Rosedale Hotel & Suite
Haizhu District,Guangzhou - View on map
"i visit guangzhou almost once a month, and i always stay in this hotel. this is my 2nd review. location the location is not at the center of guangzhou (like tianhe, etc), and is in the haizhu district. but i still love the location since it is surrounded by lots of restaurants and shopping places, and is not in a touristy area. mcdonalds and kfc are right beside the hotel. and there are several chinese restaurants worth a try. skip the breakfast buffet and have dimsum and tea at the chinese restaurant beside the hotel (near 7-11). another must-try is the chinese hot-pot restaurant near mcdonalds. you will need to wait for a table though if you want to eat at peak hours. with the newly constructed metro station right below the hotel, it is now very easy to go around guangzhou. i always take the metro from the airport to the hotel, even if my flight arrives at 10pm. way cheaper and faster than taking a taxi. the airport express bus (#3 if i'm not mistaken) also drops off / picks up passengers near the hotel. rooms the rooms here are hit-and-miss. if you get the newly renovated rooms, you are in luck because they are really nice. the interiors are modern and very clean. can be compared to other more expensive 4-star hotels in guangzhou. do not be tempted though with their cheapest rooms that go on sale at agoda. i got a room for 300-350rmb only, but they gave me their oldest room - dingy and musty - with very old furnishings. tiles are broken and dirty, clogged shower heads, moldy bathtubs, dirty ceilings, old toilet seats, you name it. i just took this in stride since i know i got the room at a promo rate. good thing i stayed only one night, and that it only happened to me once. but next time i will definitely get the upgraded room. value this hotel for me still ranks as one of the best value-for-money hotels in guangzhou. that single incident will not dissuade me from staying in this hotel again."

Hampton by Hilton Guangzhou Tianhe Sports Center
Tianhe District -Teemall / East Railway Station,Guangzhou - View on map
"The room is very clean and spacious. The hotel is nicely decorated and very modern. The breakfast has a lot of variety but it is quite difficult to find a table as everyone is rushing for breakfast at the same time. The only real downside is the location of the hotel which is quite far from the station (about 20 mins walk), will recommend taking taxi instead. Overall, highly recommended"

"Everything was good except that there was no airport shuttle service. It would be great if the hotel provides mini-bus shuttle service per guests' request. "

W Guangzhou
Tianhe District-Zhujiang New Town,Guangzhou - View on map
"W Guangzhou is super well located as it's within the CBD and close to shops and restaurants. However, from a stay to another the quality of services is declining. Ordering a drink at the bar can be complicated as only a few staff speaks English beyond "hello" and order for more than 1 person come separately as if each person ordered on their side."

Dan Executive Apartment Guangzhou
Tianhe District-Zhujiang New Town,Guangzhou - View on map
"The hotel itself is very nice. However, the transportation is not so convenient. It is quite far away from the city center and the underground train station, and difficult to get a taxi during peak hours ( this may be the general trend in Guangzhou). A very good point is - the hotel staff or the security guide would help the resident to get a taxi on the road. This is a really warm service. The breakfast finished at early hour so I didn't try it. My daddy and mummy both said the breakfast was very great. The apartment is located in the new CBD. Thus, the environment around is quiet, nice and clean. There is a Zoo Cafe on the street next to the apartment, highly recommended. "

Guangdong Yingbin Hotel
Yuexiu District,Guangzhou - View on map
"Considering that most hotel rooms in nearby Hong Kong are high-cost tiny cubicles, the prices at Yingbin are stunningly low. It's a 5-star hotel in elegant facilities and accoutrements. Our room was huge -- about 325 sq ft. All the finishings were in marble, with updated bathrooms. Very comfortable and huge bed. Excellent location -- we were able to walk easily to Beijing Road, and the historical areas of Liwan -- not to mention falling out of the hotel into shoping, shopping, shopping and eating, eating, eating: both the specialities of Guangzhou. It also has the tremendous convenience in its compound (lovely, by the way) of an bus service hourly to Hong Kong-Kowloon and Hong Kong airport (saving the traveler the schlepp back to the train station and then further transport to HK airport). Compare the price of this formerly government hotel for high-level guests to international chains -- it's less than a quarter of their prices! For us, the place was excellent."

Pullman Guangzhou Baiyun Airport Hotel
Baiyun International Airport Area,Guangzhou - View on map
"I stayed at Pullman Hotel in Guangzhou when I was traveling from Urumqi to Zhanjiang, and this hotel was a perfect place to stay for me because I was supposed to be on the plane the next day.The hotel is beautiful and modern, I specially liked the bathroom in my room, it was with a glass wall and you could see it from outside, but of course there was a curtain. There was one thing that I didn't like very much: the hotel doesn't have any shops where you can by drinks and snacks, so in the evening I had to go to the airport to get all that. Another thing is that I wanted to use the swimming pool at the hotel and I was told that I had to pay for it which I thought was inappropriate because I already paid to stay at the 5 star hotel to enjoy all thinga that I cannot find in 3 or 4 star hotels. And here I was disappointed. But my overall experience was wonderful and I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others. "

More about Guangzhou

Guangzhou has been a major settlement for many centuries, but it’s the city’s modern successes that make it one of China’s must-see destinations. Major manufacturing and industry jobs have been migrating to Guangzhou for years, and it has become especially well-known for hosting the Canton Fair, which is the biggest international trade fair in China. The fair takes place every year in April and October, and hotels in Guangzhou become a lot harder to book as they’re only available to those with advance bookings.

The city is a favorite among those in the business and trade fields, but vacationers will also find plenty of things to see and do, many of which revolve around the city’s rich and ancient history. Places such as Shixiang Mansion and Guangzhou City Museumare great ways to explore some of the city’s rich history.

Guangzhou’s new urban center is Tianhe, which is also where some of the best accommodations can be found. For sightseeing adventures, tourists are better off heading to the East and West Yuexiu. Historic attractions including Portuguese churches, Buddhist temples, and ancient mosques can be found in the old city.

The city is served by Guangzhou – Baiyun Airport, which is less than 20 miles from the central business area and features a selection of business hotels and a metro line which connects to the rest of the city.

There’s much more to see and learn about Guangzhou, and the interactive map on this page is a great way to find out where the attractions and hotels can be found in this exciting city.
