Was a little concerned after reading previous reviews but could not really fault the hotel. It needs a little bit of TLC but overall was great and the staff could not have been better.

Mixed bag”
It's not good management to put Grandmother (70+), Mum and daughter over the function room when there is a very loud party with music booked in until after midnight! We couldn't sleep. Also the breakfast was of poor quality, the breakfast room a free for all chaos and they ran out of all jams! At least the staff were friendly if not much help.

Perfect for our short stay”
Great location in the centre of Manchester, staff friendly and helpful when I needed to change rooms and when I mislaid my passport (many thanks), clean and comfortable, breakfast buffet good, didn't have dinner so can't comment. I had an internal room without a window but this wasn't a downside as it meant I got a great nights sleep with no outside noise!

In the middle of everything”
I love its location since it's located at the middle of the city, surrounded by everything you want. The hotel is old but classic. The stairs up to Second floors was superb. You can walk to the Tram in only 2 minutes. But, if you carry big luggage, note that there are stairs in front of the hotel that you have to help yourselves to carry them.

Very good”
Stayed for 3 nights. The place needs a bit of investment. It's a bit run down. Room was ok but some lights didn't work and the be was ancient. Not many plug points etc. The staff were really good but some of the other guests looked very dodgy. Nothing bad happened to me though. There was a bit of noise at night sometimes from slamming doors etc, but you get that at all hotels I supposed. It was ok considering the price that I paid.

Great location and great price considering how central this hotel is. The furniture is quite dated but was fine. Bed was comfy and staff were lovely. If you want to be central and your on a budget then this is a great option.

small infill room”
we got an infill room,ie. a room that was squeezed in ,in the lobby after the hotel was built, also they allow guests to smoke in some rooms, but the smell travels,a gap under the room door means you hear everybody near.they had,nt even put up the towel rail, after the rooms been refurbished.if you get a room with an a after the number look out.

Worst experience I have ever had! ”
Upon arriving I had checked-in to my room, settling in and getting ready to have a shower when a total stranger walked into my room. I was in my underwear luckily and had yet to take them off. This whole experience had left me in shock, embarrassed about what had happened and also fear that anyone could walk into the room. Putting this behind me I then went to go eat and had forgotten my wallet so tried to enter the room again and found I was unable to get in. I went downstairs to reception to tell them what happened, where I believe she initially tried to brush of what happened and then realised how it affected me. I also realised a lot of different people were staying in the hotel, some of which were very rude, noisy and a little aggressive looking, this further added to my discontent. I had to leave. I had to find alternative accommodation which cost me £285, as it was last minute and a weekend! Still haven’t had a reply from them. Very poor customer service!

Quiet room? HA! Free WiFi? HA! Considerate staff?”
It's located not far from Canal Street, which means it's close to the bars, but also means the drunks are going to be in the street yelling at each other til 4 am. When I arrived I was offered a 'quiet room' and accepted. I was on the top floor (5th) which meant I was away from the hotel's bar, but nonetheless the street noise was very loud. Double glazed windows would solve the problem, but the hotel doesn't have them. Especially annoying was the WiFi situation. Agoda says the hotel has free Wifi, but that's only in the lobby and it doesn't say that. Elsewhere they offer two twenty minute sessions a day. You can buy a voucher for the day for 7 quid, but I'd already paid $129 for a single room for one night and felt I should not have to pay more for something promised. I spoke to the desk staff who passed me on to the night manager, who informed me that it was a problem between Agoda and me, and there was nothing he could do. I asked for a comped voucher but was refused.

Indifferent reception staff”
The room was clean though small. It was one of the ones in the ‘roof’ and there were stairs only from the uppermost floor to which the lifts go. If it had been cold the fact that the window didn’t fully shut would have been a problem. I found the room quaint but others might not like it.

Not a hoyel for a romantic weekend”
Great location, but very dated. I don't think it's had a re-furb for about 20 years. There's always a queue in the reception to check-in. The room itself was decent, but one bed side lamp didn't work, no extraction fan in the bathroom, and limited plugs in the walls. It does get loud at night, but that's down to the location. Would recommend for a stag/hen weekend, but not for a couple getaway.

Lacking amenities”
Arrived 30 minutes before check in and had to wait. Had to join a long queue to check in as the female at check in was so slow. Then only one small lift out of two working! I was on the 3rd floor. My room had only one coffee sachet and one teabag. No bathroom mat but the finale was being limited to 20 minutes internet access per day! When I logged in I received a message to say I had already used my allowance. No I will never be returning or my friends.
