"Regent hotel has been absolutely great. It's super clean and the staff is just the best. So helpful, so friendly and all speak English. We had no problem at all. The hotel is a out 2kms away from 'downtown'. They hotel helped us hire a scooter for the day and it was no problem getting around. We had to cut short our stay at the hotel as we were not able to get the island rides we wanted to (through 3rd party companies). The hotel didn't bat an eyelid and helped us cancel the rest of our stay at no cost. Really appreciate their effort is going the extra mile to make us comfortable at every step of the way. Highly recommended if you need a comfortable clean and well appointed room to stay at in Myeik. "

"We stayed here as a treat after backpacking around Myanmar for a month; the pool and nice amenities were so inviting, we couldn't say no. For reference, I've been solo backpacking for about 8 months, and my friend has been backpacking for about 5 months; we're not flashpackers or business travelers. So this place is about 6 times more expensive than we're used to, but splitting it for one night was doable. There were a few things that made us scratch our heads-- there is a bellboy trolly used to transport bags, but only until the main building where the rooms are-- from there, they need to be carried (the bellboys are happy to do this), as there are only stairs around the building. Not an issue for 2 young backpackers, but perhaps a challenge for other travelers. Wifi was pretty good, the view from our room was really nice, and the balcony was nice to sit on in the early morning and afternoon/for sunset. Breakfast was a big spread of western and asian dishes. Everyone was very friendly and helpful, although some of the staff struggled to understand my English (native speaker). "

"This hotel is not only the best deal in Myeik, but one of the better hotels I've stayed at in Myanmar. Excellent rooms, spotless, spacious, and well equipped; friendly staff; great views from the roof deck; and an unbeatable location, just minutes by foot to the main market, the pagoda, and lots of great local dining options. Myeik is a wonderful town, and now that this hotel is available, I am sure to return for weekend breaks in the future. "

"Like many long-established hotels in Myanmar, this one is trying to rest on its former reputation as a decent place to stay, when in fact the city all around has passed it by. There are newer, better, cheaper places close by that are much better value for money. The room itself was thoroughly disappointing - old and worn, with plastic lawn furniture, a cheap rusty clothes rack, and a tortuous bed that should be consigned to the flames. There was some industrial green carpet unattached to the floor so perhaps I could have worked on my short game but, alas, I forgot my golf clubs. There was hot water, which theoretically could have been combined with disinfectant to scrub the black mold out of the tile grout. Wifi was just ok, and satellite TV with English language channels was a pleasant surprise. Most people, however, probably book this hotel for the view of the harbor. Hmmm. First, the view is blocked by security bars on the windows and unnecessary columns on the facade. Second, the windows are thin, so while it's pleasant to watch the waterfront activity during the day, the hammering engine noise from ancient longtail boats quickly grows appalling. There is a nice view from the top floor, but this is closed after the sad little breakfast, which was the usual toast and marg, instant coffee, greasy noodles, and the blackest bananas I have ever seen. I mean, they couldn't even walk a few blocks to the market to buy fresh fruit? A sure sign of a management that has given up, and which seems to make money more from wedding receptions downstairs than the suffering guests upstairs. Potentially, this could be a decent hotel with some renovation and reinvigorated management. But that may be only a wistful dream. Also, as with so many places in Burma but especially in Myeik, foreign tourists should be aware that they will pay far more than domestic tourists."
