Grace Inn Nagoya

"I stayed for 3 nights, it was completely average and fine. I had literally no memorable experiences here-particularly good or bad. The room is small but clean, everything worked in the room, it was quiet, smelled ok, and had all the normal hotel amenities. The staff were helpful, but I don't know about their English level-we chatted in Japanese. The breakfast was totally forgettable-boiled eggs, bread, coffee, what more do you need. The street was well-lit and safe. I think the best thing about this hotel is its' location-close to two different stations, and it is down the block from one of the best Thai restaurants that I have ever been to in Japan-called "Pakuchi" maybe. "If you are looking for a budget on a very reasonable room rate hotel in Nagoya,Japan, the best place to recommend is Meitetsu Inn Nagoya. A typical Japanese room, very clean and bed sheet and towels are all brand new. Very accessible to train station for about 7 minutes and a 10 minutes walk to Central Nagoya station where you will find central bus and train stations and big malls. "

"The hotel itself was fine and staff were very nice, The price included clean pajamas which got changes as well as the bed linings every day. The price also included breakfast. The location is within the walking distance to many central attractions of Nagoya, also very easy to find places to eat. The only thing stood out was the rubbish on the pavement outside of hotel (nothing to do with the hotel). Japan being such a clean country, it was unusual to see any litter normally, but for the 2 days we stayed in this hotel, the street where the hotel was covered by a lot of litter, which was a shame. For that reason, we can not give it a 5 star for location."

APA Hotel Nagoya Sakae Kita

"Hotel's location is great. Few meters from the metro train and away from the busy night life. (It is also near the nagoya castle if you like walking.) Rooms were not that big but this is standard for Japan hotels. Everyday housekeeping was great. Not much selection for breakfast buffet. I suggest get your food at the nearest 7-11 or any convenience store near it. "

"The hotel is 5-10 minute walk from Sakae subway station. If you come with heavy luggage, would recommend to use the exits with escalators or elevators, which will land you inside other building (but you can find your way out just fine), but it's better than lug those bags upstairs. The hotel itself is quite new and located in the middle of nightlife neighborhood, so there're bars everywhere. The room, the bed is quite comfy, but no air humidifier which I think should have been provided during winter. The breakfast was 'The Best'. I loved the traditional Japanese ingredients for the rice very much, especially the black paste. The coffee making machine was awesome. By the way, I happened to have seen the controversial book 'The Real History of Japan' that you purposely placed in the room. It's ABSURD. And since I saw the news that you are going to remove it, I'll have no complaints about this."

"This hotel was such a great last minute find for us staying in Nagoya the night before our flight. We were very pleased with our overall stay. The room was compact but plenty of space for us and a very comfortable bed and shower. It was quiet at night and AC worked well! Location was good with close proximity to good eats and shopping; a bit of a walk from the Nagoya Station, but we anticipated that! Bathroom was very clean and toiletries provided. Note: could be beneficial to have a shelf or more counter space in the bathroom! We also enjoyed stepping out on the porch from our room and taking in the view of the park across the street. Breakfast provided (paid for in booking) was good enough. Super awesome atmosphere downstairs to read some books and enjoy coffee from the cafe. Staff was helpful but one particular gentlemen seemed a bit standoff-ish and unfriendly to foreigners like ourselves, but could have been a bad day or two. Overall, great stay and good price! We recommend."

Dormy Inn Premium Nagoya Sakae Natural Hot Spring

"The room was a surprise as we expected a small room which is normal in Japan but wow. Layout was well thought out, as the bedroom is separated with the entrance / bathroom area, where the shower, toilet, and sink are all separated as well. Great idea. Bedroom itself is huge, the size of a normal room inclusive of bathroom at other hotels. Clean as its a fairly new hotel, free shuttle to Nagoya station in the morning, free Ramen late night, its own spa / small hot spring. Positives goes on and on. Amenities are basic but that's what the franchise is about, so it will never be a four star hotel but it is probably the best three star hotel you will stay at, given the location is only one station from nagoya station by subway. All in all this will be my only choice in nagoya and look forward to trying their other premium locations, saw that they just opened one in Seoul. "

Nagoya Tokyu Hotel
Sakae,Nagoya - View on map
"I visit to Nagoya 3-4 times per year, and for years I have stayed that one of the well known "western" hotel chains. On a recent trip to Nagoya, I decided to give the Tokyu a try since it would save me about 80-USD per night. I recalled staying at the Tokyu perhaps 10 years ago. When I arrived at the Tokyu, I was greeted with great coutesy, which is common at all fine hotels in Japan. My check-in was smooth, and I was escorted to my room quickly and efficiently. This was a follow-up stay, and I had left my bags with the hotel while i took an overnight bag to Osaka. My bags were ready and waiting when i arrive this second time. The rooms are a bit smaller than the Hilton, but larger than the Marriott Associa. The rooms are more Japanese in their design and decor compared to these western hotels, and I found the bed extremely comfortable, and the shower was excellent. The bathroom amenities are typical of a 4-star in Japan, and I was happy to see that the hotel has installed soap dispensers in the shower so I can avoid creating more trash by using a tiny shampoo bottle once. The single use bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and soap are all still provided, but I chose to use the dispenser products instead, and I was satisfied completely. Razors, toothbrushes, and other assorted items are provided along with hair dressing and aftershave. My only disappointment was with the room carpets. I stayed in two different rooms over the course of a week, and the carpets in both had small cigarette burns, and other small stains, but otherwise the room was in fine condition."

More about Nagoya

The city of Nagoya offers a big-city atmosphere, but is lightly visited, leaving it a popular destination for those looking to experience Japan, but without the hectic crowds normally found in other cities like Tokyo. With a four hundred-year old history, the city has much to offer.

One of the city’s biggest draws is Nagoya Castle. It was built in 1612 and restored in the 1950s, maintaining its magnificence and splendor. Nagoya TV Tower is an excellent site to visit for great views of the city from the 100-meter high sky balcony. When looking to explore the shopping opportunities, Oasis 21 Shopping Center and Osu Shopping Arcade provides everything from modern retail to mom-and-pop shops. Hotels can usually provide an abundance of information on recommended sites, including local gardens and cultural spots. A large expatriate community is catered to by several cafes and Western-styled restaurants. More authentic dishes would be udon noodels, kishimen, and miso nikomi udon.

Chubu Centrair International Airport serves the city of Nagoya, and hotels are conveniently connected to the city gateway via the Meitetsu Airport Line. Once in the city, six subway lines and taxis provide ample means to get around and explore Nagoya.
