Here is more like a hotel rather than a guest house. The hotel is very new. I booked Deluxe Room, but the owner upgraded to Superior with free of charge. The room I stayed was wide and clean with good WiFi signal. They have two bicycles and offered guests for free. When I asked the owner where to visit and what I should enjoy in Phayao, he kindly gave me direction...

This is my first time to stay at this hotel and it is quite good. Rooms for myself and my family members where nice and large and equipped with regular stuff for a room. Breakfast is limited to a one choice and probably could ask for more toast or an extra piece of meat. Overall, a good and comfy place to stay at Phayao.

Staff helpful, friendly. Gave us room with stunning lake view as requested. Spacious room, delicious Thai breakfasts. Easy walk to shops, cafes, night eating street, unmissable sunsets at the lake. Big very clean pool, big gym, billiards room. Phayao people on the streets exceptionally friendly, welcoming.

You'll need your own transportation to get out here. It's actually just off the no. 1 highway, but the closest area of note is Phayao University. It's about 16km from Phayao, so it's not convenient if you want to see that city. It's a great place with Japanese design. It's a bit more than other places but your get a lot of space-separate bedroom, living room, kitchen ...

Lovely hotel and service. Just stayed here for a night, but we'll be soon back again (Phayao is great by the way!). Just a few meters from the bus terminal and main market, 10 min to the lake. The adjacent cozy restaurant offers coffee, breakfast and food at reasonable prices. We'll be back soon!

First of all, this little town is kind of in the middle of nowhere, so to find a clean and comfortable room for a reasonable price (750b for "deluxe") was a pleasant surprise. Very functional layout with plenty of desktop space, AC, fridge, comfy bed, nice TV (Thai only) plenty of power points, hot shower, and a small balcony. Wifi was stable. Large carpark, which is n...

This guest house may be the best around the vicinity of payaoh. The hosts are a friendly elderly couple and you get breakfast every morning. You can also eat there and they have fresh coconuts to serve it as a smoothie. Definitely recommended, you can't go wrong!

Big modern appartment that is right next to the lake. The room was very clean with a large bathroom and the bed was comfy. The pool is even better than in the photos and you can look right over the whole lake with nothing in between. We were mostly the only ones in the pool, so very calm. Moreover, Banna is a lovely host who helps you where she can. We definetly r...

The friendlyness of staff was a big plus at this small hotel. Also they spoke good English which really helped in my case. The open lobby area was very nice and a good place to have a beer and meet other people. The only negitive about the hotel was the small ants that seemed to be everywhere in the bedroom and bathroom. I would stay there again if I was staying in Ph...

The staff helped me on the phone to find the resort and spoke good English. I was shown the cottage as soon as I arrived late in the evening and informed about breakfast. Each unit is a separate cottage with a good size bedroom and a bathroom. The room had a Satellite TV with mostly Thai channels, wireless internet, and air conditioning. The room was clean and ready. T...

We stayed at this hotel with 3 little children and they had a blast, though it would be great for honeymooners because of how quiet and peaceful it is. The location was formerly a knitting factory, but with the economic downturn they have converted the compound into a resort. The actual rooms where you stay was formerly a resort house constructed for the managing dir...

The elderly couple who run this hotel are the most generously sweet people you will ever meet. We rode our large motorcycles from Chiang Mai to Phayao and they brought our bikes inside the building for safekeeping overnight. We didn't even ask them to do this for us! Smiles all around. Just around the corner there are many seafood restaurant options and cafes for a lat...

Very nice family run guesthouse run by a thai women and her english husband. Both are very friendly and helpful and can give you advice about the things to do in the region. My room was very spacious and had a well equipet mini-bar, flatscreen tv, hot wather and wifi. The price of 300 baht per night is unrivalled in and around of phayao. The guesthouse is a few kilomet...

Traveler impressions of Phayao
Phayao City is located on a wonderful lake. The lakeside has plenty of nice restaurants and a nice area to stroll around along the lake.
This is a quiet small town and not a "touristy" place for farangs, though I have been told it is frequented by Thai visitors who enjoy the lake and the beach promenade.
Phayao is simply a beautiful, peaceful city with great natural resources. The lake and the mountains are so pretty that you just want to stay there forever.

Phayao sits on the shores of Phayao Lake where much of the leisure and recreation is to be had. Whether looking to capture the view in person or with a camera, the lake really sets the scene with foggy mornings and reflections on the water both day and night. There is also said to be a sunken temple in the lake that might be discoverable with a dive. Some easier-to-access land-based temples worth a visit can be found on Bussarakham Mountain. Wat Si Khom Kham is the most important temple of the area, and Wat Analayo offers magnificent city views. Plenty of accommodation options are available alongside the lake.
