the girl on reception was amazing!!! she is so friendly and helpful, when we arrived we had no idea what to do in the area and she gave us a map and explained everything, she was helpful every day we were there ended up staying for 3 days and she booked our bus to ninh binh for us. the place is clean, beds comfy and a nice breakfast

I booked a stay for 2 nights at Nam Long Hotel in Dong Hoi. I really enjoyed my time there and was very impressed with the clean room given to me. The girls at the front desk were very nice and friendly. The hotel staff also provided me with bicycles to get around town free of charge. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a place to stay in Dong Hoi. - Chris

This lovely homestay was one of the highlights of my trip to Dong Hoi! This homestay reflects well the character of its owner Sarah: a cheering, friendly and welcoming young lady, who works hard to make her guests happy. I was impressed by her friendliness, taking me to enjoy the beach and join her group of friends for an interesting talk. She has also made great improvements to her hotel, designing and building a private bar herself. There was nothing more satisfying than getting to know new people and having a chill and good time with them. They book good tours to the caves and they have free bikes for checking out the city center. They also provide great laundry service, they made my clothes soft and fresh like new. I loved this place and would definitely recommend it to other fellow backpackers. Love it!

It’s my 2nd time in Dong Hoi so I decided to stay somewhere different to last time. This didn’t disappoint. The family who own the place are the nicest people I’ve met in Vietnam, always willing to help, friendly welcome and great service. The rooms are clean as are the bathrooms. There’s a great balcony overlooking a lovely quiet street. There’s free breakfast in the morning which is delicious and at night there’s live music in the cafe downstairs. Honestly one of the BEST places I’ve stayed in Vietnam and I’ve been travelling around here for nearly 4 months. Highly recommended!!

Owners were lovely and really looked after us. Arrived at 5am andthey let us into our room early and theycame to our rescue when a bike we went I to town on went missing, I got a ride back on a scooter. Lovely, quiet location out of town along the river Son but a quick bike ride into town. Enjoyed playing volleyball with the family and patting the friendly cows that wandered by. My favourite place to stay so far in Vietnam and the food was delicious.

I stayed 3 nights at Rock & Roll and loved it! The rooms were very clean, the bed very comfortable (rare for Vietnam), the air con nice and cold, the WiFi fast and the owner was extremely helpful and friendly. He was honest about what I could do on my own and what he recommended me booking a proper tour for. The shower was hot and the breakfast was good! Only a baguette with egg, but there were other things on the menu if you wanted to pay. Overall I totally recommend Rock and Roll Hostel!

I ordered a room in a 4-bed dorm room, under 90k for a night. The room is okay, except that the locker cannot be closed. The hotel is 300m from the train station.

The room was clean but the beds were really bad. You could feel all of the springs. Also, the shower and the toilet were in the same room so when you showered, water would get on the toilet and sink. There was a rude encounter with one of the staff members, but we also had good experiences with other staff members there. Honestly can't complain too much, it is very cheap to stay here.

This was actually the best stay that I've had in Vietnam so far. The Owner is so sweet and friendly and helps you with everything. The house and the dormroom is super clean and cozy. 10 of 10!

we were four friends travelled to one of the worlds biggest and not much unveiled caves in vietnam. This homestay was very much value for money as we wanted only a neat place to sleep. For four people,inckuding breakfast which is home cooked was something bonus. Friendly people, small but neat place, good food. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is traveling with family and friends as well.

I booked over 48 hours before I arrived, but when I got there at 9:45PM, they told me (and another girl who had booked through booking.com) that there were no beds for us as their computer "hadn't been working" (but people who had been here the day before told me that the wifi was working just fine....). The staff was really nice and tried to find a room for us but the whole town seemed to be completely booked. They offered us to sleep on the sofas in the dorm, which we agreed to because, frankly, after 10PM, you just don't care as long as you have somewhere to put your bag down. The weirdest part though was that, around midnight, the last staff member up showed us two empty beds in the dorm?? So I just think they are massively disorganized and only "found out" about those empty beds when everybody else was in bed. Though I do wonder if the staff member would have bothered directing us to those beds if he hadn't wanted to sleep on the sofa himself.... The next day, other backpackers were sleeping on the sofa, so I don't know if they had bookings or not, or if they just fill up the dorm to maximum capacity. Considering this is a 22 people dorm and some people leave at 4AM, I slept surprisingly well. Each bed has a socket and a light and there's lockers. Only two showers/toilets though and people who haven't already checked-in or who have already checked-out use them too, so it can get messy. Breakfast was decent, internet worked fine, laundry is 30000 dong/kg. I did a tour with them, and though you can do it cheaper by yourself, it was a good option if you'd rather not drive a motorcycle in Vietnam: the tour went smoothly, the lunch was plentiful and very good, our guide spoke decent English.

