Visit Soekarno's Grave & Family House, Penataran Temples and Mt Kelud. Try the street food at night.
Small and peace town. we can visit and track the historical of the great leader of Indonesia Soekarno.
Don't forget to try Rambutan Binjei, the best Rambutan i ever ate.
It takes about 2,5 hours drive from Malang. Not much to see, small city. Usually people go to Blitar to visit Istana Gebang or Soekarno's graveyard.
Our family really enjoyed our time in Blitar. We were able to experience and learn more about east Javanese culture.
The people were very friendly in Blitar and we weren't hassled at all. We enjoyed early evening walks through town (its much cooler as the sun sets). The town square (Aloon-aloon) had some nice steamed corn for sale and our kids enjoyed playing on the electric scooters and bicycles which were for rent in Aloon-aloon. We also enjoyed riding the becak's around and visiting several of the Soekarno historic sites in Blitar. There are some specialties such as "nasi pecel" in the restaurants. We had some good Javanese food while we were in Blitar. We also enjoyed a half-day at the Tambakrejo beach one hour south of Blitar. I think it's easier to get a feel of Java in a smaller city like Blitar than in a town like Malang. Malang is very congested now but Blitar was more relaxed and easier to get around.
A city full of history. There is a museum and the tomb of Soekarno. The air was full of air there's struggle for independence.
