their fresh fruit salad. the staff are friendly. the elevator is small, it could only fit 3 people comfortably. however, the hotel is only at 4 or 5th floor you will not have a problem using the stairs. you can arrange sedan transport to Poipet border with them, which costs $45.

            Allson Angkor Hotel Siem Reap”

            See Review
            See Review

I stayed at the Allson Angkor Hotel for four nights over New Years 2010. Your budget will determine whether this is the right hotel for you. I consider the Allson Angkor to be very good value. It is closer to Siem Reap than many of the large hotels allowing you to walk to SR's main tourist area about 2 km from the hotel. You can rent a bike down the street which I recommend in part because it will help keep the myriad of motorcycle and tuk tuk guys off your back. The hotel building is fine and would be nicer if they put on the lobby lights. The rooms are nice and like so many hotels could be bigger. The rest room is larger than that of the Vienna Intercontinental. The buffet breakfast is quite satisfactory. The pool is a good size and the gym, though small, is better than some I've seen. Some of the staff speak English which is not always the case in Cambodian international hotels. The internet at $3 an hour is a bit of a joke as the norm at Cambodian internet cafes is 50 US cents an hour. You can find internet cafes about a ten minute walk from the hotel toward town.

We had a comfortable stay at the hotel. Staffs were courteous, friendly & willing help (example at buffet breakfast, the coffee in the pot was cold; a request for a hot cup of coffee was met immediately and gratuitously). The room that we occupied was clean & especially the bathrooms were clean. Breakfast at the hotel was substantial & there was variety. Quiet & relaxing. I would recommend this hotel to my family and friends.

Good breakfast, good service incl airport pick up, quiet, safe.
requires a 5 min ride to city center and restaurants.

Overall a good hotel, although you can probably get also nice hotel for less money. Room and bathrooms were clean and quiet. The Breakfast has a lot of choices both western and Asian. They organize a tuk-tuk to visit Angkor Wat. To go downtown, hire a motorcycle for 1 USD, or walk like 15 min.

I liked rooms and the hotel.
            Not so good location.

I was there in the end of November 2008, the hotel is far away from the center and we had to take tuk-tuk. The staff at the reception is great, but the restaurant staff is very slow so we had to wait a long time for cups and dishes at breakfast. There were a lot of dishes at breakfast but every day was the same (were had been stayed there for 5 nights). Transport from the airport to the hotel is free.

            Well worth a stay”

Staff members were very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, so was the bed. The room rate is fairly reasonable for such a facility. Traditional music played in the hall at the breakfast and evening was present. It is well located for a walk and restaurant areas.
I asked for a shower before my departure, which was in the evening, but the hotel refused. In another hotel it was possible in the shower room near the pool. This kind of service makes a lot of difference for the customers' impression of the hotel's hospitality. For a long stay, breakfast becomes rather repetitive. More variation would be appreciated.

While some minor points were weak, the overall services and staff friendliness were satisfactory, especially for the price charged for the room. Easy access to the heart of Siem Reap is also a good advantage.

It's a nightmare to stay in this hotel. I mean literally. There are loud noise at the middle night and last for 20 mins. It make me thought it must be on fire with this kind of noise! When I complaint to reception, the staff was impatient. With out inform me, the hotel charge me 10 USD for pick up on the airport with all of other hotels provide free pick up. It's robbery.
