Traveling to China? Find Ningbo hotels

I've been traveling to China for the past 20 years, and have visited all of the bigger Chinese cities, and stayed in dozens of different hotels. The Ningbo Howard Johnson is without question the single best hotel in all of China. Great location, right in the city center, surrounded by lots of shops and restaurants. Probably the best staff of any hotel that I have stayed, anywhere in the World. All are professional, friendly, speak English very well, and will do whatever it takes, to help you. Facilities are great too. Great breakfast buffet, one of the nicer hotel gyms that you will find anywhere, and a nice lounge too. All of this is topped off by a very very reasonable room rate. If you plan to visit Ningbo at any time, you have to stay at the Howard Johnsons.

Love the design. GM is very hospitable. Food at the Chinese restaurant is very value and tastes amazing!!!!

Shangri-la has always been our choice hotel.Everything expected of a good 5 star hotel can be found, infact Shangrila Ningbo was better, room was very clean and spacious, staff were very friendly and helpful. Good location, 10 mins walk to main shopping area and most attractions were within walking distance. Good lobby lounge to relax in the evening. A good thing we stayed at Shangri-la, if not our 5 days stay will be a little too long and boring as Ningbo has nothing much to offer.

we stayed for one night. we used the indoor pool and gym. all the facilities are what you would expect in a 5 star hotel. the design of the hotel is very modern with art around. you can look over the lake in restaurant (one in hotel and not the seafood one in resort part- we didn't go there). grounds really peaceful and there is a really nicely designed teahouse. overall really recommend it for a long weekend, but i would stay in the hotel and not bother going around ningbo much. we haev a lot of friends there and they could not recommend anything really special about about from this hotel.

this is very good hotel, 5 stars, i like this hotel in ningbo, also second time on it. anyway we arrive and not hot water in the day so they give us upgrade to executive floor, very good. hotel lobby is beautiful, good location and the spa much better. recommended

It 's location is close to Wanda Plaza. Well decoration and service from all of their staffs. 5 stars rating hotel in Ningbo. Hotel condition and cleanliness is satified me.I like this hotel very much and will revisit here again when I come to Ningbo.

I frequent many hotels China and this new hotel comes out as one of the best experiences. Very high end, totally 21st century and for a very good price. Plenty facilities and when (like me) you do not like a Chinese (warm) breakfast; the Western option is very good and extensive. And a real (grounding beans) coffee machine...... not the horrid Nescafe that you get in most hotels in China.

This is my 4th time to live in this classics 5star hotel at ningbo. I chose to back because of it's wonderful location and history. I think all drivers in ningbo should know this hotel as it is the oldest 5 star hotel at ningbo. I love the breakfast. Fresh fruit juice, fusion between western, Japan, and Chinese. This is important especially for traveler need to stay for serval days in the same hotel. The indoor sport facilities is ok. Although the design is a bit old, it maintained very well and offer an excellent choice for sport especially at winter time.

The hotel was beautiful and the room was comfortable. However, the room heater in one of the rooms we booked wasn’t working so we had to ask for a portable heater. There is a big shopping mall near it (3 minutes walk) with a lot of food and shopping options. The room view was a castle at a theme park near it (Rommon U-Park) which was beautiful.

The hotel is nice but i was very impressed with some staff members. A special mention to Ms Queenie in the restaurant who helped me with breakfast when i didn't want to eat a buffet. Ms Queenie was very helpful and the hotel should be proud of such good people. All staff in the restaurant were very friendly.

It's my first time to go to Ningbo with my parents for a visit my parents birth place. When I was surfing the net for a hotel, HJ is not my first choice as I am under an impression that it's just another family-type USA Brand Hotel. I stayed 3 night broken into two trips during a week. On arrival, the staff immediately pour you a glass of water with a taste of lemon and cool towel while checking in. It's so refreshing. The concierge is very polite. Stayed for one night and go to another city and came back for another 2 nights. When the staff sawing me coming back, their joyous smile from their heart welcoming us certainly was very warm. The concierge even helped me to plan the activities and found a car to run around the city even using their own networking with friends. Though the hotel is not in city center but it only take 15 mins by car. I would highly recommend this hotel to others as not only the service and the price is very good.

Room are spacious, interior design are so zen, and clean. Close to airport, took approximately 20-25 min by taxi.

good memory, will go again, in the morning the fishing boat engine will wake you up, but it's nice scene, good feeling

I have stayed there many times and it is superb. Handy to the city and to the Free Trade Zone. Big rooms, great central services, very low price for what it offers. Probably not a tourist option. There is nowhere to walk to and you'd need to take a taxi even to find a shop to buy a souvenier. Customers generally China business, not many Europeans, which is a good sign for quality and value.

We stayed there just for one night during Chinese new year. The hotel was very full, difficult to find a table for breakfast. Regardless, staff were trying their best. Non-smoking room still had the smell, may be due to central heating system.

My stay in the New Century Ningbo Grand Hotel was for just 2 days. The reachability is good, staff is very friendly and speaks a decent amount of English. The rooms are big, spacous and confortable. WIFI is available all over the hotel and is fast enough for working.

