Best hotels & accommodations in La Union

"It's worth the long trip". That's the first sentence we uttered upon reaching the summit of Thunderbird Resort at Poro Poro Point in La Union. Though, it took us six hours on the road, the travel was smooth and the road was amazingly beautiful. Added to that was the pleasant scenery along the way. The hotel staff is accommodating and polite. The room is cozy. The be...

Location was great althought it wasn't found in google maps and gps of our car. The rooms were clean and really comfortable. I think all rooms come with balconies. The place looked luxurious. Their rates are expensive during high and peak seasons. Pool is small as compared to how it looks on pictures. No night life, you still have to travel to san juan. i loved the pla...

We enjoyed our stay in Kahuna Beach, infinity pool is clean and the view is awesome, our room is clean and okay to relax but they didn't give us our complimentary water also, their are staffs there that doing there job well, like some are using phones, whenever customer calls the waiters they are not very helpful and friendly, and the food is a bit expensive and not wo...

Not your Kahuna (am I supposed to mention other hotel names? anyway...) in terms of prestige and facilities but it was worth my money. as rookies in La Union, my friends and I went there without having a clue to do. we only had a hotel booking and that's it. we went early and just made a shot for the moon if we can check-in early because we have been in La Union sinc...

Being one of the few remaining hotels in la union during soul surf 2014, we decided to choose awesome hotel among the others just for the fun of the hotel's name. We were happy that it did live up to its name during our stay. It needs to have more water sports for guests though. La union is known as a surf spot so maybe arranging a free shuttle to surfers would be nice...

Mr Ding and his staff are always available to help you. We were headed out for the day and the staff were able to make our dinner booking for us so that when we arrived, our table was waiting. It's an easy walk on the beach to the main beach area where there is surfing, skimboarding and beachside restaurants. We don't stay anywhere else in La Union.

The rooms in this hotel aren't huge or lavish, but they are clean with new furnishings and everything you'd expect. The food quality was good (though service too a while - the staff are friendly but not that fast). The pool was great, and it has direct access to a semi private beach. The location's a bit out of the way and a bit odd, it's built right next to an airport...

hotel choices are limited in the san fernando city, la union area. this seemed to be the nicest without going to a very expensive resort hotel. right on the highway so a bus from manila can drop you right at the hotel. restaurant food was good, the complimentary breakfast was either a sit down filipino, continental or american style breakfast. stayed in a small room...

I would like to start off that the Isla Bonita should not be compared or rated as a regular hotel. The Isla Bonita is a very comfortable, relaxed family friendly atmosphere with a great staff which really cares. Many of these resorts will charge extra fees or give grief over people who bring in food from the outside but in this case the resort actually encourages i...

Extra chairs in the rooms will be nice. Pricey breakfast. Kinda far from the surfing area but location is perfect for those who don't want crowded and noisy areas. Very accessible if you want to visit other places in La Union, whether via private transpo or commute.

I already read the reviews and wasn't expecting too much for the place. This was my 6/7th place on my trip and I just want a place close to the bus station (which was literally right next door so you can hear buses all night) First thing I needed to check according to the reviews where the bed bugs. Boy, the way that that room heats up during the day. Don't worry abou...

We booked last Oct 5-6, 2018 for our La Union Trip and P and M final option is our chosen resort to stay. All the amenities in the room description are satisfied. The room is clean and has a lot of space for 2 people. You also get free coffee and electric kettle to use for boiling water and free 2 bottled water. We are very shocked on what the room is because we did...

First time to stay at a bed and breakfast. Room was very spacious. And staff/owner is friendly. Concerns: 1. Difficulty in locating the place since sign is not really visible along the highway unless you will be aware of where you are (google map helps a lot) 2. There is an additional P100 per person for an early check in 3. Towel provided only good for 1 person 4. ...

Sir Ariel was an excellent host. He was very busy as it was the peak season, but he called me when I said I arrived in La Union earlier than expected. He allowed us to check in early too (there was a previous guest, but they cleaned the unit as soon as they checked out so we managed to check in at 1). Place was a 5 min walk to the beach Near flotsam and jetsam. There w...

Stay here for 3 days with my wife and kids. Wonderful experience, staff were nice and very accomodating special mention to Rio even the owner himself is friendly and helpful. The beach front was clean and well maintained. Food was just average and the pool is quite small. But over all we enjoyed our stay. Perfect for big groups and families.

Traveler impressions of La Union
Even though it is a long drive to the city, its worth it with the outdoor experience: surfing and beach swimming; thus providing a good relaxation time.
San Fernando City is a progressive city and is a nice place where you can buy everything you need. San Juan is where the surfing capital is.
San Juan is a nice place to spend weekend on the beach or surf. It is quiet. Water is shallow and warm.
La Union is a rich place for agriculture, nature and history. It is not highly urbanised and still underdeveloped, but, has many areas of interests for tourists, foreign and local alike.
you need to know the place like san juan is for surfing, diving, waves are high and strong not suitable for family or children swimming while san fernando is suitable for family swimming, get together, but not so many good hotels most are publics, many gardens and sites tovisit other than sun and beach, people are friendly
Depending if you wanna live the surfer lifestyle you could stay longer than 2 nights, me, my wife and daughter really enjoyed our 1 night stay with all morning and afternoon surfing.
La Union is indeed the surfing capital of the Philippines. The Ilocano food is superb too! Going there is easier now because of the NLEX-SCTEX-TPLEX links.
not much attractive place in here, but only have explor somewhere especially philliphines, its good here.
This is primarily a surf town. There are surf competitions here so many instructors if you need some lessons.
La union has beaches with strong waves which makes it ideal for surfers. They also have good restaurants to try local food.
traffic is horrid, there is no easy way to through San Fernando. Travel time is increased at least 1 - 1- 1/2 hrs because of this.
It's 6 hours away from Manila and 3 hours away from Vigan, Ilocos Sur...quiet far, but definitely worth to visit.
lots of delicacies to buy such as dried fish, tupig, fruits also. you can go to manaoag after your swimming at the beach.
It's a place where you can find many small resorts which can cater to your needs. It's a relaxing place to take a break from the hustle and bustle of city life.
The San Juan area has quite improved and really good to have more events in surfing to attract visitors.
Seems like quite a good place for surfing, or learning surfing, but it's also a nice place to just come and relax.
La Union's best hotels with breakfast

It's right beside some of the best restos and cafes (like El Union) and is a very short walk away from the bars like Flotsam and Sebay Surf Camp. Its location and value for money, together with their customer service is what I liked best about the place. The air conditioning was working, the room was well lit, their wifi was very reliable. The staff were nice enough to...

The place was 5min drive away from San Juan surfing spot. We didn’t have a hard time going back and forth to the area since it’s near and it’s accessible thru car or one jeepney ride worth 10pesos only. Tita Malou and Tito Tommy were really nice and accommodating. The breakfast and lunch were really great and delicious! They even prepared everything for us before it’s ...
