Within Dawei you find few sightseeing destinations. The most attractive part of Dawei is the beaches on the peninsula to the west of town.
MaugMagan beach is where the Burmese go to experience beach life. You'll find a long row of restaurants along the beach, they'll serve you good seafood, but it will overpriced. but on the other beaches you can not expect to find restaurants. Unfortunately the Burmese has a nasty habit of littering, Maugmagan beach is more an example of this than an exception. On the roads, parking lot, the beach and in the water you'll come upon plastic bags, bottles, sandals. Just go for the meal, go to the other beaches for bathing. San Maria Bay - 10 km south of Maugmagan - is access by a rather rough road you'll find a small monastery at it's own small island which is access by a small concrete bridge.
