this palace is lovely. the rooms are large, well laid out, and very comfortable. The staff was helpful and nice. it's in a good location in Jaipur, which is a NOT a walkable city. the area around the hotel is not that nice, but you are quick quickly in good central locations within minutes. small complaint that at the rate one pays for even a standard room, breakfast should be included, no question, this was disappointing. otherwise a great stay.
A quiet oasis in the hurly burly of Jaipur”
I found the hotel to be a real delight. The walls of both the common rooms and guest rooms are painted with murals. It sits in a quiet courtyard. Just outside is gate to the Pink City, and the madness that is Jaipur. The travel agent attached to the hotel can arrange travel for you at a very fair price.
Beautiful Stay in this ancient Haveli! ”
The haveli is beautiful, the rooms immediately gave a grandiose feeling as you enter, the location is a bit hard to find as there are narrow roads and the navigation shows the backside of the haveli. The locks needs to be change for bathrooms though.
Have stayed here a few times over the years and the hotel still has its charm and has had some maintenance done. Room I had was huge and clean. Staff are very friendly and more than willing to help with information etc. Will stay again next time in Jaipur. Thanks for a lovely stay.
Dear Madam, Thankyou for your comments. We look forward to see you again. Regards, Bissau Team
Lovely Heritage Hotel”
For the price we paid, the hotel offered great value. The room, Bishan Chamber, is relatively clean and definitely spacious, and was connected to a small courtyard area with a swing. The compound offers plenty of areas to relax and chill, be it by the poolside, the lounge, the front courtyard, or simple anywhere with a chair (trust me, there are plenty around). The hotel is a short walk from the City Walls and a local market. There're loads of food options if you'd like to venture out for a little adventure. Finally, the staff were all friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again if I come back to Jaipur!
my arrival at the bissau palace was exciting. late at night, the hotel sent its indian car, the “ambassador" to pick me up at the train station. despite my fatigue, i was dazzled when i was shown the colorful and ornate room that i would be staying in. and just outside the archway to the opulent lobby, a festive "campfire" was burning, surrounded by fun-loving guests and the owner. i was welcomed with indian rum, supper, and lively conversation which lasted almost until dawn. breakfast was served in one of the most beautiful dining rooms in india, with bright figurative paintings adorning the walls. each day, the hotel’s car and driver provided me with a tour of jaipur’s fantastic sights, at a reasonable cost. like all rajasthan hotel rooms, it was chilly at night (in january), so ask the front desk for a space heater. overall, i had a wonderful stay at this atmospheric hotel which provides a great welcome and excellent service to guests.
Good hotel in central area”
We arrived and had a good reception and were asked to sit whilst our details were taken. We were shown to our roomwithin 5 minutes which was more like a suite than a room. The room was large with good linen, large bathroom and had its own balcony. Good sized windows lead out onto the driveway with lots of trees. Monkeys were a problem but keep the front door cflosed of your room and all is ok. Staff atreception, dining room were very friendly and professional and room staff ,kept the room very clean.
Trade off convenience for quaintness: step back in time LITERALLY”
Though closish to Pink City, Bissau is in a dirty, crowded, smelly area. The rooms are quaint, unique, interesting. However, given that getting a SIM card in India is an impossible, standing joke, the poor, unreliable wifi at Bissau made life impossible. Again, despite the charm of the dining area, breakfast was rudimentary and the service haphazard. The room lacked conveniences, despite being unusual. No jug. No safe. No cups. No tea or coffee. Only warm water available from the cantankerous and harried kitchen staff. The Bissau is making a fortune from cooing, purring, admiring tour groups. Sure, take a step back in time, feel it alluring. Lose all modern convenience and facility. Don't go WALKING out of the hotel unless you want to be overwhelmed by danger, stench and crush. A cooey, quiet, disconnected, backward haven in the midst of chaos. Poor value for money. A disaster for us. Stay in east Jaipur instead.
