"I found Karaksa the best choice hotel for location that is near to Shin Osaka which has JR, Metro and Shinkansen and lots of restaurants. It took abt 5-8 min to walk to station. Staff are helpful and very nice. They delivered our luggage to the room already when we got back to the hotel at 9pm in the first night. The room has everything even more than we expected - a small sofa, a bath tub, pajamas (compared to what we heard about hotels in Japan). Beds are comfy two pillows (hard and soft). Shower was strong and we can put two (one big and one small) luggages in the room. Lawson downstair- u dont need to go out of the building and public bath which is very clean and not crowded. Room is also clean. The building is new and well designed. Would recommend this hotel to anyone. Fyi that I had two beds standard room. "

"this hotel is definitely the best option if you're going to universal studios in osaka. the price is incredibly reasonable and the rooms are the best in town. everything is clean and well maintained. i also found the rooms to be very spacious and a little more "western like". it's not for the downtown experience but a great addition to your trip if you're planning to spend a week or so in osaka. taking out money is a bit tricky as the lawson doesn't allow international visas. there is a 7-11 about a 10 minute walk from the hotel where you can take out funds. in fact, try to know where all of the 7-11's are in japan wherever you're staying as they are a great place for not only taking out money but also pigging out on snacks. happy travels. "It was our first time in Osaka & in Japan. Miss Kawahira made sure that we were treated well & that we had the best experience at Hotel Universal Port Vita. She personally wrote us a card to wish us a Happy 28th Wedding Anniversary. Miss Kawahira has excellent work ethics, is dedicated to her job and has a welcoming & caring personality. She went out of her way by providing us with clear instructions on how to get from Yokohama to Hotel Universal Port Vita by the Shinkansen train & then to Lake Biwa by the JR train. She recommended us to some areas of interest & even walked us to the pier to catch our boat ride to the Port of Osaka. I hope her manager will recognize Miss Kawahira for a job well done & make sure that she receives the employee of the month award for her outstanding service. Thank you, Hotel Universal Port Vita, for having such an exemplary employee work for you. Because of people like Miss Kawahira, we will stay at your hotel again. Mr. & Mrs. T. USA"

"We stayed in the double room the first night and it was tiny even for japan standards. There was no space to put my luggage. The 2018 Osaka earthquake happened early next morning and we requested a lower floor room. This was a twin room and it was much better. The hotel will tell you to use the "wbfhommachi" wifi network but it was unstable and I found it much better to use the one in your room. There's a separate wifi network for each room. The password can be found in the TV (the TV has this function which lets you cast your phone to the TV. One of the instruction pages show the wifi password, it's not difficult to find). Google Chromecast works only if you use the wifi in your room. Hotel also provides a free smartphone with data in each room which you can take with you for google maps web browsing. Shinsaibashi is minutes walk away from the hotel and Hommachi subway is also nearby. Breakfast is one of the best I've had."

"The hotel is very new, only opened in late November 2019. Location wise, it is absolutely the best!!! It is connected to Osaka Station and from the overhead pedestrian walkway (easier to maneuver the huge station city) and the Osaka/Umeda Station, we could go to Lucua, Hankyu, Daimaru, Hanshin and Grand Front Osaka departmental stores! It is simply amazing. The hotel room is clean and nicely furnished. However, due to the layout, it is too cramped for four of us. I thought the room is 47m2 but we really found it hard to move around the room. There are 4 single beds in the room and only one table top right in front of the TV with a smaller lower adjacent table where the kettle and cups are placed. We couldn't find anywhere to place our three midsized luggages other than the small floor area between the wall and the beds. There is also no shelving or hooks in the bathroom, so we have to place them outside below the sink. It would be nice if the hotel could free up more space in room."

"The place is very nice and clean. It is spacious, even the toilet and shower room are spacious. The location is perfect. It is very near a Metro Train Station (so having an unlimited train pass would be very useful), near Dotonburi, and very near Kuromon market. Checking in and checking out is easy, and with their system in place, you also feel very secured in the area. Just a downside though. There were episodes of water supply interruption during midnight, so taking a bath or using the toilet during the period of water interruption could be a problem. But overall, I would definitely recommend staying in this place when you are going to visit Osaka. In fact, if I am to go back to Osaka, I would book this place again. :)"

"We booked the hotel basically because of the central location and as it offered one of the Japanese hot springs within the hotel area for free. The rooms are a little small (guess that's normal for Japan) but super handy. All we needed was in place, even an universal charger for Ipad, Samsung etc. WIFI was for free and superfast, no annoying logon process at all. Me and my girlfriend felt very comfortable and relaxed in our room. The hotel itself is pretty new and located 10min walk from JR Namba station which is a good connection to the Airport. From the hotel just a 5 minute walk and you are in Dontoburi area with lots of restaurants and a little further a nice shopping street, offered all you might be interested. We have had an amazing weekend in Osaka and because we liked the Hotel so much decided to pay for a day longer (Japan doesn't know late check out)instead for further sightseeing, have a relaxing day until we have to take off for our night flight. We really just can recommend that place!"

More about Osaka

Having gotten its start in the 1500s when its grand castle was built, Japan's second-largest city is still a place where locals appreciate the value of fine foods and designer goods. While Osaka can't compete with Tokyo in terms of scale, it certainly has a reputation for refined living.

Most of the hotels in Osaka are in Umeda, near the bullet train station. These include major international names set in prominent entertainment districts. These hotels are convenient choices for business travelers as well as tourists.

On the surface, Osaka looks like any other big city, but it hides a mammoth shopping arcade underground. A couple of these are among the largest malls in Japan, and they're completely out of sight. Above-ground boutiques are also located in the Namba and Shinsaibashi districts. Osaka Castle, a Universal Studios theme park, and the enormous Osaka Aquarium are some of the city’s major attractions.

Osaka's international gateway is Kansai International Airport. The main terminal is a mile long and well equipped with dining and shopping facilities as well as a rail link to the city center.

Be sure to check out the interactive map of Osaka for information on hotel locations, attractions, and must-see destinations.
