Good stay and a beautiful serene place”
The hotel is located in the quieter side of the road. As it's near monkey forest you'd see monkeys hanging around in the morning. Quite an experience for us. the hotel is clean, good size bedroom. we enjoyed the big tub as we can relax after a tiring day exploring the city. Oh I really enjoyed the crepes served during breakfast. nice one!
Not a hotel with children”
Monkeys are fun, but they can bite, so it is not a great place to stay with small kids as you always should look around. Rooms are really old, need to be renovated.. Pool is nice, all area around is beautiful. Massage was fantastic too!
Hi, all was fine, the hotel is very good, the breakfast & pools are very nice! Good staff, good location! And of course monkeys, monkeys, monkeys - they were everywhere! We have celebrated my birthday and ordered a romantic dinner which was amazing and very tasty! Thank you guys very much! I'm lucky! We have stayed for 3 nights and are fully satisfied! B rgds, Alex
Out in the jungle, with monkeys as spectators”
Absolutely loved my stay here. My room (402) was on the edge of the hotel area, with jungle and small river right below my balcony. Monkeys was come out of the Monkey forest in the morning and hang around in the river and laze around causing mischief for the unaware. You basically get a wildlife experience right outside your window. Internet was intermittent, and not the best (only negative i can say). Will definitely return Champlung Sari Hotel, but stay longer than my 2 nights.
Best hotel we’ve stayed at in south east asia”
Honestly don’t know where to start. This hotel is amazing!! The staff are the friendliest we’ve met, the room (228) was great and the bed....comfiest we’ve slept on. The hotel is right next to Monkey forest so a troop come to the hotel everyday which made this heaven for me. There’s a hop right at the end of the drive (mini market) and loads of good food and boutiques on Monkey forest road. We extended our stay and are returning next week before we leave Bali as the hotel is so good. Honestly couldn’t fault them at all ☺️
Love this place”
This really is one of the best hotels in Ubud. This is my second time staying at this hotel and I love it even more. The location is PERFECT, the rooms are spacious, the pools are pretty and the aesthetic is so earthy and classy. Staff are very helpful too. This will probably my go-to place now every time I'll be in town.
Good location ”
Hotel is conveniently located next to the Sacred Monkey Forest. Mini mart right at the front and shops and restos all within walking distance. Hotel had a weird smell, bed wasn’t too comfy and the shower wasn’t great. You get what you pay for so it’s fine for the price.
While the rooms are a bit dated (a common thing in Bali) they are very spacious and clean. A good breakfast selection to enjoy while watching the monkeys through the windows. Staff are excellent and a minor issue we had on arrival fixed straight away. (No fridge in the room). Just off Monkey Forest Rd so easy access to restaurants and shopping.
Hotel that makes you feel Ubud”
It was a wonderful stay. Also, I will always stay.
Rick and Mel from UK”
If you are in Ubud then this is a great place to stay .. it's an old colonial building with lots of character, next door to the Monkey Forest, nice rooms, 2 pools, professional staff, and everything you need nearby .. 24 hour 7/11, gift shops, taxis, and of course monkeys everywhere! Also restaurants, our favourite was Maha, just up the hill on the left, which is on the main road but has a lovely quiet area at the back with rabbits! Which made a change from monkeys! Also of note is the Merthayasa 'rooms', up the hill on the right, who helped us out with volcano trips, rentals etc, they have the best prices in town! It's an enjoyable 15 minute walk to the Palace in the centre, then there's the 'Babi Guling' pig at Ibu Oka 3 (5 minutes north of Palace), then you can continue north to some pleasant rice fields! But for amazing rice 'terraces' you have to go to Tegalalang, a short taxi ride away! Then, as you are passing, call into Petulu about 5 p.m. if you like herons?! We liked Champlung Sari a lot ... a great base to explore a fascinating town ..
