Traveler impressions of Kunming

More about Kunming

Once the gateway to the Silk Road and now the capital of the Yunnan Province, Kunming is a major tourist destination in southwest China. Its popularity comes not just from its history or attractions, but also from its accommodating climate that has given Kunming the nickname of ‘the City of Eternal Spring’. Being the provincial center for politics, the economy, and culture, this metropolitan wonder has plenty to delight travelers of all kinds and is served by Kunming Changshui International Airport.

Kunming offers access to stunning architecture, beautiful landscapes, and urban delights. The city center provides not only a convenient location to stay, but also a list of attractions. Eye-catching archways and dazzling architecture can be explored at Jinma Biji Square and Dongfeng Square, and the five intersecting roads make for quite a sight. There are several museums throughout the city, including the Yunnan Provincial Museum, and temples both past and present can be explored to your heart’s content. Shopping can be an exciting experience with popular pedestrian walking streets like Kunming Flower and Bird Market. The natural escape that can be found within the city and province is astounding thanks to the Three Forest of Yunnan – Earth Forest, Stone Forest, and Colorful Sand Forest.
