The location of the hotel is indeed great and Maktesh Ramon is certainly worth a visit. The spa facilities (swimming pool and treatments) were of very high quality. The choice of dishes at breakfast was impressive. The only huge downside of the hotel is the reception staff, which was very unfriendly ane unhelpful even compared to relatively low standards of the hospitality industry in Israel. By paying around 300€ per night we were expecting friendly personnel. It would take us 5-10 minutes to get someone at the reception to pick up the phone to order room service. Then, when we wanted to go to sleep and did not know how to turn off the lights at the small swimming pool at our terrace, we called the reception and the lady said she did not know how to do it but promised to call a "maintenance guy" to drop by to check it "within 5 minutes". 30 minutes passed and there was no maintenance guy and the lights were still on. We called again and a different person at the reception said that lights could not be switched off from the room, only from a remote control room and that she would call a maintenance person again to switch them off. When we asked why no one explained to us how the lights exactly worked before, she replied in a very rude tone "how am I supposed to know? That was someone else you talked to", which we found really unfriendly. Only when my husband mentioned he would speak to a manager she changed her tone and within 5 minutes the lights went off and we could finally go to bed.
