Traveler impressions of Fukuoka
The city is quite clean, We were lucky it only drizzle 1 day during our 7 days stay, the city has alot to offer , I enjoyed my stay here.
1 day pass is very useful, you can save transportation fare by using this ticket! recommend for sight seeing.
Very convenient transportation from Airport to city centre for just few stops by subway. City with great foods and many shopping places!
People are friendly. But they don't speak English very well. Ramen is very famous. Price of food is reasonable.
Only spent 1day at hakata for a little sightseeing and shopping, but the food is good there, you can find all kinds of Japaness food in local restaurants.
Great city with a wide range of restaurants if in town I recommend visiting Bar Leichhardt and the Soya Sauce bar to sample a wide variety of local and specialist Soya Sauce.
hakata is hub to connect to other city in kyushu stay near to hakata station is the good idea as it's surrounding with food, shopping.
Fukuoka is, in my opinion, very underrated. It's one of my favorite cities in all of Japan, and I would live there if I could.
honestly this place is not tourist friendly like Osaka or Kyoto for foreigners. There is lacking of signboards in English at tourist places
A good place to visit for those who has been to Tokyo and Osaka. The locals are very pleasant and friendlier than the bigger cities.
Fukuoka was great but I think I didn't explore it enough. Would come back again to visit! Food is definitely excellent though.
I love this city so much, it makes me feel so relax when I stay in this city. The people are good and very nice.
Better to stay in Hakata and make it the centre point to travel to other areas such as Yufuin, Beppu, Nagasaki, etc.
I was very impressed with Fukuoka. The Japanese food is excellent and slightly more affordable than Tokyo.
It is so easy to get around as the airport and the train station are conveniently located (save a lot on travelling time)
Fukuoka is a city itself. Shopping, nightlife, you name it, they have it. They people here are super helpful.
Nice place to explore around yourself. Good food and shoppings around Hakata Station. If permit, self drive to explore further like Beppu, Mt.
very nice place to go sightseeing and having lots of sushi, and there are many people who are nice of me.
It is a nice and clean city. You are welcomed all the times by people and they are always smiling ☺ They will say hundred times thank you so much in japanese LOL
nice food and environment , but most of the hotel or shopping area staff can;t speak english even a simple conversation
nice food, try the local famous food, e.g. fish roe and ramen. Go to the islands nearby, e.g. Shikanoshima
Charming city, it's helpful and more enjoyable if you are able to speak a fair amount of Japanese and understand some of the basic cultural structure to truly appreciate what Fukuoka and rest of Japan has to offer.
The nightlife including the red light street, visit the Fukuoka tower for night view and eating the 24 hours Ramen, otherwise which is none.
Fukuoka is a small city and everywhere is reachable on foot. Shop till you drop and with lots of restaurants to choose.
This city is the closest Japanese city to Korea and you can tell. There are signs everywhere posted in Korean and the atmosphere is very similar.
Fukuoka is a lovely city. There are everything you can enjoy if you travel as a family like I did. There are a lot of shopping areas, historic areas, beautiful and peaceful temples, good restaurants, and nightlifes.
We have been to Yanagawa and Dazaifu. Both areas have their own characteristics. We can experience the culture and the nature there.
Fukuoka city has her own beauty and unique style. The weather in September, when we were travelling, is nice & not too hot, so good for walk although public transportation system is convinient and foreigners friendly.
Fukuoka is really nice city to visit. It is the center for everything, shopping, dining, and relaxing.
Its very different fro Tokyo, people are far more friendly and helpful specially my friends and I speak zero Japanese.

More about Fukuoka
The city’s culture can be visited with a trip to such sites as Dazaifu Tenman-gu Shrine and Shofukuji Temple. The island of Nokonoshima is set in the middle of Hakata Bay and is excellent for hiking, swimming, and camping. Tenjin is the largest shopping district in the city, and visitors can find towering retail blocks, large department stores, and boutique areas such as Tenjin Core. Dining opportunities are abundant, and ramen is certainly one of the most popular dishes, especially from the mobile food stalls.
Fukuoka is host to two major festivals each year – Hakata Gion Yamakasa and Hakata Dontaku. The festival of Yamakasa held in June and is defined by teams of men hoisting floats through set courses while wearing traditional loincloths. Dontaku, celebrated in May, sees stages erected for traditional performances and parades. Both these annual holidays have been celebrated for centuries and are an excellent peek into the local culture.