I stayed during China National day. The best part I enjoyed was the big rooms and big comfortable bed. I have staed in many hotels in Ningbo and I must say the crowne Plaza hotel is great value compared to other 5 stars The M Bar has Phillpino Band which are quite good and its a nice place to elax in the evening. Location of hotel is right across from Tian Yi Square where there are loads of shopping centers and a great water system dancing to music. I recommend the buisness room and in North Wing, which is looking over Tian YI Square. Will stay again

Centrally located, with facilities all around. Good included breakfast! Clean rooms, though swimming pool and spa closes very early.

I like the location, it is surrounded by the business zone, and you can find so many good restaurants nearby, it is very convenient. The service is soso, not bad but actually not good enough, since I check-in, I didn't feel the warm welcome from the staff. Actually, when I booked the room via Agoda and sent the mail to them asked for the double-bed room, I never receive any reply. I do not like their service. The facilities in the room, I think it is good, because you can find any thing you need. The breakfast cost 100 CNY per person, and is the regular breakfast that you can feed yourself full, that's all. I don't know if LANGHAM PLACE is it really a five stars hotel, if it is, pls provide the five stars service.

Room was great, turn down service and housekeeping all spot on. Food was amazing. Staff were very helpful. Best value for money Hotel I have ever stayed at in China.

Since i did not know anything about this hotel and location, Initially i booked it for one night. After Checked in and going around the neighborhood, i ended up booking additional 3 nights. The location is good. The view from my room 2023 was very beautiful. If we walk across the bridge, there is an expensive department store and lots of restaurants and shops. Couple of convenient stores, several restaurants and KFC are located near the hotel. Hotel staff are very helpful. Some do not speak english but willing to help using the translation app. Breakfast is very nice. Taxi to go the Airport from the hotel costs around 60 RMB. Train station to the hotel costs around 30 RMB. There is a Metro station close to the hotel but i did not use it. It is a nice and safe place to stay in Ningbo.

Very nice upgrade to Executive room and floor. Hotel is ideally located right next to Tianyi the heart of Ningbo. The room was very well equipped and had a great bathroom with great rainfall shower. Only downside was room was a bit cool and it was only Nov 11. The breakfast is very good and quite complete with the typical buffet of a 5 star hotel. I ate at the same breakfast restaurant in the evening and as I do not like buffets I had a selection from the very limited menu and that was not so good complete with a loud and totally out of place Dance ensemble from Brazil as it was Brazil theme week. Not to my taste. All in all would return but if you go in mid winter ask for the heating to work well in the room

this is one of the nicest hotels i've stay at in ningbo. very comparable to the ningbo marriott but in a better location for food drinks and massages.

Nice hotel and super friendly staff. Really, the staff go out of their way to make sure your stay was a good one. Charley the concierge was a gem of a human as was the hotel manager. Breakfast is pretty decent with a good selection of Chinese and Western meals. In room dining is average with a very limited menu. Gym is pretty good with a bunch of modern equipment and lots of space. Pool is first rate to say the least. Overall, nice spot. I stayed there because it was close to my business associates office.... however, it is not near the action of Downtown Ningbo..... so you'll be cabbing to get anywhere interesting at night time.

This is the best hotel in Ningbo. You can bring your whole family and have fun . Very clean and the staff are attentive. Their taxi service improved a lot since we came back last month. They will give you whatever you need to make your stay comfortable as ever. Service with a smile. and the best thing of it is ..the gym and the fun area. My favourite hotel in total!!

I spent one night here with my best friend, the check-in was fast, the nice guy upgraded us to executive floor and it was a fairly spacious corner room with breathtaking view of the rivers and city center. I guess it is a relatively new hotel judged by the facilities, and its central location make everything we need within walking distance. The only negative thing about the hotel is the price, 908.5 inc service charge is still a little bit expensive to a second-tier city like Ningbo.

Have stayed at several Vienna locations & have always found them to be average to above, certainly in terms of staff (though few speak English--have your translator program ready if you can't speak basic Chinese). But, they try hard to be accommodating. Facilities are standard and locations generally strategic. I chose this one due to its proximity to Ningbo's airport. Had requested non-smoking room (good luck with that at non-western franchises in China) on a high floor. Got the high floor but was gobsmacked by cigarette smell when I opened room door. Went back to check-in and requested a different room due to smoke smell; at first, they just wanted to give me a can of air-freshener, but once I told them that was not acceptable, they did move me promptly to fresher-smelling room; but poor ventilation is common. Breakfast buffet not great, certainly not like other Vienna locations, but included w/room. Great traditional restaurant across street: Old Ningbo 1381...check it out.

Fantastic - I will absolutely stay at this hotel when I return to Ningbo. The staff are absolutely brilliant and the attention to detail is outstanding. For example when waiting for my colleague to arrive in the reception area a complimentary cup of coffee appeared. In addition the duty manager offered to take me to the railway station if I didn't already have transport arranged - really friendly and helpful people.

I spent a night in Portman hotel in Ningbo. The location was awesome and the studio room much better than other 5 star hotel room! awesome
