Arugam Bay hotels & places to stay

Everything here is top quality for arugam bay. The staff are wonderful and nothing is a problem. Breakfast buffet is outstanding with different choices every day and eggs cooked in front of you. The swimming pool is crystal clear and gardens top notch. In my view this place has no faults. We have had 8 days and have another 15. I would highly recommend the blue wave

Excellent place ! The bungalows are very confortable. We've spend 4 nights in a Luxury one (with AC and hit water) : they are perfect and new. And the last night we were in a Normal one (no AC and cold shower) : they are perfectly fine, with good fans over the bed and frankly how needs hot water in Arugam Bay ?? The staff (a family) is charming, relaxed but efficient. The breakfast is OK (eggs, coffee and juice). They are very helpful if you want them to arrange something. And the garden is lovely, very relaxing with hammocks and a shower. Now the best parts : The hotel is literally 30 meters from the sea. It's location is ideal : next to Main point/Mamboo's (main surfing spot) and very close to all the cool spots/restaurants in Arugam Bay (The Hideaway, The Siam View, The Seahorse (pizza !!!), etc.) And last but not least a very cool homemade ping pong table. The best.

This hotel is the absolute best in Arugam bay. The rooms are big, clean and comfortable. The staff is perfect - kind, helpful, welcoming and knowledgable. They made our stay absolute perfect. The location could not have been any better.

Roccos has by far the best pool beach set up in Arugam Bay. The pictures are accurate. The breakfast was the best we had in Sri Lanka. Be sure to order the Sri Lankan breakfast the day before. Our favorite staff members were Haleem and Kovy! They were so kind and knowledgeable about the area's history.

We were two girls and stayed at Danish Villa for 3 days and 3 nights to enjoy the beach and learn how to surf. Not only is the villa perfectly maintained (beautiful garden!), decorated and located (very close to best restaurants and to the nicest part of the beach), but above all our hosts, Tahir, Sulfi and their team were fantastic with us! The manager, Tahir, was very sweet and took care of us as if we were his own daughters. The guide, Sulfi, was adorable and of great help to us in booking a transportation to go back to Colombo and arranging surfing lessons, because he knows everyone in the village. It did not take us long before we felt like home, and we were really sad when it was time to say goodbye... But we will definitely return!

Remote but only 10 min to arugam bay, so no problem, remote for us was what we like. The house and grounds are amazing as are the staff accommodation, we had 1 of the villas was great spacious clean and comfortable, food was clean and delicious and always more than we could eat, we had some friends come over for the evening and the staff (Manog) setup a caddle lit dinner for us that was pretty special. we could not recommend the beach house highly enough our biggest problem was we eventually had to leave ☹️. If I had to find a fault it would be the wifi, was a bit erratic but still worked ok, the network they use is dialog and I had a dialog sim in my phone and it was in and out also, so if you require wifi maybe try one of the other networks as a backup as sim data pack was cheap.

The location is great but it doesn't have a sea view as advertised and the room was very hot and humid.

Only planned to stay here for one night but in the end stayed for 4 nights. The hotel is right on the Mainroad only a few meters away from the beach. You can reach everything in arugam bay within a few minutes of walking. The rooms are big and all have a separate bathroom (with hot water). The rooms are well equipped with ac and fan and a big bed. From the top level you can see the beach. Very calm and relaxing place. Laundry is also available.

This accommodation is great. It was definitely the best and cleanest one during my 3 weeks in Sri Lanka. The rooms are spacious and have all AC. The breakfast is tasty and cheap. Drinking water is included all the time. But the best part is the owner. Faisal is so friendly and helpful. He brought me fresh fruits and ice cream when I arrived. He also organized great tours (lagoon, national park) at a really fair price. Highly recommended!

Comfortable mostly because of the A/C. Room and furnishings are old and spartan, though I didn't spend much time in it other than sleeping. I didn't go to Arugam Bay to surf this time, but if you're there for surfing you'd probably appreciate its proximity to the happening spots.

The bathroom was really dirty, the worst I ever see in Sri Lanka ! I book for one night but because of connection before it enrigistesr the wrong day! So I pay agoda two times and they make my pay in the hotel too!!! 3000 rupees more! And I not even stay 7 hours in this! Real Thieves ! Don't go!!!!! A real horrible place ! The friendliest most helpful owners. From taking us surfin to having a meal they are the best. Thank you Alan Sonna and Rismi. You guys are legends.

Our kids had a blast with the staff at Lazy Bay, helping Enam serve all the guests their fruit plates and breakfast. Both guests and our kids loved it. Enam and all the other staff there were super accommodating and nothing seemed to be a problem for them. We booked our holiday late for the high season so ideally, we would have liked something closer to the beach, but finding a place that accommodated 2 adults and 2 children were tough. Lazy bay offered us a family room and didn't disappoint. It's basic accommodation but all you really need for a surf trip. The surfing is super congested though, and dining options plenty but none are licenced. Some allow BYO.

