We spent the weekend of 15-17 June 2012 at Asara. From the sincere welcome at reception, the waiters and maintenance staff was superb - the staff go out of their way to be helpful and to assist. The Delux room was large, neat and clean. The bathrooms were also spacious with a separate bath and shower. The free WiFI was an added bonus. We had a beautiful view of the mou...

De Oude Werf property impresses on every level and we cannot say enough things about this wonderful venue. Nestled and tucked away on a trendy Stellenbosch street, we were warmly welcomed by the manager John and his concierge staff. We even got a tour of the hotel and the hospitality simply amazing. The rooms are out of this world and I leave that for you to find out....

About 7 miles from centre of Stellenbosch, this is the finest place we have ever stayed in or around the town. Beautiful surroundings, historic Dutch-style buildings and great staff. The views of the mountains and the lake are wonderful. Breakfast excellent. We had a cottage which was great. They do not serve dinner here, only breakfast and lunch, but there are pla...

The majeka is one of the best hotels I have stayed in around the world and an excellent value for the money. Every single staff member was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was one of the best presented meals and the quality of food amazing. I cannot wait to return.

Amazing views we didn’t wanna leave but we chose a wrong time to go where it was cloudy and rainy.. but still when the sun peaks out it was breathtaking... we got one of the best views! Food there is amazing too and wine tasting was so affordable and the cloud wines are top notch! Will go there again as it’s next to the Delaire Graff also, and we get a private buggy to...

This boutique hotel ticked all the boxes: excellent friendly service from knowledgeable staff; fittings in the suite, especially the bathroom were excellent, and the breakfasts superb. This hotel is located outside Stellenbosch in a quiet area with beautiful views. The rooms were large and comfortable. The restaurant was good but not of the quality that we anticipated. We stayed at Avenues Guest Lodge for 2 nights towards the end of our 4 week trip to South Africa & absolutely loved it! Avenues is very conveniently situated, meaning that we could walk to the restaurants, bars & shops. Great service from Roxanne and her team (Thanks Roxanne) The ambience is modern, stylish and elegant. The artworks from african artists are beautiful. Nice pools overlooking the area. Just perfect !

We stayed there for 2 nights to explore Stellenbosch. Peter and his staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was a little small but it was with tastful decor. From the moment we arrived at Twice Central everything was perfect. Our room was huge and decorated beautifully. It's just like your own home bedroom… except that Mars Bars are left on your pillows and there is a little bottle of wine and homemade biscuits left on the dresser! The beds are definitely worth a mention - think perhaps the most comfortable bed i've had in my whole two week stay. Friendly owners and a lovely breakfast spread available. This is in a very quiet neighb...

The unit felt like it was lived in by a permanent resident that moved out so that we can stay there. It had 4 eggs, a half a block of marg and half a block of fat in the fridge. In the bathroom it had a random collection of headache pills, dettol etc and one mall gown hanging on a hook

This place is beyond what we imagined. It’s a 4-5 rooms huge permises, each has its own private bathroom and kitchen. I enjoyed a very nice stay at Lumley's place. On arrival I was surprised to see so many cars and people but it turned out to be the owners Son's 21st birthday. All fine and I settled in for a quiet evening whilst the family celebrations took place. Later in the evening I was then invite dot join them for some unexpected dinner. The owners and the family were very frien...

The apartment has a great location, close to all the restaurants and attractions in Stellenbosch. We found the apartment, spacious, clean, comfy and well provisioned with a washer, dryer and dishwasher. The welcome pack of staples and fruit was much appreciated as we arrived late at night. The bathroom in the bedroom is a little odd, but there is a second toilet in th...

A gem of a place, and only a 10 minute walk to the town center. The staff and owners went out of their way to make this a fabulous stay and you were made to feel at home. I would stay at this guesthouse time and time again. ...

Great location near the town. We were not in the Magnolia Guest House as booked. We were in an annex in a nearby street. Met a staff member at Magnolia on arrival, then no one else for our entire visit. The room was large and clean, dated with a fridge, microwave and kettle.. No sink to wash up, had to use the bathroom. There was a large outside seating area whic...

We had 24 hours between flights and noticed Kleinbosch was only a $30 taxi fare away. Was a perfect spot, with a great restaurant next door and help on booking our taxi back the next day. Breakfast great, and swimming in the pool. Couldn't have asked for more.

I liked everything about this hotel, which is located centrally so that you can walk to all the shops and restaurants. The room was very clean with all facilities you need (coffee/tea, TV, A/C, newly renovated bathroom etc.). Very friendly hotel manager.

Located centrally next to Stellenbosch Universities main campus, the lodge is situated in some old traditional building (heritage?) and the whole atmosphere around the place is quite nice. The lodge itself is actually quite cute and has so much potential which could be uncovered if only it were treated properly. Just because the building is old, that doesn't mean that ...

Laanhof Victorian Place is an excellent place to spend some time in Stellenbosch. Very quiet yet convenient location with easy walking distance to restaurants, shops and university. Our room was a good size with a very large appealing bathroom. Everything was spotlessly clean and well thought out. We appreciated the bit of outside space we could use once back from exp...

