Traveling to Indonesia? Find Magelang hotels

Unfortunately we were there only 2 nights. Lina is a very welcoming, kind, open-hearted, lovely person and a Mother for 40 Kids leaving in the orphanage. Children are very happy there, and really happy that you stay there. Conditions are more than enough. It is also very close to the Borobudur Temple entrance and right in front of the Monahra hotel if you want to go for sunrise or sunset in the temple it is very convienient location. It was hard to leave the place, we didnt have enough time :(

The owner is a very nice guy. He would give you a lift to Borobuder if you want to see the sunrise at 4:30 am. Breakfast is really good which is traditional Indonesian food. I came back at 9.30, so he gave me a brunch. He is a voluble person who speak quite fluent English, you can know a lot about Indonesia from him.

Further away from ferry better cheaper hotel maybe expensive room ok run down old BUT NEXT DOOR TOWARDS FERRY HIRED MOTORBIKE 50000. A day kawah ingen worth a visit but take the good road google maps road horrendoust

Yudo and his team were very welcoming and did everything to make our stay enjoyable. They found us luck when many restaurants nearby were close for Ramadan and they organized very inexpensive motorcycle rides anywhere we wanted to go. Accommodations are basic but clean and cozy. Keep in mind that the homestay is a distance from the main town and not easily walkable but Yudo was more than helpful with transport.

It is an old hotel in Magelang, near the bus station and just in front of the main road. The staffs are very lovely.

For a price so low, it is an acceptable room with fan. Very near to the Borobudur temple, just about 1.2 km away walk. Beautiful sight to behold. You can take a bus from the city to arrive at a hotel at a fraction of what the pedicab will charge you. You get to savour the local delicacies around the area.

At the time i write this review, the photos dont represent the actual room. What you get is a shared room. Like the name says Dormitory. While it's very cheap, it doesn't suit if you're a couple. And what makes me wont recommend this on friend, because when I arrived there to checked in. The hotel doesn't recognize my booking, because they claim their staff didn't market this dorm on Agoda. I called Agoda Customer Service and the problem resolved, because thankfully the owner responded and i get to stay there for the night. Unless the Dorm/Hotel Omah Setumbu resolved their agreement with Agoda dont book there using this site. But i appreciate the Owner hospitality even after the bad start.

Ada is awesome! The room is an excellent value, large and very clean. Easy walk (maybe 1km, maybe less) to Borobudur. Very near to the bus terminal (about a 2 minute walk). Near the traditional market as well as many restaurants and shops along the main road. But it is really Ada that makes this place so special, she really cares about her guests and treated me like I was family not just as a customer. She also knows everything about the area and had great suggestions to help me along the way. ADA IS THE BEST! THANK YOU Ada!!!

This hotel is located near Candi Borobudur. Owner was very friendly and kind. When I spoke to him about my travel plan, he tried to arrange as long as possible. I was really satisfied with his services.

On arrival we were greeted by a wonderfully enthusiastic receptionist, but after that she disappeared.The remaining staff were impartial at best. As we wanted to rent a scooter we were quoted double the price we have been given anywhere else in Indonesia, and when it arrived it had no petrol. Also the cleanliness left much to be desired. All in all the rooms were cheap and fine for one night if your heading there just for the Borobudur sunrise

Budget hostel close to Borobudur, Staff are very good. The owner ask us if we need umbrella when we go out for dinner (alough only small rain at that time). But during dinner, it rain heavily. They also include good indonesia breakfast.

I think this hotel should be rated 3 or maybe 2. The poor neighbourhood might be the reason for 1 star rating. A few beggers around and people staring at us as white tourists. Overall I loved staying in Magelang. We found a small cafe within walking distance and had a cuppa and delicious roti cocolate (jaffle filled with nutella sort of). Wide pavements to walk on away from cars. We had dinner at an ECO park with only locals. It was quiet and nice outdoors close to yet another giant Bunyang tree with a fence around it.

book this homestay in order to catch Borobudur sunrise at Manohara Resort. It takes about 35mins to walk there and make sure to know the main entrance to the resort as all the others were closed in the early hours. Tired asking the staffs but they couldn't speak English. The economical rooms were small but very clean. we end up spending most of the time at the common area which was nice and spacious. We had a good homemade dinner there. The bath heater was not working but the water was refreshing and cool. The staffs were nice too. Overall its was a great stay!

I just love, love, love Mettaloka Guest House! I extended my stay by two days so I could stay longer. I really think people should stay in Borobudur instead of Yogyakarta, because it is a lovely town, quiet, easy to get around, and much more beautiful! I highly recommend Mettaloka as the place to stay!

A very nice guesthouse. Well situated. It was easy to walk to Borobudur for sunrise tour. They offered welcome drink (coffee) and breakfast. The room is big and very clean. New A/C. Super fast WiFi in the lobby but we could use it from the room as well! Great place for a good price. We would recommend to anyone going to Borobudur.

it's a modern and clean hotel for a budget rate. The room was really nice and modern. very clean too. Parking is available on the hotel yard. breakfast was limited using a voucher with value. recommended for a short stay in Magelang town.

