Rati Lanna Riverside Spa Resort (SHA Plus+)
Chiang Mai Riverside,Chiang Mai - View on map
"This is an absolute gem in Chiang Mai. Before I made the decision to stay in Ratilanna I've been to the most 5 star hotels in Chiang Mai to compare. Ratilanna is stunning, great architecture, decor, beautiful lobby, business centre, spa, gym, wonderful pool, restaurants, Buddha statue. It is relatively a small hotel (75 rooms) but big enough to have all the facilities, the spa is amazing, the gym is huge and includes complimentary dry and steam sauna. The pool overlooks the river. The business centre is very private, the restaurants serve fabulous food. The hotel looks even prettier at night time with all the lights and candles, so romantic. The deluxe room at Ratilnna is really deluxe, huge bathoom with beautiful spa and shower almost for 2, huge bedroom, desk, little kitchenette, and balcony with nice sofa to relax. Ratilanna offers free shuttle bus to Night Bazaar every night but if you want to go earlier tuk-tuk cost about 80 bhat and takes 5 minutes. A great oasis to come back to after a busy day in the city. I've stayed there in total for a month!"

Night Bazaar,Chiang Mai - View on map
"I have stayed at many hotels in Chiang Mai on business trips. This one was by far the best in the downtown area near the Night Bazaar. For me, location is very important in Chiang Mai. This is the best hotel in the location if you want luxury at a good value. The food here was very good also. This was our first time taking young children with us to Chiang Mai. The staff were very friendly and helpful with the children who were ages 1 and 3. We will definitely come back to the Centara. We love Chiang Mai."

"we live in dubai but we travel to chiang mai at least once a month as our children study in boarding school in chiang mai. we stay in many many highend places in chiang mai which were really nice and pricey. after we found "lotus pang suan kaew chiang mai" and stay here, it's just right about the location, safety, service and the hotel offer all guests free pick up from chiang mai airport too! we went back ther more than 7 times already since march 2011 and we booked the rooms with "agoda.com" only because so far this website is the best price and the best promotion (free room upgrade) compared to the others. i can pay 3 rooms per night as equal price as one night only @ the hotels i stay in chiang mai before. our family from uk also love this place, it's look gorgeous when you take pictures. "Definitely one of the very nice hotel and value for money 5 star hotel in Chiang Mai. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Though slightly far from city center, there's a very nice Taiwanese-like night market just in front of the hotel with lots of local finger food and bazaar stuff to shop for. Room is nicely decorated and comfortable. There's also Carrefour not far away with a few fast food restaurants and food court. "

Le Meridien Chiang Mai SHA Plus +
Night Bazaar,Chiang Mai - View on map
"It would have been perfect if their Breakfast was at the 5 star standard. Only two issues: 1. No instant coffee in the room nor coffee machine - only two brochures per day which we can order from coffee shop which opens 6 am. No brochures, have to pay 140 Baht for a cup of Latte. Either put instant coffee in the room or coffee machine as same as other 4 star hotels. Really inconvenient as I start a day with a cup of coffee at 5 am. No budget for machine, provide instant coffee. 2. Business in Chiang Mai is really slow. Not many tourist from western countries. I believe that Hotel needs to survive in this difficult time so, they have many low cost group tour from China and other countries. Breakfast buffet is really hopeless - not even a piece of smoke salmon or a shrimp (no seafood), no sushi or seaweed roll. 4 star hotel would be better than that. Sunday Lunch buffet was good as well as other a la carte dishes which are 5 star standard. "

Pingviman Hotel

"We had a blast. This was by far the best hotel we stayed at in Chiang Mai. Of course, there are quite a few and we haven't tested them all. But here we were really happy. Most importantly for my 12 months old daughter, the pool was heated, which meant endless swimming sessions despite slightly chilly winds. Rooms were huge, very clean and all with balcony overlooking the pool. Location was not perfect, but good enough to feel close to all the action. Staff were very friendly, helpful and trying their best to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Breakfast was good enough, although not too well catered for western tastes. overall, we had a wonderful time here, thanks to ALL the staff, including cleaning team and the lot. Thanks heaps."

