The Pacific Sutera (silk) is probably the best Resort hotel in Kota Kinabalu. What they dont tell you in the website is that you can also enjoy the pool areas of the MAGELLAN And their members only "marina" (great for the kids!). THe Marina is the only pool area that has the slides, so if you plan to stay here at the PAcific, walk around the boardwalk - its good excercise and make the huge complex a bit closer to each other.

the location of magellan sutera is very good,only 3mins drive to the city centre and easy to look for local food. the room is classic,clean and the swimming pool is also an attraction of the hotel. the most amazing part is the breakfast,there're so many choices of food and drinks (including italy coffee) for us. well,the service,environment,cleaniness,facilities,food and drinks are all above my expectation. it could be considered as the best 5-star hotel in kota kinabalu.

I was speaking at a conference in Kota Kinabalu, and stayed at the Hilton Kota Kinabalu while I was there. The hotel was great in all respects. The food was awesome, the room size was very good, the location was excellent and the reception staff were pleasant. I'd definitely stay at the Hilton Kota Kinabalu again.

Spent a week in the spa suite apartments for the family and we absolutely enjoyed ourselves. The location was ideal for those seeking to get away from the busy city, while still remain close to amenities. We rented a car at affordable rates from a local car rental company, and used a mobile app called WAZE to get around - driving around was easy since the app had the most accurate and up-to-date information. Having spent 7 days in the resort, we got around easily to the local restaurants for the best seafood - very cheap and fresh. Check out Gayang Restaurant and their cheap and fresh lobsters and crabs. Convenience shops like 7-11 were everywhere and there is a large supermarket called GIANT just 10 mins from the resort (google "Taman Indah Permai"). Our younger son (age 5) caught a cold and there's a very good and experienced paediatrician called Dr Jeffrey Soon about 30 mins drive away (Lot 66, Lrg Zirafah 10A , Taman Layang Layang , Luyang, 88300 Kota KInabalu), where we got him treated. Around the resort, there's a gorgeous golf course sandwiched between the mountain ridge and the beaches. And there's also a water theme park called "Lagoon Park", where we spent a day with water activities. Generally, while the resort may be about 45 mins drive from the city, there are enough facilities and things for my family to enjoy. The hotel staff were extremely prompt in their responsiveness to our requests (extra towels, utensils for cooking, etc). Very warm and friendly. The stringent security checkpoints also made us feel safe and secure throughout our stay. We had a good deal for this booking via Agoda. Paid for the price of a 4 star hotel but it really felt more like a 5 star. Highly recommended for couples looking for a private place as well as for families looking to get some peace and quiet.

It seems a little bit pricey for the average traveler but Kota Kinabalu is more expensive than Peninsular Malaysia in general and it costs far less than Meridien. But if you have a bit to spare, it's well worth it for the size of the room, the amenities and the location is fantastic. Lots of food options within in walking distance - if you need to get to a mall Centrepoint is just across the road, Imago is 5 minutes away by cab. Use GRAB cab wherever you go - it costs far less. The waterfront, boardwalk dining options & massage, market etc are all nearby. The Warisan area that it is located in seems a bit foregone but you can walk around it and it doesn't seem dangerous or dodgy. If you are heading out to the isladns, the jetty is also not far away. Best bet for Kota Kinabalu (even when I had to go for a conference in UMS I stayed in Klagan).

Having stayed in quite a few different hotels in Kota Kinabalu from 2 to 5 star we thought we would give Hyatt a try this time, Overall we were not disappointed although a few things needs updating like the TV which was quite old and not much to choose from program wise, As i have a business back home i needed access to the internet for checking my emails when i called reception to find out about getting free Wi-fi i was told it was charged my the min or £12 a day which i thought was a bit mean as most hotels in K,Kinabalu, give free wi-fi. We used the restaurant a few times the service was very good and the food well presented. We took our breakfast in our room which was delivered very quickly on a table beautifully presented with a flower vase and a excellent selection. The young man who brought us our breakfast was very friendly and efficient. As for the other staff working at the Hyatt i could not fault them they were wonderful nothing was to much trouble. its not a cheap hotel to stay at and you could probably find an equivalent hotel with free internet for around the same price but overall it was the staff that made it so pleasurable for us.

I am very satisfied with their service and facilities.. With the room rate agoda gave us, I was expecting nexus resort is just another ordinary beach front resort. Hey, Nexus did disppoint us. It is far more than just a beach front resort. They have a lot to offer. They have 5 restaurants in their resort, a spa equipped and designed to make you feel more relaxed and sort of a VIP. A shuttle service to move you around the resort. Their beach, made me decide to visit again kota kinabalu. Despite of having beautiful beaches here in the Philippines, it calls me to go back. Indeed rumors are true that kota kinabalu have very nice beach, not polluted, fine white sand, all these infront of nexus resort. Staff were very kind and helpful.