Found this place as passing trade having tried 2 others in the area. By far the best of the 3 and from talking to other travellers it seems the best in the area! Got a double room - spacious, comfy beds, great en suite (great, hot shower with good pressure), clean throughout and very helpful and friendly staff who speak good english. We rented a scooter and booked our bus out via them and no hassle with either. They had a map for us to get to the local sights and were full of advice. Breakfast wasn't great. Don't be put off by the lack of reviews - the receptionist told me the place has only been open a few months and it does seem new.

The owners of the hoster are very friendly. They really make you feel comforteble and will help you with everything you ask them. The childeren of the owners do speak English. This is very unique cause so far I know no one in Dong Hoi could understand any English. It's a nice stay but the quality of the rooms is a little awfull. Everything is clean but it looks a bit molty though. The shower is right next to the toilet and if you shower the bathroomfloor will be totally wet even as the toilet it self. Overall I had a pretty nice stay wirh good airconditioning and a good circulating van.

We stayed at the sunshine hotel in order to see the caves in the national park. There's very little in Dong Hoi itself, and there is not really a centre to the town, it's just spread out along a few kilometers of main road. There is a pretty good beach a 20 minute walk from the hotel and there are a few vietnamese restaurants beside it. The owner is lovely and speaks very good english (a rarity in Dong Hoi) we hired a scooter from her for $10 (a little more expensive than other parts of vietnam, but it seems to be the going rate in Dong Hoi) and she provided a map and directions to the caves as well as giving some excellent tips on the best street food stalls in town. It's a perfectly acceptable budget hotel. Good size clean room, flat screen TV, clean bathroom with hot shower. I'd stay here again.

The room was clean and quiet with views over the surrounding landscape. The breakfast was tasty and filling. The best part of my stay was in meeting Mai, the extremely sweet, friendly and helpful receptionist. Thanks very much Mai! You made me feel very welcome.

A nice stay, but I need to score down because they booked me on a bus to Tam Coc, not Ninh Binh (12 km away). A little annoying when you arrive at 4am not at the place promised. I believe they know this, but sell tickets for this company and rather than be honest and tell you to buy elsewhere. So regardless of what is said, don’t buy a bus ticket here unless you want to go to Tam Coc only.

We booked 2 rooms for 4 ppl. The room is a little small but still comfortable for 2 ppl and with that price it is much better than our expectation. They provide almost everything for your needs: hair-dryer, electric fan though got AC, hangers, free shampoo and shower gel. Since we were going out a lot, this place is the best choice with super reasonable price.

I backpacked together with my wife for the whole of Vietnam and this hotel has to be the one that left the deepest memory for me. Our train reached dong hoi at about 5am and kind folks there allowed us to check in early in the wee hours without extra charges or complains. This was also during the Vietnam New Year period so they extended their celebration to us and offered us much food and beer. The boss is very hardworking and kind, even lent us a motorcycle to visit the caves (just had to top the tank up). This is truly a small town hotel with a heart and I recommend everyone to stay here. Its pretty much a no frills hotel but its the best I have been in Vietnam.

We stayed in four of the villas and they were beautiful. The rooms were new, huge with great bathroom. There are free wifi, a restaurant, bar, pool, and billiards table; a big lake with kayaks to keep you entertained. The restaurant has many food choices and they are delicious and reasonable . We did have lunches and dinners during the vacation here because its a bit far from towns ! Staff at front desk are extremely friendly, helpful and responsive. After checking out and on the way back to Dong Hoi city, we realized that we forgot 2 luggages besides reception desk and we called the receptionist. 2 hours later, they brought our luggages to the bus station for us. Many thanks!!!

