"We have been to this hotel during Winter-Spring time and had a really good experience there. The hotel is actually ~15 minutes driving distance from the bus stop. We don't drive but luckily we found the hotel shuttle service at the nearby bus station (have to ask at the info centre at bus station). Other than that, everything else is perfect. After dinner (actually a feast, a list of traditional local Japanese food), we walked in to one of the two private indoor onsen rooms with nice outdoor woodland view. After that, we had snacks in the resting room (icicles/tea/coffee/local snacks). It was really good after bathing in the hot water in onsen. The staff were very polite and the hotel was in traditional Japanese house design. Highly recommended!!"

"I would say it is only worth it to go here if you get the dinner as it is really good. You get a kaiseki dinner based on shirakawa's local cuisine which was extremely good. Otherwise, it's not really worth the price and there are other places to stay in Shirakawa-go. The okami rather had a weird attitude. during check-in I was right in front of her talking to one of her staffs in Japanese, but she doesn't talk directly to me to explain things, but rather explained to her staff who then explained to me. Other than that, everyone else in the staffs are extremely friendly. You can ask for them to pick you up from the bus terminal as it is rather far from there. They have a couple english speaking staffs, but other than them, don't expect much english from anyone else. They have rather large rooms, and large baths. I think the inn is aimed more for groups than solo travelers so just beware."

Guesthouse Ant Hut
Shirakawago,Shirakawago - View on map
"Ant House is not around ShirakawaGo Bus Terminal Stop, but absolutely not a concern, because Taro-san picked the guest and drove me to the hostel. To get to the Bus Terminal Stop the next day, we just needed to walk 3 minutes to the nearby bus stop, and pay for 160Y. The Lady of Ant House invited us with ginger tea and funny talking. I felt like home here, and I could make friends with other guests. Dont forget to check the nearby restaurant for Hida beef with cheap price (1,300Y for a Set). The Hostel is so clean, warm with heated fan and comfortable bunk beds. You can check out the scene of students going to the school nearby at 8:00AM. Evryone here is smiley and sends you warm greetings. It is absolutely a wonderful experience!"

Shirakawa-Go INN
Shirakawago,Shirakawago - View on map
"It’s a new inn managed by a local family. The place is clean and caters most of the basic necessities for a standard hostel/inn (microwave, refrigerator, hot water, and so on.) . It is cozy and has beautiful rustic interiors, it also offers unlimited free drinks (tea+coffee). The owners are very friendly and can arrange pick up and drop off at the bus station. He can also provide information about the Shirakawago village and the restaurants around the area. Close to the convenient store and about 15-20 minutes walk to the village. They offer rental bicycles If you want to cycle and explore the village. I highly recommend this place. "

Shirakawago no Yu Hotel
Shirakawago,Shirakawago - View on map
"Shirakawago is small town so basically every accomodation is convenient, same for this hotel. It has a very very nice onsen which is free for the hotel customer and cheap for walk in customer. Because shops in Shirakawago close quite early, so I had to eat in the hotel but the food is relatively cheap and very nice as well. The hotel has a nice backview to the river and cliff, especially during spring time. The room is big, although the bathroom and toilet were publicly shared, they were clean. But the price is quite expensive but because shirakawago is a small place with very limited accomodations for travelers, it is acceptable."

Shirakawago Terrace
Shirakawago,Shirakawago - View on map
"We stayed at Shirakawago Terrace on 8 Mar 18. It is a hundred old house that has undergone renovation last year. Thus, we have the best of both worlds; modern amenities in a traditional Minshuku setting. The place is very accessible; it is a mere 10 mins walk from the bus station. If you like a private bathroom, this place certainly doesn’t disappoint. The bathroom is the biggest that we ever had in any of the Japanese hotels. Furthermore, this minshuku is kept really clean and comfortable. We were received by the host Coco San and her assistant Keiko San. They were both very friendly and gave us useful tips on navigating the village. They both speak English fluently. It rained heavily on the day we checked out, and Keiko San voluntarily sent us to the bus station. It was very nice of her, as we were not carrying very heavy luggages. On the whole, I will highly recommend staying at Shirakawago Terrace if anyone intends to stay in the village for the experience."