The owner husband and wife are very nice. Kind owner, clean and comfortable room, nice breakfast, warm welcomed. As I was traveling alone (woman), I felt relieved very much when the wife and the son welcomed me. The owner arranged Borobudur sunrise tour and transportation for me. It was really nice and warm homestay. I traveled Indonesia for 26 days this time. Efata homestay is the best. I recommend and want to stay again.

This hotel is a good value-for-money accommodation in Magelang. The room is well-maintained and the staff is really friendly and will greet you with all smiles. The breakfast we had was great with quite a lot of variety. Would recommend this place to anyone staying in Magelang

Big bungalow, great view ! They drove us to borobudur temple at 4:30 in the morning with scooters, they were super nice ! The room is clean. We didn't always have hot water but it's often the case in java... We definitely recommend this place !

Nice and cheap hotel close to the location of the Borobudur temple. The location little bit inside in the shophouse (ruko) area. Know this location from Maps and the rating is pretty good. Parking in front of the hotel in a row of shop houses but it is safe because there is a hotel and shophouse security. If you traveling with family, take 2 rooms with connecting door. If you want to have a view, take a room with a higher class. Even though it's in a shop house complex, but the hotel is comfortable and clean.

Value For money : well for 250K this is one of the best location to reach city attraction in magelang (Alun-alun, food) Location : city center, close to some good food place Facility : standard budget hotel one room with bathroom, the room cold be better if space arrangement for bathroom can be better. the bath room is to large for budget hotel. but for me the bed is really good. Cleanliness : well i need to ask the staff to replace the bedcover and all the cover for pillow don't like the damp felling from touching it. Staff : always open the main door for me simple but noticeable for me. when I ask my car to out from the little parking lot since the other car blockade around 4 car in the 3Am they quickly do that in 30 Minute good job Facilities : Well There is WiFi with minimum connection. I don't see the soap and the shampoo in my bathroom the other room i rent is have the soap and shampoo....

The place felt like a real secluded retreat with a mountain behind but close enough to Borobudur temple and lots of little villages. The house has a beautiful interior which feels authentic and comfortable. The outdoor spaces were delightful. I spent a lot of time relaxing and reading on the day beds in the warm sun. Gafar made me feel at home with his friendly welcome treats and his amazing escorting experience.

Need improvement for room cleanliness especially for the wall and ceiling, add hot water for bathroom.

The guest house is a challenge to find. Taxi drivers even have to ask locals the whereabouts of this place. However, it is located about a mile from the temple. For those who want to save, you can take the Damri bus to Borobudur (not Magelang) from the airport at 80,000 rupiah one way. Once you reach the bus station in Borobudur, either you walk a mile or take a ojek about 3,000 rupiah to the guest house. This guest house is made up of huts, like chalets, low ceiling height and have basic necessities like hot shower, toiletries. At night, you cannot venture out because there is no where you can go. No shops or eateries, totally dead and dark by nightfall. If you take a trip to visit the Borobudur, Budi the helpful staff who tripled as a check in staff, cook and guide, will take you on his motorbike at 5am to Manohara Hotel where you pay 380,000 rupiah for the entrance fee to see the sunrise. Although the price is steep, once you are in Yogya, visit it for once in a life time. Special thanks to Budi who can speak English and provide you with any tour information that you may want.

This hotel in the center of Magelang City. Its near with old bus station and also near with Shopping center. Facility complete including Big Swimming Pool. Staff friendly. Only this hotel doesnt have elevator. So if you get room in the 2nd floor you need to use stairs. Quite difficult for old people. Have to deal with them to ask for 1st floor room.

(All the hotel employees are warm and friendly. More importantly they are professional, and helpful without being intrusive. You have both privacy and convenient!) + Ambiance. (If you want a hotel stay that feels like home, this is a perfect place for you) + Location. (It is located in the middle of the city. You can get anything at anytime within the walking distance. Fancy a shopping time? 300m away is the shopping district. Fancy some street food for breakfast/lunch/dinner? there are more than 20 different vendors within 200m. Ops, there is no spa in the hotel, but do you feel like to rejuvenate yourself with some treatment? 50m just across the street there is a spa with unbelievably affordable price.) + Value for money. Private accommodation, recommended for transit or before visit city of Magelang [sightseeing Borobudur]. Minus eat services [limited or no breakfast over]

The hotel is very comfortably located just next to the entrance to Borobudur temple, which is the main reason we selected this hotel. We contacted them before our arrival and inquired about a pick up from Yogyakarta Airport. They were very helpful and even suggested that since we arrived in the morning, to take us with the car to see Prambanan temples and then later to go to the hotel. And this for a small addition fee. Everything worked out wonderful. The driver was very nice and we were able to see Prambanan, taking our time before going to the hotel. The following morning they helped us arrange a sunrise visit to Borobudur. You wake up at 04:30 and they take you with a car to the special sunrise entrance. It is highly recommended as it is a unique experience to see this beautiful temple during sunrise. I highly recommend to stay at a hotel like Watu Agung and not in Yogyakarta. It is a huge advantage to be so close to the temple. The rooms in the hotel were small but still comfortable and the staff very friendly and helpful. I can highly recommend Watu Agung Guest House.
