Lovely well kept area with friendly inhabitants fabulous beaches and a great base for touring. The shops cover most things that you might require for a stay in the area with a good bakery, butcher, general store (check out the Log Cabin store), and a good choice of eateries.
The penguin tour is a must join! The staffs are friendly and the penguin gets really near to us. The staff explained to us about the life of the penguins in a relaxing way.
We had seafood at Bicheno and the lobster is really fresh. Wished to watch the whale but too bad it's not the best season nor our lucky day. There is a nice bakery shop in the town also. A small and peaceful town.
The seaview and penguin there makes you worth to visit. And there is a restaurant called "sea life centre" have a great view and provide nice seafood.
Nice area with all you need for excellent and relaxed holidays. Close to world-famous Freycinet national park but also full of local attractions.
very nice house with beautiful sea view. well equipped and u can find everything u need! you can find penguins just at the beach near the house.
i absolutely will recommend you to stay at beach
Bicheno is the place to stop before going to Freycinet. Travellers must do the Bicheno Penguin Tour. We saw about 50 penguins during our visit.
Bicheno also has a shop seling fresh oysters near the jetty. Bicheno town has several restaurants and a supermarket. The place is very quiet in the evening.
all shops close at 6pm. Restaurant close at 9pm and must reserve to dine. November temperature waa nice but must travel with warm clothing.
This sleepy little bayside town is fast growing. There is a lot of building of homes. The bay which the town surrounds is truly beautiful.
The colour in those postacrds is not exaggerated - crystal blue/green.
People in Bicheno are very friendly. The penguins watching experience was remarkable and I found Bicheno a very lovely place for tourists.
It's pretty easy to see penguins in bicheno.
Bicheno is one of the most beautiful places on the East Coast to stay. The town is so clean & the people very friendly & helpful.
Loved the Fairy Penguin Tour. Also the blow hole,we were told to wait for the 7th wave to get the best picture. (So true)
Bicheno has the most amazing beaches comparable with many in the world, it is a small country town that offers a lot.
It has limited shops and restaurants but those open offer good value and service. For huge steak sandwiches followed by the biggest $3 ice cream ever don't pass Porky's cafe. Families or couples would suit the relaxed outdoor holiday here from fishing to rock pooling or lazing on white soft sand. Fantastic scenery to Diamond Island a must see in the bluest clearest water.
Bicheno is a nice small town with soul. The town of Bicheno was a real surprize with a friendly relaxed atmosphere.
There was enough to do for a relaxing long weekend and it is close enough to drive for the day to the Bay of Fires (north) and Freycinet with Wineglass Bay (South). At the bottom of the road cross over and you wil find Red Bill Beach with white sands, clear clean water and shallow until a long way out. Nice waves for body boarding, beautiful. Always walk the for shore walk, why walk the road when you can walk along the beach. Finally, consider staying longer, you can chase 'the perfect beach' or whatever, but there's some perfect times to be had in Bicheno.
Take a stroll on the beaches, try to check the tides as you can walk over to Diamond Island when there is low tide.
Very peaceful, sunset is beautiful. There is also a colony of little penguins that nest at the Diamond Island Resort during February - March, ask the owner as he gives you a tour and perhaps you will be able to see them (this is not guaranteed, but he is very knowledgeable and it is great to learn)
Bicheno is a very quiet town but you won't mind too much when everything closes early and everyone heads to bed.
.. You'll be so tired from sightseeing beautiful Freycinet, you won't mind!
Near to national park. quiet and relaxing. free penguin parade and close encounter with wild animal at night.
please bring torch light for night explore. bring warm clothing if travel in november.
We loved our stay in Bicheno. The people in town were very friendly and it's a lovely small town to visit.
We spent some time down at the blowhole and around the rocks as well as going on a Penguin tour in the evening (this tour is a must!). The town is also less than an hour from Freycinet National Park so it is an ideal location to stay overnight for those not wanting to stay at the limited (and pricey) accommodation options near Freycinet. Would definately recommend people visit Bicheno.
Nice small town. shop close at 6pm and must reserve to dine local. It is cold in november and very windy.
Fantastic beach and seafood.
