Best hotels & accommodations in Donghae-si

I chose this hotel because this was the only place with 3 beds. At first I thought this was in Gangneung, but it happened to be in Donghae. My mistake. Actually the location wasn't too bad. I wanted to see the cave and it was only a few minutes of drive from the hotel. And the beach with the candle-shaped rock too. The hotel itself seemed pretty old but it was okay. Bu...

our room was large and clean, had a nice tv, water machine, and bed. it was near e-mart and other restaurants and shopping. the clerk was very nice and even called a cab for us when it was time to leave. no complaints about this place if you need to stay in donghae for a night!

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was located one road back from the beach and has a bridge that connects the parking lot to the beach. We drove here and liked the fact that there was an Emart and many Korean resteraunts only a 15 minute drive away. The food at the hotel was very expensive so we did not eat any meals at the hotel. The indoor jjimjilbang was nice...

It's on the main road but a bit far from restaurants and stores -- which we liked. Food delivery is easy and the manager will call/translate for you. And the view is stunning! Such a gorgeous ocean view of waves crashing in on the rocks. The room was spacious and comfortable and a perfect temperature. It's also right on the East Coast bike path.

Traveler impressions of Donghae-si
Donghae is a nice little sea-side city. A lot of seafood is available here and the beaches are not that far away from the town center.
There's not much to do here, but it's not an unpleasant place to stay the night if you want to take the ferry to Ulleng-do!

Donghae caters to the travelers who are seeking a relaxed getaway. The city offers up plenty of cultural and historical sites to visit, including the Yongsan Confucian School established in 1705 as well as the much younger Daoengaehyanggyo which came about in 1995. Throwbacks to the past include sites such as Haeamjeong Pavilion, Yakcheon village, and Dongbusataek. Those looking for complete leisure can head to the beaches of Mangsang and Chuam. Near Chuam Beach is a rock formation known as Candlestick Rock, a feature of Donghae that has been immortalized in the Korean national anthem. Treks into nature offer rewarding experiences, such as the mountain fortress of Dutasanseong and the waterfalls and temples of Mereung Valley. The valley also has several hiking trails of varying difficulty which lead to sites such as Samhwasa Temple and Gwaneum Falls.