We had a pleasant stay at Dozy Hostel. The room was spacious, nice and clean. They have a balcony on each floor, which is great place to hang out and enjoy the shadow, when the sun's getting too much. The location is great, as it is not directly down to the more busy main road, but is located a few blocks back in a more cozy and "local" area. Last but not least, are the hosts worth mentioning as they've been amazingly kind and helpful whether it's been booking a bus, scooter or recommending places to visit. Furthermore they provide bicycles for free. On top of it all they have the cutest dog, which is now our best friend!! - thank you!

This place is the perfect hotel to stay at in Dong Hoi. I stayed here twice while in Dong Hoi between trips to Phong Nha. I was so happy to come back the second time. After spending the night in the jungle and trekking for a couple of days I needed something comfortable and Gemani Hotel was exactly that. The bed is huge, the AC is strong, and the staff is amazing. The people who work here go above and beyond for guest, especially Meo. She is so friendly and helpful. She even reminded me about my trip when I forgot and made sure I was able to get on the public bus that doesn't actually stop. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay Gemani! I'll be back some day for more cave exploring!

Perfect location for exploring the Phong Nha National Park. Lai, the front desk manager was very helpful in setting up our tour of the caves and caverns. The hotel is right in the middle of the little village with ample restaurants nearby. They even arranged for a driver to pick us up from the train station in Dong Hoi and return us to the train station very early in the morning. I would recommend this hotel for your stay at Phong Nha.

The family are so incredibly kind, inviting and generous. It is located out of the city amongst the locals - exactly what we were looking for. The room opened up to a beautiful view of the mountains. It was very spacious, clean and tidy. A home away from home. They even picked us up and dropped us at the bus stop on the Main Street. Breakfast is delicious and very big. We especially loved the family - one of our most memorable stays in south east Asia!

This is a wonderful, basic hotel in Dong Hoi. Spartan, but has everything you need for the price. If you need fancy artwork or a separate dining room, this isn't for you. But it suited me fine and judging by other comments many other people too. The front desk is helpful and, while they don't all speak good English, they will refer you to a person who does. The manager is a beautiful lady who speaks great English and is super helpful in every way. All the staff were great! We booked a private driver to take us to the caves - easy peasy - and avoided the crowded 'set tour' buses (we are 3 very tall travelers). We don't like being herded through sights and just took our own time in the caves. It's cost effective, even if you are traveling alone. The caves are well worth the trip to Dong Hoi. Incredible, and set up well for tourists. There is no need to try to stay at the caves, it's a 1 - 1.5 hour drive from Dong Hoi. We extended our hotel stay becasue it was so easy to be based in the Nam Long Plus hotel. I would highly recommend just booking the car and driver they have at call. We also booked the car and driver to take us to Danang (5 hours and more comfortable than a bus or train).

I do like the toilet. Its an open air you can see the moon and starts while you take a shower. The place is calm, quiet and beautiful. All around is big mountains and windy. We grab some beers and chilling on hammock. And dinner time we order grill chicken and then the host asked my bf if he wanted to catch and kill the chicken haha guess what? Yes he did hahaha it was fun and yea the hosts are really nice.

I had 2 nights stay at this hostel with dorm option. The room is very new, clean and full facilities to let you take a rest after a long day of visiting everywhere. The owner is very hospitable, nice and friendly to support guests (rent motorbike, tour to the caves,...) Location is good to go anywhere with few mins to call to Nhat Le beach, Nhat Le bridge or go straightly to any caves in this province. I will come back here in the future.

We chose this hotel because of it’s location. We left Hoi An by bus at 1pm and by 9pm we arrived to Phong Nha. The bus left us just in front of the hotel, as it’s in the middle of the village. In the same hotel we could get the tour package for the following day (they have a lot of offers to combine paradise cave, dark cave, phong nha cave...) for a decent price. Furthermore, the bus next day picked us up in the hotel and then, when we finished the activities took us to Dong Hoi where we had a flight the next day. All included in the package price. The wifi signal was good. The room was quite big and aircon great. Breakfast is a bit simple though, just the typical rice, noodles and omelette.
