"Elio Sun was especially helpful. He was amazing! He helped me with my bags, taxis, talked to me as a friend and took my photos. He's an outstanding employee and I appreciate him and his help. A truly good boy who was a wonderful future. Please send my thanks to him. He made my trip even more spectacular. Thank you Elio...you are an exemple everyone should follow. Good luck to you in your future, see you again soon! Guiyang is a comfortable city. I will return!"

Novotel Guiyang Downtown Hotel

"Not far from airport, taxi fare was about RMB30 (without jam). Spacious lobby but could do with some sofas while waiting to check-in (which was a nightmare). Staff was unable to locate my order as I did not book through Novotel website and that took awhile. Had to guide them myself. Also made a mistake with the room I booked (wanted a Double but was give a twin room). Finally after all the hassle, I arrived in my room. Nice design, heater and water pressure was good unlike many other so called 4* hotels in Guiyang. Gym was also well heated and was ample enough. Location of hotel was great. Many sightseeing within walking distance. However, checkout was again disastrous. It took awhile before staff located my details but surprisingly again they made a mistake (mistook my room for another room). In conclusion, hotel was great but staff needs serious retraining!"

Sofitel Guiyang Hunter

"Doorman 5/10 not always there to open the car door or help with luggage Front desk staff 9/10 goof service Housekeeping 10/10 after a few days of requesting the same things the housekeeper automatically added more bottles of water and coffee capsules. However they are abit overzealous in wanting to clean the room calling and knocking the door early in the day Club lounge 5/10 food is excellent but service leaves much to be desired. Also the staffs should be more careful gossiping. Stay here for a week In a junior suite. The hotel occupies the top 20 floors of a 57 story building. The driveway to the hotel entrance is extremely narrow and parked full of cars. Further there's a Tesla charging station located at this driveway. So it's always crowded and people hanging around. "

More about Guiyang

The capital city of China’s Guizhou province, Guiyang is a great place in which to start an exploration of China’s ancient history and diverse culture. The city is very accessible by air or train, and there are also several buses from many neighboring cities and some long distance cities, so getting there should be very easy. Once in the city, rest assured that the right accommodation is just around the corner from the train station or the airport, with even more choices available in the city center and near some of the city’s most popular attractions.

Like many cities in China, Guiyang has its fair share of public parks, each offering their own attractions ranging from monkeys roaming around Qianling Park to unique dining and entertainment outlets that can be found at the river-side Hebin Park. Between these, and even more of the smaller public gardens and parks, outdoor entertainment is very easy to come by while visiting Guiyang.

For a bit more culture and history, head to the famous Hongfu Temple, which is about an hour’s walk from Hebin Park and features a history dating back to the Qing Dynasty. Of course, don’t miss a chance to sample some of the local teas and even the specialty Maotai liquor at one of the many restaurants and shops in the city.

There’s much more to see and do in Guiyang, and the interactive map on this page is a great way to explore where the attractions and hotels can be found in this exciting city.