The place is great. A few steps from the beach, deen will advise you on places to see around. We could take a surf lesson. And the time we spent with deen was (f ....) very good. Thanks my friend

the staff, owner and workers are the best. very nice location. 100m from the beach, and very close to everything you will need. Room is clean, bed is big, private shower and toilets inside the room. Food is fresh and tasty. In front of the hotel you have surf shop to rent your board very easy. I spent here all my 3 weeks in arugam bay, best value for money ever had. very good experience, will come back again

Rooms are spacious and clean and have hot water We had a bathroom problem and the staff had no solution to give so it's a little disappointing On the other hand the staff is very nice. Excellent location right near the main but without any noise

Coco Bay was Awesome. Superfriendly Staff. All of the people. Every interaction. It is as good as described. There was a flooding in the area and they started to take care of some lost doggies. Just good people, next to the Beach. We were here in off season, got a good deal. Best choice we made in Sri Lanka. We Extended our stay.

Great location for surfing, walking distance to Main break. Staff is really helpful and friendly. Nice restaurant out the front to chill. There is a small surfboard rental shop out the front where a young surfer dude Sudu can help you out with a cheap board or organize a surf lesson for you. This shop has the best boards and best service in Arugum bay.

This hotel doesn’t exist anymore! It’s new name is now ‘Arugam Bay Tourist hotel’ and has a new owner! So please delete this offer on your website!!

I can't understand the positive reviews. We paid two nights on Agoda and decided within 60 minutes that we would not stay. Have travelled every year for 20 years and never done this. So we spent the afternoon scouring hotels along the beach, stayed 1 night and then tried to check-out in the morning but there was nobody around, so we left anyway forfeiting our money for the second night. Our family room was big enough but it was dark and uninviting, the shower was dirty, the mosquito nets had holes in them, the AC didn't work at all and there was a leak in the roof (ground floor) that dripped on our heads while we tried to sleep. All these things were relatively minor problems to us, despite paying a ridiculous $70 AUD off season for this room (no breakfast). The two worse things to us were: (1) despite being in the middle of the beach the hotel is in a poor location because it is set well back and it's view is obscured by ugliness - there is nowhere to chill or hang out that is appealing; and (2) the management or staff didn't even greet us on arrival - we had travelled 6 hours and the lady owner saw us, said, "Agoda?" (we answered yes), handed some keys to an old lady who couldn't speak a word of English and led us to our room. Once we deposited our luggage, we came back out to find the lady (or anyone really) and eventually found her but she showed no interest in talking to us. When we asked if we could get a coffee or cold drink (at 2pm) she said no. We asked if we could sit in the rooftop lounge area upstairs and she replied "it's closed". (We later discovered it only opens at 6pm.) We went up there anyway, just to find somewhere to sit and all the chairs were turned upside down, lights off, etc. That's ok, but the lack of hospitality was alarming. We moved to Mambos up the end of the beach, which is the best spot in town and only cost us $38. We ran into a German couple there who had also just left SVH and forfeited their booking for similar reasons to us.

the deluxe room is deluxe in Arugam bay standards so don't expect much - but it is value for money compared to some other options if you're looking for an AC room...the food is good and the atmosphere is relaxing...

Lovely location right on the beach really quiet and not busy. This is the second time we have stayed here. Stayed in double delux room with AC - lovely big room, comfy bed. The shower was not working properly so we had coltish water the whole time - they tried to sort it but failed! Having used most other rooms showers they all hot. They said we could move but we choose not to as liked the room and was so hot could cope with the water! If you want clean towels or bed changed - ask and they are happy to do this. Breakfast is toast and eggs. Staff are lovely very limited English. Position is right on the beach and about 5 mins. Other things to checkout - Hideaway for lunch and evening cocktails and the yoga here is fantastic with a really beautiful studio and you can use the pool after yoga. Danny's Soul Kitchen was the best Sri Lankan curry we have had during our 4 trips to Sr Lanka - takes a while to come out as is all freshly home cooked but soooo worth the wait. Siam View - great bar for evening drinks with really good wine. Surfing try Main Point, Whisky Point 700-1000RP. Enjoy Arugam Bay.

we couldn't have asked for a more humbling stay. owner, haroon extends beyond the role of owner and shows you around beautiful arugam bay as you were a friend or family member. the clean and comfortable rooms are tucked away from the main street, yet still walking distance from the bay. make sure you stick around for breakfast too, as haroon will serve up the softest home made bread in sri lanka. an absolute pleasure!

It was great. Spent 8 nights. Perfect place for a surfer or beach person to stay while in Arugam Bay.

Not the best hotel but well located just 10m from the beach: average room, quite clean, basic comfort, a bit expensive compared to hotel standards but I guess this is arugam bay prices

Very nice - not beachfront but made up for by having an excellent, and beautiful, bar and restaurant. Spacious villas with fans and a very chilled Arugam Bay-esque vibe

We were very happy that we booked Bay Vista - we think it is the best value for money in Arugam Bay. The management were very evident and helpful and the staff very courteous and helpful. The atmosphere was charmingly relaxed with a very open plan lobby cum dining area. In general the hotel is basic but has a really relaxed and friendly feel with well priced food and drinks. The location is great if you dont mind walking to the surfing break. Some good restaurants close by and the hotel's roof terrace is great for taking photos and enjoying a quiet sundowner. Breakfast was acceptable but as it was the same every day, it became a bit boring after 4 days. We recommend this hotel for a great beach holiday in Arugam Bay.

Terrible weird vibe, no hot water in our room, the lights wouldn't stop strobing when we tried to switch them off, so had to unscrew the bulbs. Probably would've been quite comical had we not paid so much
