"Best hotel ive stayed in Japan in this trip. Location was excellent, bus stops right near the hotel that go to main attractions in Kyoto. Take a bus pass instead of the combined subway pass. We took the combined pass but found that buses were the way to go in Kyoto. Hotel room was of a decent size for Japan, amenities in the room were great, soap and shampoo were of good quality, and we were also provided with pyjamas! Breakfast was free and there were many pastries available, although it got boring after 3 days. There was also juice, coffee/tea and sometimes fruit. Highly recommend this hotel. Will stay here again if I return to Kyoto."

"We stayed at the Sakura Terrace Hotel in Kyoto during the busy last week of November 2013. We paid US$160 per night, without breakfast, but it should be about half that during off-peak periods. The hotel opened in October 2013. It is conveniently located one subway stop south of Kyoto station, with the Kujo station exit right in front of the hotel entrance. Alternatively, it is a six minute walk from the east exit of Kyoto station. The room is 18 sq metres, and has a decently sized attached bathroom/toilet. Comfortable bed and strong flow of hot water in the bathroom. Free wifi, fridge and hot water boiler in the room. Our room was just next to the lift, but there was no noise. Split unit aircon for cooling or heating, but, unfortunately, very limited English language TV. Free washing machine and dryer located on the 4th Floor. Bar and breakfast room on the ground floor. Pleasant English speaking staff at reception. Only smoking room was available at time of booking, but the reception staff managed to switch it to a non-smoking room. Overall, I would rate the hotel as a 4-star, even though it does not have any restaurant or room service within the hotel. (Visitors have lots of food options at the restaurants nearby the hotel or at Kyoto station.) We will definitely stay there again when we are next in Kyoto. "

"Wonderful onsen for the price! I arrived early and left my bags with them which were waiting for me in my room when I came back to check in after sightseeing. although it's in a beautiful area and located across the street from a train station I gave it a satisfactory on the location since the train line that runs to it isn't from Kyoto station. There is another station with a train running from Kyoto station but it's a long walk with heavy luggage so I recommend a taxi from that station or one directly from Kyoto station which is what I did but be warned it's a hefty taxi fare. Other than that the food and baths were wonderful! They have 5 private baths on a first come first serve basis (so be prepared to wait a bit if you want those unless you go earlier in the evening). There is also a free hot and cold drink bar along with ice cream in the evening and probiotic drinks in the morning, as well as a massage parlor for an additional fee of course but the massage was excellent! There are 7-11 and Lawson close by. The place is close to Kyoto tower and Isetan and Kyoto station. Totally is ok for spending money here."

"This is the only capsule hotel in Kyoto that has a mixed floor, meaning a floor for both guy & girl which is convenient for a couple like us travelling as we don't want to be on different floor for the night. The room is just a bed with all the remote & key being the Ipod that was passed to you during check in. The troublesome thing is to make sure the ipod is fully charged at all time if not, it will affect on how you can control the light, air & stuffs. There is a place for everyone to mingle & eat. Cups & plates are also provided but do remember to do your own washing once you are done."

"Excellent ryokan! Very close to Sanzen-in Temple, one of the best temples and gardens I've experienced. Great, friendly staff who picked us up at the Ohara bus station. Great location for people who want to avoid crowds of tourists and quiet nights with an onsen that looks out towards the mountains. Natural hot spring tub with maple leaves hanging overhead and mountains in the background. Excellent place for meditating and relaxing. We went sightseeing in Kyoto on day one, and the walk back at night from the bus station to the ryokan was peaceful with lots of stars in the sky. Kyoto Station is one hour from Ohara bus station. Very grateful I chose this ryokan!"