The hotel/resort is a very very beautiful place... very quiet and tranquil.. The only drawback was that the resort is quit far from the main city.. Food is good especially the one where we dine at "TEPI LAUT".. The room is spacious and I really appreciate the mini pool by the balcony.. Staffs are helpful and very attentive.. If it weren't for the distance between the main city and the hotel, this resort would be really really nice... But, I like the gestures made by the hotel to abate the distances issue, they provide shuttle bus going to and forth from the hotel to the main city...

I can’t describe how much i loved this place. We stayed in ocean view room which was best in my entire journey in Kota Kinabalu. The veiw from the balcony was astonishing. You can directly jump into the sea from the balcony. You can borrow snorkeling tools and kayak at the reception for free. Also hotel offered free boat service from Jesselton point to the hotel at fixed time. I would definitely come and stay here again!!! Hope this place doesn’t become so famous that i can easily book. :)

My husband and I visited this hotel during a short stay in Kota Kinabalu. We were pleasantly surprised by the position of the Hotel between two big shopping malls and on the seafront. The reception area is very grand and the door men always provided a 5 star service for this 3 star hotel by holding the door for you as you came in or left. We were lucky enough to be upgraded from a standard room to a suite and the room was a great size with a nice desk, comfortable chairs and two beds (one double and one single). Whilst other reviewers say that for great views, you need to be on a higher floor, we were on the 2nd floor and were still able to see the sea out of our window which we hadn’t expected because of the reviews. All the bedding was spotless and the bathroom and shower was huge. The corridors were very large and spacious too and it gave the feeling of being in a very grand hotel. Even though it is stated to be 3 star, it felt more like a 4 star. The breakfast choice was just okay. We didn’t fancy asian food for breakfast (which there was a lot of) so the options were beans, eggs and toast which was okay. My husband actually asked if they had any cereal and they did bring us both some cornflakes but you need to ask for it if you like cereal. There was also fruit too. We weren’t really impressed with Kota Kinabalu itself but its handy as a base to use before doing trips to the Islands or Mt Kinabalu and if you love shopping you will love it! Would thoroughly recommend the Gaya Centre Hotel as a good place to stay in KK!

Very good value for money. Clean, good facilities and fit out is modern and functional. Would recommend to anyone as either business or holiday hotel. Facilities are just as good as some of the more expensive 'Brand' hotels in Kota Kinabalu but at a significantly lower cost.

Hotel Grandis has upgrade my stay to an Executive Suite with two floors and lovely ocean view, thanks! The hotel is pretty modern comparing with other hotels in Kota Kinabalu. Nice location with a large mall just next door with plenty of food options, also within walking distance to the waterfront and town centre.

Really nice luxury hotel in walking distance to near the waterfront and nightlife. Level 14 has a nearly opened rooftop sky bar which would be probably the best location in Kota Kinabalu. There is also a special private club lounge on level 14 which is worth the daily upgrade if you take advantage of the amazing breakfast, lunch and dinner buffers and drinks. The hotel feels brand new and there was lots to see and explore within the complex. The pool on Level 2 is great relief to avoid the day time heat. The daily night market and other markets are very close by which are worth visiting to see more of the real Kota Kinabalu culture. We highly recommend this hotel for couples, groups and for business conferences. We attended a Wedding dinner on Level 3 and the service and atmosphere were excellent.

I've been staying at the Dreamtel Kota Kinabalu for the past 1 and 1/2years. It's my go to hotel in Kota Kinabalu and I return every month. Staff performance is excellent, they polite and friendly. They have recently upgraded their WIFI so it's much better now. Breakfast has a good range of breads, asian rice or noodles, egg station, fruits and juices. Hotel cleanliness is also good the rooms are comfortable.

It is located in Gaya street, so that should not be a problem to travel around the city center on foot. Do take note that you will need the local parking coupon if you wish to park your car in front of the hotel. Despite the small space of toilet and shower room, the room is actually quite spacious and comfy. Overall, this is a satisfied stay in a new international standard hotel in Kota Kinabalu.

Our first time here. The resort is clean and spacious and I never expect to see such a nice and clean beach around Kota Kinabalu town area. We never prepared food and there is no restaurant nearby so we drove out to buy dinner and egg and bread for next day breakfast as there is kitchen fully equipped with kitchenware. There are security patroling at night. It is a safe and cosy place to stay. We will plan a trip there again.

We loved and enjoyed our stay in The Klagan @ Riverson Hotel. The room was spacious and everything were super clean! The kitchenette were complete with everything you may need. The location is the best asset of the hotel. It's a very quiet and safe place yet just steps away from restaurants and cafes and the biggest shopping centre Imago. I want to stay there again next time I'm in Kota Kinabalu. I strongly recommend The Klagan @ Riverson Hotel to anyone looking for a wholesome place to stay.

