It was calm, very peaceful and well cared for. Nestled in hills, the historic nature of the housing along the old Hume highway was really interesting.
I went for there with a purpose in mind so didn't have time for sight-seeing. I loved the way the houses were still well cared for and reminded me of melbourne when I was growing up.
We have visited Albury many times and always find something to do. We love visiting the Hume Weir and there are great parks for younger kids
Love the river and surrounding park but recommend taking shoes you can swim in and food and drink as the cafe is only open at lunch time.
Albury being on the Murray River on the border between New South Wales and Victoria, is a well located provincial town of great charm.
There are well kept parks and gardens. Sporting facilities are good and the town is an excellent base for exploring up and down the Murray river. There are wineries and cheese making places in the area. Motels are plentiful and not busy as the road now bypasses the town.
City that doesn't know what it wants to be. Terrible Art Gallery facade, block off streets. No stand out sight seeing or recreation.
Ignoring the usual sports which you can find most places.
It is a great stopover from Sydney to Melbourne and has easy access to lots of interesting surrounding locations.