My second year staying in 7 Ackerman Place in Stellenbosch. Such a lovely place and only walking distance to the centre. Very close to Stellenbosch and 25 minutes from the airport of Cape Town and 10 minutes to the big Somerset mall. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is prepared to order and is excellent. Fast laundry service and a good Restaurant. We can rerecommend it anytime. Sept.2017

Can recommend a stay at the self catering units. View is amazing and you have a large spacious unit with a big kitchen as well as a stoep with braai facility. Large garden with lots of birds on the dam. Only downside is that the units are close to a main road and flies seems to be a problem. Wine tasting as well as a restaurant at the farm. Check before you arrive if...

Old decoration. Could be nice but would need a bit more love, to me. Stay in itself was alright. Room too full of useless furnitures. Pretty dirty curtains. Ok but not definitely not a wow. Would have went for cheaper. Consider the price pretty high for what it is.

The aircon did not work and the only reason I booked there was because there was an aircon facility. It was very hot and uncomfortable without an aircon.I phoned Rosie to tell her about the problem the evening and the next day two o clock they still hadn't attend to the problem.

We stayed one night in Stellenbosch, and arrived just after dark. Daantje was waiting for us, and showed us everything. We found the room spacious and comfortable, so was the bathroom. Excellent breakfast. Daantje was so nice as t...

during our Eastern Cape roundtrip this was clearly our most spectacular hotel. A bit remotely located outside of Stellenbosch (and difficult to find for us for the first time) it is really a very special case and we regreted to have not stayed longer there (only 3 nights). We have stayed at Fynbos Guesthouse before, but this time we were placed in the Annex which is a house away. We had Room 12 which has 2 Double Beds which is great if you are travelling with children and would like them in the same Room. The Room has a TV; Tea & Coffee Making Facilities; Hairdryer; Umbrella's & a Safe. Beds were comfortable and linen spotless. Nice...

Stayed here twice before. Disppointed with the room, staff were helpful in trying to resolve but the hotel was almost fully booked. Breakfast was good and the staff very friendly and efficient. Would definitely make sure a loft room was booked for the next visit. Location great, easy and safe walking into Stellenbosch town.

I was a great stay. The positives are as follows - Exceptional staff performance, great setting on a farm, food was good, and free WIFI. The host went out of her way to accommodate my needs - special dietary and the need to use their business offerings. Specifically the host allowed me to use her boardroom on two occasions, which suited my needs perfectly. Whilst I was...

This is a superb standard of B&B. It's a beautiful property, and the rooms are gorgeous. The breakfast was excellent, a lovely choice, all cooked to order and delicious. It was a pleasure to stay at Betty and her husband’s place. Very friendly and helpful people. Personal service you don’t find very often. Nice house, very clean and comfortable room. Stellenbosch is a great town to relax in and make a base to explore his part of the country. This is a great B&B Ian central, but quiet location. Very attentive staff and good breakfast. We will st...

This is a very nice cosy guest house in the heart of Stellenbosch. The guest house is very secure and has lovely rooms and a very nice garden and pool area. the staff are very friendly and hospitable. It is a very short walk to many restaraunts, shops and other local attractions as well as the university. Internet access is good and the breakfast is very nice.

We had a very brief stay overnight at In the Vine, but thoroughly enjoyed it! The pool and surrounding area was lovely to relax in, the room itself was exceptionally comfortable, and the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. The staff were knowledgeable, helpful and so welcoming! Michelle even went out of her way to find us restaurants to try in Stellenbosch as well as did research for us on accommodations for the next leg of our journey in Oudsthoorn and Port Elizabeth. Fantastic stay!

We stayed for one night whilst celebrating my wife’s birthday. The staff at Coopmanhuijs were all absolutely amazing. De Zalze is a beautiful & safe golf resort with amazing views of the surrounding mountains & countryside. The lodge is very comfortable and the golf club restaurant, bar & terrace is 2 minutes away. Very handy for Cape Town airport, Stellenbosch & vineyards
Traveler impressions of Stellenbosch
The town itself is interesting. Busting with eager students, there are certainly more than enough pubs, bars and clubs to keep you entertained! Some great restaurants located all around the city which is easy to navigate around.
We only spent a brief time in the actual town of Stellenbosch which was quaint and pretty with some shopping and good places to eat.
Typical University town with loads of students. The call of the surrounding wine farms was load enough so that we did not linger in the town.
a definite visit to wine tasting, the brandy distillery a MUST. also the family markets on weekends.
Nice town, beautiful wine farms, good restaurants.. can access cape town , paarl and Strand for the beach.
A lovely university town with lots of quaint shops and treasures to discover. The perfect place to stay to explore the beautiful winelands area and to eat great food and soak up some history.
Visit wine farms, old church, museum or just stroll through the streets ovserving old buildings, cycle up Jonkershoek.
Great little historic town with food choices that are great and of course the wineries. Most appeared to have wine with low preservatives so my allergies were no impediment to a few good glasses.
Lovely little town with lots of small shops and great cafes to eat and drink - wonderful young people vibe.
Stellenbosch is ideally situated to do a "wine route" tour for fantastic wine tasting! Take a walk through the town and visit historic buildings and the botanical gardens.
Fabtastic quaint shops, antique furniture and bric-n-brac. A variety of restaurants rivalled only by those on offer in Franschoek
Totally in love with this lovelly town with all the history, architecture, beautifull environment, young vibe and upmarket shops and restaurants.