OLD STYLE HOTEL”
i check in at 10.00 a.m. reception is unwelcome not even a smile.i was shocked to see at the reception all of the boys and a girl was there.not enen a smile on their face.i believed they all need trainning.how to welcome guest when check in and check out.but in restaurant for breakfast they all nice so friendly.i booked a deluxe room but inside still old style.shower drain blocked and the sink blocked also.air con not cold air so bad.wifi bad also.i will not recommend this hotel to anyone.pay a bit extra find a good hotel.so dissapointed at reception.no way i will stay at this hotel
Pool was amazing”
We had a short one night stay. Overall we enjoyed it, breakfast was okay, room was fairly clean. We loved the pool, it was clean & beautiful. Would come back. ps. You'll see monkey come and go around the hotel
Upon arrival I was told I had been upgraded to a Delux room. Amazing you'd think but I honestly couldn't see the difference between rooms. I had no hot water and my bath didn't work. Maintenance came to fix one and then the other would stop working. Bathrooms full of black mould and very dirty. I ordered spaghetti Bolognese in the restaurant and got a tomato spaghetti and when I asked where the meat was I was told I was wrong. I had a few other small issues throughout my stay and when I asked for a late check-out I was told no unless I speak to the manager. Staff could have been more helpful. Money's are a cute novelty for the first day but be careful with anything on your balcony or by the pool
Monkeys are all over the hotel. I didn’t even have to go to the Monkey Forest anymore as you’ll literally see them everywhere. The hotel has a very cozy, earthy feel to it. The staff are warm and friendly. I enjoyed the pool and the food in the restaurant was alright too. The location is perfect! 7-11 is right outside of the hotel. Lots of restaurants, spas and gift shops nearby. Will definitely recommend.
Amazing place to stay”
Pros - Fantastic breakfast, rooms are clean, fresh crispy linen amazing location. Staff very helpful and friendly. Lovely pool area, great for family's with kids. Will most certainly return. Cons - lots of monkey but they made for great entertainment and we enjoyed them. Lots of staff walking around protecting guests from the monkeys.
So much more than a place to stay”
Booked deliberately because the hotel is literally right next to the Monkey Forest. The monkeys delivered the goods and made our stay at Champlung Sari so much more than just a place to stay, they were naughty but adorable. We stayed in a twin room overlooking the river with its own lightly furnished balcony. I spent most of my time out there watching the monkeys. The room was large and the bed comfy. Nice bathroom, although a little tired, bathtub was a welcome feature and the shower had ballistic water pressure. The grounds are lovely and within them two pools which are refreshing but poolside is short on sun loungers. I really like this hotel and given the attractive price for our stay would come back again without hesitation.
The property here is just gorgeous has two pools and the grounds are incredible . The staff is very lovely and always have a smile on her face and willing to help you . Room and bed with very comfortable and the air conditioning worked well . The location is perfect you are set back often busy road in a quiet paradise . The Monkees will always keep you entertained they are so funny but be careful of your belongings because they will snatch it out of your hand . We just love it here we’ve been here over three weeks just kept extending our stay so comfortable and everything you need is just outside the front -
Advantage *conviennt shop in front *provide tour upon request *nearby monkey forest (attraction) *many shop along the road (closed about 10pm) *walking distance to ubud market Disadvantage *most shop along the road closed except for convenient shop *less pub and Massage center *light along the street at night is dark *less crowded place
Everything was great, staff were lovely, but room smelled really bad, sheets smelt really bad. Reported it to reception and they gave us another room with clean sheets. Another guest also complained of the same thing. Staff were very kind and friendly.
One of the highlights of my travels around the world.”
I have been traveling throughout counties around the world, and Champlung Sari Hotel has been one of my most memorable hotels. The rooms are nice and spacious, and the staff is very accommodating. The appearance inside has a jungle temple feel to it, making the hotel itself feel like one of the many sights Ubud has to offer. The staff puts a lot of effort into the gardening and appearance of the hotel. One thing that sets Champlung Sari apart from every other hotel in Ubud is the location. It is across the street from the Monkey Forest, which means it also has many furry guests. You can sit and relax by the infinity pool, while watching baby monkeys wrestle and play just feet in front of you. Monkeys are literally everywhere around the two pool decks. They generally mind their own business and are not aggressive. If you have food or beverages out, they may however try to sneak up and grab it. The hotel has staff working around the clock that will chase the monkeys away if you ask them to. If you are traveling to Ubud, you will definitely not regret your decision if you book your stay at Champlung Sari Hotel.
