Traveler impressions of Dalian
The new Pavillion Shopping mall has transformed Dalian. It has many good restaurants and the shopping is excellent.
Dalian is a city of "the mixture of the old and the modern". There are old buildings of old Russian taste, and historical monuments of Russo-Japanese War.
we enjoyed the under ground malls in this city.. this really surprised us.. never seen so many shops.
If you read most reviews of the 200+ sites around Dalian...i also dont get the urgency to see any of these.
Love love love this city!!!! Went there for the third time and loving it even more. It's a beautiful city with Russian and Japanese influences.
they have many shopping mall around .they sell many different kinds of producd, the price is very cheap and reasonable
the city itself is much larger then you would expect, the people are friendly, but not as friendly as the middle of china and the west of china where they do not see as many foreigners, they also are not very helpful to strangers, but it is not so bad you think the word stranger and enemy are the same, i was not there long enough to see the beaches or sites, but from what I could, it is a beautiful city!
Lovely costal city with relatively small population. Less traffic making the environment less polluted.
A lovely sea-side city with fairly good weather with less pollution then most major cities in China. Easy to find authentic Korean and Japanese restaurants.
Although I have seen too less about the city, in the morning it is crouwded with traffic but not as much as Guangzhou, Beijing or Shanghai.
The north people are relatively better in China. The environment and air is rather good. Sunny and sea side is bright.
I staid in Dalian city for 1 week, my apartment faced Xinghai square. This side of the city is very nice and quiet, good for walking, relax e have a good view of the sea and the green hills all around Xinghai.
it was nice place to visit. They call their city is by the most romantic city in China. They place its like North west area in USA
Dalian is a very beautiful city, well planned and organised. It's very livable compared to other cities in China.
Great place to stay for business and for relaxing. Great seafood, always fresh. Seafood business is great.
Dalian is beautiful city and clean, it different with other city in china, many building here were European(Russia)style.
Amazed by how well developed the city is, and what the government will do in the near future, with new developments of new economic zone, new airport on the sea, etc.

More about Dalian
Dalian’s history is unique. It was occupied by the British, later leased by the Russians and finally invaded by the Japanese – and all of this for a city that scarcely existed before the mid-19th century. There is plenty of European architecture form the early 1900s to admire, as well as the recently renovated Russian Street and a few remnants of the Japanese occupation. Many of the city’s tourists are Chinese, and they come explicitly for the resorts in Dalian beaches. The beaches with the most to offer are Fujiazhuang Beach, Bangchuidao Beach, and Gold Pebble Beach. Tourists also take an interest in the city’s military history, especially as it relates to Port Arthur. Otherwise, time away from the beaches is best spent in the city’s cosmopolitan core. Stylish clothing boutiques deal in Japanese and Korean fashions, and there is also a night market that can be browsed. Local restaurants serve everything from sushi to hot pots. After hours, the action shifts to nightclubs around the posh luxury hotels in Dalian’s city center.