Bodhi Serene Chiang Mai Hotel (SHA Extra Plus)
Old City,Chiang Mai - View on map
"I would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone I know that is planning on staying in Chiang Mai! The staff goes above and beyond excellent customer service. We especially appreciated Kao as our server every morning, afternoon, and evening he would greet us with the biggest smile. I had needed feminine products and could not find them anywhere, and Kao went out of his way to go to the store and get them for me. He didn't have to do that, but he did & any female knows that's going out of his way! Our rooms were always well kept, and is beyond spacious. The services they provide are done in excellence at all times. The grounds are serene, as the name describes the place. The only thing that I could say that needs improvement would be the water pressure in the large jacuzzi tub needs to be fixed. We couldn't use it because it would've taken hours to fill it up. Other than that I would stay here over and over again when I am in Chiang Mai on my next travels. Thank you so much to all of the staff at Bodhi Serene Hotel in Chiang Mai."

VC@SUANPAAK Hotel & Serviced Apartment
Chiang Mai Airport,Chiang Mai - View on map
"I love this hotel. Three of us stayed at this hotel the night before our trek in Chiang Mai. We chose this hotel because it was close to the airport and got good reviews. When we checked in, there was some miscommunication and one of our friends didn't book a room. Even though the hotel was quite full, the super friendly staff quickly found a room for him, and without charging something outrageous! When do you ever see that anymore? The resort was great. Had a very relaxing ambience, the way it was set up. A very country feel. The rooms were enormous, so big we didn't know what to do with ourselves. The breakfast could have been better but then this place would have been too perfect. I highly recommend this hotel and plan to stay here again next time I'm up in Chiang Mai. Totally wonderful!"

"Chedi Chiang Mai was a very positive experience for me. A friend of a friend recommended it and I became very well impressed. To start the staff exceeded my expectations from the moment I've stepped in the hotel. I let them know previously that I would be check in late and when I arrived they not only were waiting for me but also had upgraded my room to a more luxury version. Great present! Then, during my stay they did everything to help even with little things that can be time consuming such as booking transportation to Chiang Rai, cookery courses, etc, and were very keen to give recommendations regarding things to do in Chiang Mai. Additionally, the hotel is very well located, close to the night market and has a beautiful setting overlooking the river. It is very relaxing to have breakfast in their restaurant sitting under this beautiful tree while enjoying a view to the river. The pool is extremely refreshing specially after a very warm day visiting temples. If someday I return to Chiang Mai I would stay again in the Chedi."

Lanna Dusita Riverside Boutique Resort
Chiang Mai Riverside,Chiang Mai - View on map
"Although this hotel is a few miles from Chiang Mai it is in a lovely peaceful setting and very tranquil. It is ideal as an away from it all location. There is a free shuttle service into Chiang Mai by boat in the morning and by minibus at night. Our room overlooked the River Ping and was well thought out in its layout. You could lay on the bed or in the bath and enjoy the views of the garden and the river. The infinity pool was a nice touch. Staff were very helpful and friendly. We wanted to go to a restaurant in Chiang Mai at 9.00pm on the Sunday evening and we asked reception to get us a taxi. They told us that the taxi was not available that evening but the receptionist offered to take us to the restaurant in her own car which we happily accepted. Now that's what you call customer service! Free wi fi was available at any point within the hotel grounds. Would definately recommend this hotel and would definately go back again. "

More about Chiang Mai

Located in the north of Thailand, Chiang Mai is the country’s second largest and second oldest city. As such, it provides an excellent base from which to discover the culture of Thailand. Hundreds of temples are scattered throughout, and anywhere visitors go, they are sure to see pagodas peeking up over the tree line. Visible from all over the city, Doi Suthep Mountain features the most dignified temple of the area on the fringe of the city center.

Shopping is certainly an option here, especially for those looking for handicrafts, delicate carvings, silk, and original artwork. Other than the typical tourist finds of shopping and popular sites, guests can also really immerse themselves in the city by enrolling in cooking, language, yoga, or massage classes. Guided meditation retreats to mountain monasteries, trips to conservation projects such as the Elephant Nature Park, and homestays in remote hill-tribe villages are also very popular for visitors of Chiang Mai.

In the evenings, international restaurants and nightclubs can be found throughout the town. Riverside clubs, the hostess bars of Loy Kroh, and the ultra-chic lounges on Nimmanhemin Road all provide fantastic opportunities to celebrate the memorable experiences gained while in Chiang Mai.

Those traveling to Chiang Mai will be served by Chiang Mai International Airport.
