Best hotels & accommodations in Ambon

A decent hotel, compared to others in downtown Ambon. It's location is easily reachable by affordable public transportation, regarding there are quite rare taxis in Ambon city. If there is any, taxi price is quite expensive. If you try to find a decent hotel in a middle of Ambon city, but don't want to spend a lot of cash for transportation, well this hotel is one o...

A new hotel in Ambon. I arrived at 6.30 AM and the friendly reception offered me an early check-in plus breakfast for AU$10 (a bargain and highly appreciated after a very early flight from Makassar ... I wish more hotels offer this service). The room was clean, functional and comfortable. The best part was I could open the windows for fresh air. The restaurant was in ...

Decent. Friendly staff. They however may not have maps for the city. If you are first time to Ambon, I would suggest you to take a motorbike or taxi to the tourist office up on the hill -- they are very friendly and will you abundant materials on the entire Spice Islands. If you want to go to the beach for swimming, hotels in the city should not be your choice.

I booked this hotel on the very same day we were supposed to stay there. I booked 2 bedrooms and called the hotel to let them know that we'll be needing additional bed for the fifth person. But they told me that they only have one room left and they don't have my registration from Agoda yet. So I tried to call Agoda's customer support without success. Then I emailed Ag...

I booked 2 rooms. We arrived at the afternoon. The room is very small, but its clean and new, there are some spot in the bathroom but it's fine, the water heater is working well too. The first room is satisfying but the Aircon in the second room wasn't working well so we asked for another room, and the staff moved us to another room, which, unfortunately has the same ...

Ambonmanise is the way we usually name after the people & the island. Honestly, it's the truth. The hotel is just a perfect place to stay while visiting Ambon. It's located close to Mardika, also Pattimura Park, Lapangan Merdeka, and GPM Maranatha (Ambon central city). Damri bus stop has a final drop off in front of Lapangan Merdeka. From there, you can ride a becak ...

I come here for many years, the hotel is situated excellently and have really dedicated staff, especially the old man, pak Agus, will help you with all your questions and problems. The hotel is well maintainced and he cleaning service is also great. If you want to stay in Ambon, this is a good hotel!

I stayed now three times in this hotel and due of the very friendly employees and service I will always book this hotel in Ambon. Excellent value for money and a great meeting place. There is a well known fish restaurant at less than 100 meter from the hotel. It is not a luxury hotel, it needs to renovate the rooms, but it was a convenient stay again at Hotel Mutiara

This rather new hotel is located close to the city center of Kota Ambon. Staff is very friendly and ready to make your stay enjoyable. Restaurant on site serves quality food, ranging from local treats to Chinese and western dishes. I stayed in a standard room which had anything you might need. Bed is quite nex and allows one to sleep well after a hard day of exploring....

Small cozy hotel. A bit far from the center of Ambon. The rooms are quite clean, spacious. There is TV (especially nice, which shows well the Sony channel), air conditioning, hot water. Including a simple breakfast (bring at 7 40 AM). Right at the door of the hotel is a big road, with great traffic. Its hard ti go to the other side. The bridg to other side about 100 me...

Actually it has the potential to be one of the best hotel in Ambon. Spacious room, Lounge, Karaoke Bar, etc. But the furniture and ambeience just too outdated and not properly managed. Need better and professional staff, and need better menu on the restaurant. However it cost me only 350k somethin (about 31 USD/night) so yes I think I got my value of money.. especially...

All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. My economy room was windowless, which could be a problem for some but I loved it as it was very quiet. The facilities were modern and the showers had hot water all the time. Breakfast was a standard affair. It was close to many of the attractions and restaurants. It is a great hotel for the budget concious but does no...

Large room, we stayed in the 4th floor, with 2 weeks of difference between stays. We were mostly working in Ambon, and waiting first for our flight to Bandaneira and then to Makassar. The room service is really good, they had a huge menu and the food they bring to you is really good! The guys and girls working there are always smiling and willing to help you, even if t...

I had wonderful time. Snorkelled and freedived all days, went in Ambon city by free rented hotel bike, et fresh fish every evening. Very bad wi-Fi, but they have LAN in some rooms. When I went to the city and bought an USB-LAN adapter, they transferred me to the so-called "premium" room with cable for free as all others were busy.

We stayed here for two nights and really loved it. The staff is really nice although they don't speak English, so it was hard to communicate properly with them but google translate knows everything. Great hotel if you want a nice and comfortable room for a change, we had been islandhopping for some time so this was luxurious. If you need to stay in Ambon because of a f...

Traveler impressions of Ambon
Visit Natsepa Beach, Collin Beach, Desa Seri, Liang Beach, Pintu Kota. Try diving and beach activities but also you can do hiking in mountain.
The airport is FAR from the city center because of the shape of the island. Prepare yourself for a relatively expensive taxi ride.
There are many interesting and worthy day trips around Ambon Island, Liang beach, Hila with the restored 17th century Dutch fort Amsterdam, the Portuguese era thatched roof church i.
I was in Ambon 20 years ago. It is now a vibrant city with shopping malls, organised traffic, good roads, restaurants overlooking the water, services all available and pretty clean all round.
Ambon has a very beautiful beach around, you also must try the local food here. For example papeda, and their seafood.
The city is quite compact, with only a small flat area along the port, and then it extends up the hillsides surrounding the city.
Ambon should be a beautiful place, but unfortunately the concept of not throwing rubbish everywhere has escaped the locals! The bay is wonderful, but full of rubbish! As are all the local places to see as you travel around.
Take an Angkot to Pintu Kota. It's lovely there and you can relax on the beach. Although there are so many stones on the beach.
I believe any month will be good, but we were there in December. I was bringing my dad back to see where he was born.

More about Ambon
The Ambon City Center is where many of the historical buildings and cultural centers can be found, including the Commonwealth War Graves and Siwa Lima Museum, which has an impressive collection of artifacts and local art. There are also many hotels in the city center, most of which are convenient to the shops and restaurants of the town as well as the tourist sites.
The Harbor is a great access point for the waterfront resorts and beachside activities of the island, as well as water activities like snorkeling and diving. In late summer, this is also where one can watch the yacht race between an Australian city and Ambon, a great summertime activity near the water.