This must be one of the best hotels in Kota Kinabalu! It is very near Suria Mall. The rooms are very clean and very spacious. Good for travelling families! It is a completely smoke free hotel. I love their water bottles! They are made of glass. They do away with wasteful and environmentally hazardous plastic bottles. I will definitely come back here when I next visit Kota Kinabalu. Cititel Express Kota Kinabalu Hotel is in the middle of town, easy access to almost every where. The hotel room is clean, although the room size is a bit small, but it has all the basis facilities. There are many food stores around the hotel, recommended for traveler who looking for budget and clean hotel in Kota Kinabalu.

For first time visitor, the hotel entrance is not placed facing the main road. But the location is very close to Pasar Kraftangan, Pasar Filipina and Pasar Malam Sinsuran. I checked in 2 hours earlier but was grateful because the hotel did not request for additional charge. No cafe in the hotel. The interior design in the room is very nice and pleasant. From this hotel, it is easy to get into many attractive places in Kota Kinabalu.

first time for me to stay in KK Times Square Hotel and already i love the place!will definitely stay there again during future travels with my son.it is conveniently located with restos, bars and a 24-hr convenience store all within walking distance from the hotel.the place is safe even for a solo lady traveler like me that i had no fear of going out of my room and have a late dinner at a nearby restaurant.highly recommended to those who wants value for their money. KK Times Square Hotel is, for me, the "IN" place in Kota Kinabalu!

Best location - above best shopping mall IMAGO in kota kinabalu, great sunset view from hotel balcony, luxurious interior desgin and furnitures, clean environment, help of friendly and responsibile staff during check in and out. Highly recommended for others who plans to visit kota kinabalu for any purpose!

this hotel is much better than another hotel i stayed with almost the same price. the hotel is conveniently located near some shopping malls ,travel agencies, convenient stores and some overnight food stores are right round the corner. this is a location even better than those at 'city centre' around the night market because the area of best western is cleaner and with a very mordern shopping mall, suria sabah, with a cinema (3d movies available), and the travel agencies are very important to inexperienced travellers. the night market and alike are in fact within 15 min walk when you want to take a look. the staff are nice and helpful. the breakfast served is better than i expect for such a price. the wi-fi in the room does not always work, but the convenience of staying inside the room is something not every hotel in kota kinabalu can offer. the city view from the window is refreshing as well.

This hotel is one of the best location you can stay in Kota Kinabalu town. It is located in the heart of the town and at the most happening Gaya street with walking distance to famous food, tourist spot and all the amenities around it. The best part is the most happening Sunday market is right in front of the hotel entrance and around it making it so convenient. Love it and will stay here again next time. The staffs is very friendly and greet you by your name and will ask you is everything alright and what else they can assist. Thumbs up for this simple and yet conducive hotel.

Stayed in Mercure Hotel during my recent trip to Kota Kinabalu and had a great experience. The hotel is new and my assigned room has a fantastic view of Mt Kinabalu. I loved waking up on the morning and be greeted by the beautiful sight of the mountains amongst the fogs. The hotel staff is very helpful. I approached the front desk staff to assist in the rental of a car for use for the next day at almost midnight one of the night. The staff was extremely commendable as he searched several agencies and arranged for a car for me at a good rates. My stay in Kota Kinabalu was indeed greatly complimented by the great services of the hotel. I would definitely be staying in Mercure again should I return to Kota Kinabalu.

We as a family went to Kota Kinabalu. The hotel is not bad. It has a big room. So, enough for me and my family. The hotel staffs are very friendly and helpful. We are not really familiar with this area and the staffs showed us the direction. Food surrounding this area is not bad. There are quite a number of local food stalls. I would recommend this hotel to my friends and relatives. It is perfectly good for a family trip and all fun experiences in Kota Kinabalu.

My family and I have been staying at this hotel almost everytime when we're in Kota Kinabalu. Apart from it being less than a minute away from eateries and mini markets, the hotel is well maintained. We've always had clean rooms, bathrooms, towels and comfortable beds.

courtyard hotel has a very location which is located at 1borneo shopping mall in kota kinabalu. the environment for this hotel is very clean and very confortable. the staffs use to serve with smiles. 1borneo is the largest shopping mall in kota kinabalu with nearly everything you can find. i believe this is the best place to stay in kota kinabalu. try it out for yourself.

just another hotel in the ever growing hotels in kota kinabalu, nothing to shout about. there is nothing much to walk around the area as the shoplots are not fully occupied. good location as the city centre has limited parking space if your driving.
