More about Chiba

Chiba is set a 40-minute train ride to the east of Tokyo and serves as the seat of the Chiba prefectural government. Travelers are able to utilize Narita International Airport in Tokyo and the well-connected train system as a means of reaching the city. Chiba offers a developed city that makes a great alternative to Tokyo as well as a base for exploring the Japanese capital and its surrounding areas.

Both business and leisure travelers have plenty to partake in when visiting Chiba. On the west side of the city is the Makuhari Techno Garden and its complex of shopping malls, office buildings, and restaurants. Also found in this area is the largest convention center in the Tokyo region – the Nippon Convention Center, locally known as Makuhari Messe. The Mistsui Outlet Shopping Mall, Chiba Marine Stadium, and Bay Town are other popular draws to this area. The area known as Oyumino offers a more natural escape. Sakura Park offers cherry blossoms and Izumiya Park is known for its fireflies. The Four Seasons Roads offers a selection of hiking and jogging trails, and a visit to Rokutsu Temple is a great way to get a feel for the local community.

Be sure to check out the interactive map of Chiba for information on hotel locations, attractions, and must-see destinations.
