Enjoyed our stay”
We really enjoyed our 3 night stay here. The room was clean and beds comfy. It was within walking distance to all the sights in central Adelaide. Having the microwave, fridge, crockery, cutlery, kettle, toaster and iron was fantastic and made our stay so much more comfortable than in the average hotel room. Although an older style room the facilities more than compensated. A large supermarket and Chinatown are about 5 minutes walk away. The staff were helpful and friendly. Wifi was pricey and it suited me not to purchase it - it was great to have the choice than auto paying for it in a higher hotel rate. Hungry Jacks is just around the corner and McDonalds a bit further down the road. I would definitely consider this on my next visit to Adelaide. A very very pleasant stay.

Best value budget-ish hotel in Adelaide”
we've stayed in several of the cheaper hotels in Adelaide and this is by far the best! Very clean, excellent location, extremely helpful and freindly staff. Breakfree is great! We'll be staying here next time we're in Adelaide!
Great deal, very cheap.”
Had a lovely stay at Breakfree. The room was big enough for us to walk around without bumping into each other. It had what we needed, clean and comfy. It is very good for the price especially for budget travellers. It is very easy to find. We got a shuttle bus from the airport straight to the hotel and it took only 15 mins and 45 mins on the way back as it picked up at this hotel before the others. Good location for us as we like walking after dinner or lunch. 20 mins walk to Rundle Mall but it was good as we could see the city and sights. The staff are helpful. Tea, coffee, ironing boarding which came in handy. The only negative point might be the wall was thin as sometimes we could hear door slamming and people showering but not really a problem for us as at the end of the day after a long walk we would be far asleep.
I stayed in Adelaide for 5 days to watch a netball tournament at Priceline Stadium & this hotel was the perfect location. Away from the hustle & bustle of the city, Breakfree was walking distance to the stadium & close to the market, Chinatown & tram to Glenelg.
Thank you for your comments Angela. I am pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay and the location. Alison - Hotel Manager.
Awesome hotel, great service, good location!”
this hotel was the highlight of our stay in adelaide. as we arrived on christmas eve, and everytingw as closed for the next 4 ( we didn't know this ahead of time), we are very knowledgeable about the hotel :-) it was very comfortable and the kitchenette i great - there's a fridge and a toaster and eveyrthing you would need as far as plates, silverware, etc. is concerned - even a bottle opener and vegetable peeler. the bed was comfortable, the tv is large, and we really enjoyed our stay - we even extended it later! the hotel is a 3 min walk from central market )which was closed the entire time we were there, so we can't vouch for it either way) and many many many restaurants. the mall is about a 10-15 minute walk away. we didn't use any public transportation because it was really close enough for us to walk. we definitely recommend staying there, as long as you don't depend on the bus to get the airport
Great hotel, great service, great location!”
We loved BreakFree so much that we booked another few nights! The location is great - it's close to the market, a large supermarket, and a bunch of restaurants. It's a 6 min walk to the buses or trams that will take you anywhere, though we actually walked everywhere so we can't comment about the transportation system. The rooms are very clean and very comfortable, with a kitchenette that has anything you'd need from a fridge and a microwave to a toaster and water boiler - and all the utensils you'd need - even a peeler! I highly recommend this hotel - we loved it!
Very good for the cost.”
Very happy with the stay at BreakFree Directors Studio
Very clean and great value for money”
the room was very clean, the big size flat tv with cable channels, very quiet location but at the same time close to central market and huge number of restaurants. next time in adelaide - this is the hotel i will stay in.
I have bee to Adelaide over 20 times in the last 15 years and have stayed at this property on most of the visits. Why? its location on Gouger St .....which has so many restaurants and cafes and the Central Markets open on Tues Thurs Fri and Saturday. The staff are welcoming and attentive and the standard of housekeeping is A+
My regular Adelaide stay”
The staff are friendly and helpful,, Martha was awesome the other day on arrival. Good size rooms, very close to Gouger St restaurant area and the city. I recommend Breakfree.
Thank you for reviewing your stay with us here at Breakfree Directors Studios, we appreciate your continued support. Alison - Hotel Manager.
Close to City”
Had a few problems with our 1st check in room. The shower enclosure could not close. The whole bathroom would be wet during our shower. The staff on duty was kind enough to move us to another room. Location is good as it is at the fringe of the CBD area and Chinatown. A 10min walk to Chinatown & 15min walk to Central Market. Buses within the CBD was free. We took it to visit the northern part of the city eg. University of Adelaide and the Zoo & Botanical gardens. Also quite close to the airport ie. a 30min local bus ride.
Perfect place near Chinatown”
Bed was comfy, showers were clean, staff were friendly :) convenient location to walk to Adelaide central market and Rundle Mall.
Great little hotel near the market”
The hotel room was great with a small kitchenette and everything we needed. We enjoyed being within easy walking distance of the Adelaide Central Markets. The room was relatively cheap compared to the other options in the city so we weren't expecting much but were pleasantly surprised by the rooms. The area is very quiet but it's an easy walk to the market and to the tram stop at Victoria Square.
I stayed at the Breakfree and upgraded on first day to a Studio apartment with queen and single bed, this was very cheap. Only things I found lacking was free WiFi which is very common these days in any Hotel / Motel you go to. There are no facilities such as restaurant, the food shop next door is unreliable in timings so breakfast was at the Adelaide Markets approximately 10 minutes up the road.
This is a good budget hotel, however do not expect anything luxurious. I was allocated to a room in another building next to the main studio hotels and it could be a little noisy at night time, especially over the weekends with the sound of doors closing when you're trying to sleep. I had requested a toaster upon arrival, as my room wasn't equipped with one and asked the lady at reception if I could borrow one. She couldn't provide an answer so I went back the following morning and was told it would cost $10 to upgrade to a room which had one. A little dissapointed there. Location wise, it's close to China Town, the Adelaide Markets and a number of eateries. If you're just after a room to sleep in and to place you're belongings in, this is a great option. If you can spare some extra money, I'd look into other options. Customer service wasn't particularly great either.
Hi Matthew, Thank you for taking the time to share your positive and constructive feedback from your recent stay at Breakfree Directors Studios. Just to clarify that the accommodation booked was a hotel room, unfortunately these rooms are not set up to provide kitchen facilities such as a toaster. Perhaps for your next visit a Studio would be more suitable as these have a small kitchenette area which includes facilities such as a toaster, microwave and fridge. Alison - Hotel Manager.
Comfortable and good value”
We were pleased with the room quality given that it was in the cheaper range for Adelaide. The staff were nice and helpful and we were within walking distance of the Central Market. The hotel is in a very quiet part of the city, but it's still easy to walk or catch the tram to the city centre. We would stay here again.
Pleasantly surprised that the hotel is a short walk away from the Central Market, restaurants and most of all, less than 10 minutes walk to the Central Bus Terminal. I thought, the small building means small rooms but I ended up in a very spacious unit. I really like this place and there was an ironing board and flat iron too. It even has a sink and microwave.
Comfortable quiet room”
I was very happy with my stay at this hotel. I like walking so the location did not bother me. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and mine was quiet which I like for a good night's sleep. The staff were very helpful. I would stay here again next time I visit Adelaide.
Somewhere to rest your head ”
Basic room located on outskirts of Adelaide CBD - two blocks from 2 main bus stops. Lovely staff, quiet location - awesome shower pressure!
We enjoyed our one night stay as we were attending a performance at The Festival Theatre. After checking into a spacious and clean studio room we went for a walk to the Central Market. We only had a short drive into O'Connell St for dinner before the concert. Although there were several good restaurants that we could have walked to in Gouger St. We would definitely stay again.
