Traveler impressions of Khanom (Nakhon Si Thammarat)
Khanom area is beautiful.........lovely beaches and peace and quiet. Some great restaurants around. The town is worth a visit to see all the colourful fishing boats and the local culture.
Khanom may be not popular as much as Samui and Phuket but there are a few places and activities which a family with kids can enjoy together.
First is a sheep farm at Ton Tarn Resort and Spa where you can feed and play with sheep and have a fish spa. Second is riding ATV to the top of mountain or to see a sea turtle farm.
สิ่งที่ประทับใจในการมาเที่ยวขนอมคือ การได้ไปชมปลาโลมาสีชมพู ซึ่งสามารถพบได้แทบทุกทริป และใกล้เรือมาก ๆ
they make claim to the pink Dolphins but the Dolphins are nearer to Don Sak than Khanom, a boat trip to see the Dolphins will cost you 1000 THB/boat and will last about 2 hrs, TIP: buy some small fish to feed the Dolphins so you have a better chance to see them, we were not told about this and therefore didn't see much of them.
Khanom is perhaps my favourite beach destination in Thailand. A long, 8km stretch of golden sand, shallow warm seas, and precious little development, combine to offer a taste of what Thailand was like 20 years ago.
It overlooks Koh Samui, sharing the same seas, but the difference between the two places couldn't be greater. Come to Khanom before it's too late. In fact on second thoughts, don't - the fewer people who know about it, the better.
The town isn't so big yet having your own mode of transportation is a plus as there aren't so much public vehicles at the resorts/beaches.