Lovely hotel in good location”
Bissau palace was a lovely place to stay in Jaipur. The beautiful grounds are set back from the hectic roads outside so a good place to escape the chaos. Our room was fairly simple but clean with a good bathroom. It was like a small detached apartment, away from the main hotel lobby and restaurant
Nice and recommendable hotel, friendly staff”
Nice location, close to the Pink City center/Chandpole. We had a very spacious family room with 3 large beds, nice Maharaja style wall paintings, A/C, TV, ventilator, big bathroom with bath tub. Very quiet hotel and good to relax on the swimming pool or in the garden. Breakfast was always delicious and rich. Highly recommendable, we would come back here when in Jaipur next time.
The allotted room does not look like the pictures on the website”
It is unfortunate to get a room in the annex, without Wifi, full of mosquitoes... for the price! The toilet was leaking, there is a lack of proper maintenance in this old room. The room pictures on the website look awesome, but nothing like that in the annex... I had booked a room for a friend, and was disappointed for the service!
Nice small hotel, ideal for overnight stay while in Jaipur. Courteous staff with a family home feel
We initially booked the hotel for three nights but decided to stay one day longer. We stayed in "honeymoon suite" - lovely decorated room with bathroom surrounded by little garden just in front of the hotel. Buffet breakfast was excellent with choice of food including juices and fruits. Staff was helpful and if they could not answer immediately, willing to phone and find out more. The location is great as well - far away from busy street (meaning very quiet) yet within short walking distance from Pink City. Highly recommended.
Amazing historical stay, feel like an explorer of the early days”
Really nice stay at a reasonable price! The breakfast was good and the room was spacious! The main building felt almost like a museum! Pool was nice but very cold and al the lounge seats were all broken. But that is only if I start nitpicking!
Clean but very humid, the interior is very dark ”
if you want stay at old house in Jaipur. But location is so sucks. It is located near the market whenever I passed it I alway saw the butcher killed chickens. And I could smell blood :( and the interior is very old. That's the reason the room is too dark. And sometimes i was scared because of portrait on the wall. If you wan to use wifi you should go the lobby. Wifi is very weak and slow.
A Real Heritage Hotel”
Excellent overall, Nepali staff were really helpful and simple. The painter who sells hand painting as well as does wall paintings at hotel could narrate history well. One of the road from Chandpole gate to hotel via Masjid (Mosque) is butchers area. If soft hearted take other road farther from Chandpole gate from behind. Once inside its an old world charm and excellent stay.
Stunning hotel with great service”
We loved this hotel. The decor is amazing and the staff are friendly. It feels very safe and has someone on the gate at all times. The pool was not open during our stay, so I can't comment on that, but the food was fine and the accompanying music was entertaining. There is a travel agent on site, who can book taxis, tours etc if you need it and also a little shop for postcards etc. It is the most welcoming Hotel and even has a St Bernard dog! There is information in the Rooms about yoga and massage treatments, but we didn't try these out!
Service with a smile at wonderful old palace”
Pros: Complimentary Train Station pick up (for Agoda bookings only, so make sure they don't add it to your bill in error...) Beautiful old palace chock a block with frescoes, pictures, paintings, jewellery, books and more Restaurant (buffet breakfast included)/Bar (an alcohol license is expensive, so a beer or G&T is not always a given a any hotel) Very pleasant and helpful staff Overall a haven of peace Cons: Unfortunately the swimming pool was not always very clean, but following our feedback, I believe this will no longer be an issue.
great room for raj”
room overlooked pool with private balcony as it was the best in hotel good location just outside city wall quiet street with nice garden clean pool with blue water rooftop bar overlooking city food was edible & omelet very good hotel topped up my coffee supply which was appreciated overall jaipur is a city of many palaces & forts even if elephant rides to fort are not recommended
Palace experience. Hands on staff.”
This hotel enjoys palace grandeur without all the starch of 5 star. From our arrival we enjoyed communicative service from very pleasant staff, we were made very welcome by the friendly reception and were soon enjoying the gardens and pool. All very attractive after a dusty hot day sight seeing in the Pink City. The room was more than we anticipated in size with a beautiful veranda, all facilities inside room were very comfortable. The whole experience of Bissau Palace was relaxed and comfortable very welcome indeed.
