Traveling to India? Find Shimla hotels

The guesthouse is small but in a cosy. Very good situated just between te main road andere the fantastic lower bazaar and with an amazing view from the roof terras. The contact with the host(owner), was very pleasant and friendly service beyond expextation. It soon felt like home and I decided tot stay another night.

:) the rooms are clean, the quilts are thick, so you're warm at night, even with cold weather outside :( bathrooms are broken and not maintained well. They are not dirty though. Water is hot (between 7p.m and 9a.m) and of good pressure

We stay here for two days. Location is little bit difficult to find. It's a good budget home stay. We had only breakfast ,Bread jam, bread omelette, pori baji, alloo paratha it was very good.I recommend this home stay for everyone .

The rooms bathrooms are very clean and maintained and are quite big. Hotel staffs are welcoming and in service any time. Location is beautiful its 13km before Shimla. Its quite a place to be in. We enjoyed our stay in this hotel.

we stay at this hotel on date 30-6-2012,the location was good,the manager and staff was good and very helpful,room was clean and big as well as bathroom was very clean...resturant was clean and food was good in quality and feel like home food.hotel was some what 2.5km away from chail but it dosent matter because all hotels are on same road, sunset was amazing to see,over all we love to stay there when ever we go to chail again........

Everything clean and tidy. Location was near mall road but after a steep hike. Parking only for cars not for bigger vehicle. I did not try buffet so cant say much. Ordered fried rice and it was tasty. Only few rooms have open view. I stayed in room#306. It does not have good view. Door key hole is not covered, curtains dont fold completely, taps etc are a bit clumsy. No light switch near bed, Tea kettle a worn out. But all serve their purpose. So overall nice place to stay in Shimla. Its value for money.

Very friendly staff, great hut rooms, value for money, great location. Hotel food is cheap and tastes really good. Located far from shimla.

Booked hotel from the Agoda.... The actual tariff for the room is not more than INR 1800 + Taxes but paid more than 3K to Agoda. Food was fine but staff was more helpful. Location is also non-traceable for the first timers. I called up hotel and they send HK to escort me to hotel. Request you all to skip the option of staying and even if you want to stay in a budget hotel, then book directly as at the same price mentioned in Agoda, you will get better rooms.

We went there in a group of 3 families, and enjoyed a lot. It felt almost like a second home. We had 3 rooms in one floor and the central common sitting area served as our living area. The view was beautiful and the staff were very accomodating. Thank you for a great experience.

Sanjeev and his family are great hosts. On the first day he showed me the city center, arranged my next train ticket and the food was delicious. I enjoyed the sunset on there balcony. Awesome. Everything was perfect. Thank you so much!

The location is great.. the staff is really good. They are all well behaved and they make sure your stay is comfortable. The breakfast could be a little more elaborate in my opinion but all in all, a good deal for the money!

I'll highly recommend hotel Maharaja for stay. It is 10 min walk from main nazar and mall road, amazing view out of windows.

road travel to shimla is always a fine one. what you would expect is the hotel to not fudge on the room type as soon as you check in. the bed linen was dirty and although the hotel changed it, they weren't ready to accept that it wasn't clean. the room size was super small even though it was a super deluxe, but cozy. service of the staff was prompt, but not necessarily warm. one staff in particular was the only one who was keen to serve; others were most disinterested. food was a put off, as opposed to other reviews which we read and on the basis of which decided to patronise the hotel. one other put off was the "complimentary" trip to the mall road. on the website it says free pickup and drop facility to the mall road. it hasn't been made clear that only once during your stay this will happen. every other time u need it, extra payment of 300 INR is to be paid. parking is definitely an advantage. hotel could certainly do with more recreation activities. do not miss the local bus ride in the hills...it is like a roller coaster ride, extreme traffic and driving included!!!

We stayed at Vadaan home stay for 1 night during our trip in Shimla. Even though the location is quite far from town around 12 km. but the view through window and terrace is worth as well as the staff which is family is very friendly and helpful. They helped us for arranged the day trip with a reasonable price and recommended us a good hotel in town for our 2nd night.

Access is typically bad for Shimla town and off site parking is a nightmare. Once installed the staff are helpful and appreciative of International guests.

I would not repeat it. Apart from the grime ended up with an upset tummy. Since there were no pleasant walks or anything to do within the 'resort' had to call for cabs all the time. while the view from the window was nice, the place is a mere 10 or 15 ft from the main highway, so the noise of traffic was a constant not a tranquil experience. lack of any amenities leaves you stranded.

Must go for anyone who ever is staying in chail.. Peaceful n lovely stay... Loved the ambience n the food... Super delicious...

