Traveler impressions of Malaga

More about Malaga

Malaga is home to some of Spain’s greatest archeological sites, and more famously known as the birthplace of the artist Pablo Picasso. This Mediterranean city is especially perfect for the laidback traveler, offering a great mix of old and historic architecture and cobblestone alleys leading to heritage homes and cathedrals with stunning coastlines. The city is served by Malaga Airport, which is one of the busiest travel hubs in Spain with connections to major European cities.

Being a coastal city, Malaga enjoys the benefits of a great deal of natural beauty. While the beaches close to the city center are a great option for those looking for a little sun bathing in between the parties, the more breathtaking views can be had further out of the main city and along the secluded coastline. For these views, head to beaches such as Playa de la Malagueta and enjoy the full view of the Mediterranean coastline.

While Malaga has its fair share of nightlife, and Spanish culture allows for very late nights, there’s much more to Malaga than just late night parties. The city is home to many fine museums and art galleries, as well as some beautifully-preserved Moorish castles. One of these is the Castillo de Gibralfaro, which sits upon the hills overlooking the entire city and coastline. There are also some hotels in the hills behind the city, perfect for the summer months when the city center can be very hot and crowded.

There’s a lot more to see and do in Malaga, and the best way to discover what else this city has to offer in terms of attractions, landmarks, and hotels is by exploring the interactive map on this page.
