Friendly rural typical Rajasthan village. Hire a local guide for about 300Rs for a walking tour of viilage to see old havelis but they will take you to their chosen shops ( its normal for india) but shop keepers were friendly, priced reasonably and not too pushy.
Do not stay at Shakawati Hotel
I think Nawalgarh has a lot more impact . the Podar Museum is breath taking and they have an excellent guided tour , Mandawa seems to concentrate mot hotels in the area .
It is all down to taste . I would still stay where we stayed,ie the Vivaana, which is in Churi Ajitgarh.
Small city of Mandawa - great place to explore old rich merchants time, real taste of Shekhawati area, all the town is like an alive museum.
Lots of havelis with beautiful paintings. Mandawa has the feel of a bygone age, animals roaming freely, dirt roads, small businesses.
I like this place a lot, its my thrid visit.
Nice place do do a stop over for a tour. Half a day is suffiecient time to do the sightseeing. Inhabitants are very friendly.
It was interesting to the village life in Mandawa, the people were very friendly, lots of history to see.