A nice hotel. Convenient location in the heart of Shimla (and close to the palace and the temple of Hanuman). The staff is very polite. There is hot water. Clean. Fish and a beautiful garden. Wi-fi works great. Thank you very much. Be careful! Next to the hotel travel agency Great Himalayan Travels works there fraudster Sachin. Go to the hotel this agency has nothing to do, just close located.

aapo aap was wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. my husband and i have visited india regularly over the last 25yrs and nothing has ever come close to this truly delightful homestay. everything exceeded our expectations. it’s an exceptional place to stay. shivi and his family are absolutely charming; they make you feel really welcome from the moment you arrive at their beautiful home. set on a hillside a few miles from shimla, the views are stunning from dawn to sunset – it takes ones breath away. it’s a tranquil, serene place which, for us, provided a much needed sanctuary after the noise and frenzy of indian towns and cities. the rooms are super: large, spacious, beautifully decorated, fully-equipped and very clean. no detail has been overlooked in making your stay as comfortable and carefree as possible – power adapters, tea/coffee, iron, guidebooks, washing lines, internet, mobile telephone etc. shimla town is a short drive away, but this is not a problem as shivi ensures cars are readily available and reliable. we loved the town – there is so much to see and do there. just “malling” like the locals is great fun. mr singh, shivi’s father, suggested we try the indian coffee house on the mall for a good cup coffee. what a gem, super lunches too! shivi was really helpful with hotels, transport and walking routes in the surrounding area. we did several walks and came back with some spectacular photographs. we had dinner with the family every evening – it was wonderful to be able to try authentic (and really delicious) home cooked food, to learn about the recipes, ingredients and family traditions. being able to sit down with the family in the evenings made our 4 day-stay at aapo aap very rewarding and we returned to england with many happy memories of the kindness and warmth shown to us during our time there. we hope to return again soon.

Giving review for another property of the same owner, I have booked for Sitapur village resort and when I called for booking confirmation I came to know that there was some electrical issue going on at the resort and the customer support provided me accommodation to their mall road property. I wanted to be at peaceful and not much crowded place but eventually my kids have enjoyed the mall road shopping and Diwali celebration. The hotel staff was nice and very cooperating will visit this hotel again.

This hotel is good for bag packers. Room prices on internet were higher than that being offered at hotel reception. I would suggest to call hotel and check prices before booking via internet. Hotel rooms were small but clean. Some rooms had good outside view and some had wall outside the window. This hotel is 5 Kms away from Mall road, parking is a real problem if you have to visit mall. Parking outside hotel can be tricky as-well if you come late. I booked my hotel through agoda but somehow hotel people had no clue about my booking. After a brief wait hotel was offered to me. When checked at hotel reception, room prices booked by us were higher than that being offered at hotel reception. Buffet Breakfast was ok with limited options at not so high price.

The hotel is far approx 5 km from Mall Road The hotel do not have a restaurant of their own. The hotel is old and the rooms are though big but not very clean .

Everything from the rooms to the service was really good. But I had paid for the breakfast and they did not provide that and hence I was overcharged. It is 14 kms from Shimla. During day, it takes around 1-2 hours to reach Shimla depending upon the traffic. It is a quite hotel on the highway. The food tastes above average. The owner is humble and a nice person but a bit ignorant about his own collaborations with Agoda.

Pros : Beautiful location with scenic views from the rooms. Great hospitality and prompt service...We travelled in a group of two families ..Special thnx to Mr Avinash who coordinated my stay ,accomodated my request for postponement of dates of booking and gave a good room with a wonderful scenic view.. The kids activity room and playground is a plus if u r travelling with kids Cons: limited options in menu and food preparation was also not upto the mark..

Excellent and relaxed. The hotel is something 23 km away from the shimla bus station. If I was aware of this distance I would have not booked this hotel. You need to spend Rs 850/- to reach the hotel from the shimla station. This hotel is in Shilong Bagh one should be very very sure, especially when you are tired reach your destination and then you realise your hotel is another one and half hours to reach your this hotel.

I was a little worried at first because after I had booked, i was asked to prepay (but not given any method to do so). But everything was fine once I got there. The room was very clean and had a nice view. The bathroom was great, very good hot water. WiFi worked most of the time as well. Location is 20 min walk from mall, close to train station as well. Overall I highly recommend this place.

The hotel is decently well located. Just a 100 meters walk from the High Court. The place was not classy but that is justified by the price. A good place to crash in the night. We only ordered Tea and it was nice. There was only negative point. We booked for 8 but we were 7. He smartly counted us as 7 and told us that he has only one family room(2 double beds) and this information is wrongly fed on the site. But we got to know that there are two Family Rooms(4 bed). Although it does not impact us but was worth a mention.

The hotel is located away in a good solitary location away from the hustle and bustle of the crowded touristy areas of Kufri. Staff was very courteous even though the water lines were frozen due to extreme cold, they did their best to arrange for alternatives and made our stay comfortable

This hotel is right across from the lift to the Mall Road which is a great location as it is 10 minutes from everything in Shimla. The staff is customer service oriented. The bar is relaxing and the food is good.
