More about Kediri

In East Java, Kediri can be found near the Brantas River. Reaching the city can be done by car or rail. Travelers can use Surabaya’s Juanda Airport before grabbing a taxi for a few hours’ journey over the road. Kediri Station seems trains coming through as well, providing a possibly more convenient route for incoming visitors.

Kediri offers a mix of historic sites and natural wonders. One of the most popular draws of the area is the Maria Grotto. Set in Pohsarang, Christians and Catholics travel here on pilgrimage to visit the Hindu-Javanese church complex. Many stop to pray at the Maria Grotto as well as visit the Stations of the Cross. Another site that sees a lot of visitors is the Monumen Simpang Lima Gumul. This massive gate resembles the Arc de Triumph and contains depictions of Javanese life. Selomangleng Cave, Tjow Hwie Kiong Temple, Dolo Waterfall, and Sendang Tirta Kamandanu are but a few more popular attractions with those who visit Kediri. Getting out and about to explore is possible with nearby towns such as Batu and Madiun. Batu is quite the tourist town, and the route there has some rewarding scenery.
